Empellia

A Treaty for Peace
(War for West Imperia Part 5)

With their morale beaten after the defeat of their army and the ruining of their only chance to surprise the kingdom of Empellia, the Paronan clans that waged war against the kingdom agreed to peace. They decided to meet delegates from the kingdom in the Acanceires region on the Eidqa River. There, they would sign a treaty that both sides agree on, but in reality it is a contract that has the Paronans bend to the will of the kingdom. The Paronans were in no place to decline any terms to Peace the Empellians gave, their only hope of preventing the oppression of their people was the image of kindness the kingdom was trying to achieve.
Upon an early evening, the Chiefs of the Paronan tribes met the Empellian ambassador along with five Empellians “senators”, three of whom were recognized by the Paronans as chieftains from nearby clans on the other side of the river. Even if the senators recognized the Paronan chieftains, they showed no signs of friendliness, nor ones of hostility.
The large, golden sun was halfway down, turning the sky in a storm of vibrant hues of orange and purple. The chieftains stood about 5 paces away from the Empellian ambassador, a
Woman in her thirties. Even though she looked young, her eyes were worn and had seen enough sorrow for a lifetime. Despite her sorrows, she carried herself with a dignity that made the ordeal even more official than it already had, if it was even possible.
The woman began to speak, she spoke words that rode the wind with a certain dignity. She spoke of a joy that Empellia felt, knowing the Paronans wanted peace, and that Empellia would do anything in its power to benefit both sides
Empellia.
Even with the promises, her speech hinted at threats of violence if the chieftains do not comply with her demands. They were powerless.
The Paronan clans were to be annexed by the kingdom of Empellia and act as autonomous provinces inside the kingdom. Most of the Paronan tribes were to be annexed, even the small ones that were caught in the crossfire. The only Paronan tribes to not join the kingdom were upon the southern coast and farther east near the maintains. With the Paronan tribes conquered, Empellia had an iron grip upon the lands east of the Eidqa River.
