Hot water freezes faster than Cold water.
Known as The Mpemba Effect, Hot water, under the right conditions, can freeze faster than cold water. This was first noticed in the 1960's and recent tests has shown that the effect is indeed real. The same can also be said for cold water can reach boiling point faster than hot water, this is known as The Reverse Mpemba Effect.

One study on the Mpemba Effect shows that strong hydrogen bonds in water (bonds between water molecules) get stronger at higher temperatures.
Freezing is when molecules lose enough energy and slow down enough that the bonds between them "lock" them into place. So my guess is that what happens in hot water is that while it has stronger H-bonds than cold water, the movement of the molecules is too much for the bonds to trap the molecules. But when it gets cooled and the molecules slow down, it already has the strong H-bonds needed for freezing, and as a result, freezes faster than cold water, which doesn't have those strong hydrogen bonds ready before it hits freezing temperature.

There are bunch of theories on it and it hasn't really been studied in detail until recently so it's not really the kind of well-established scientific laws schools would teach about. I just picked the theory off of the Wikipedia article on the Mpemba Effect that was the easiest for me to understand and read the summary of a research paper about it. Even then it was clearly written for a professional chemist so a lot of what I came up with for my explanation was guesswork based on what I thought was implied in it. But the basic understanding I got from my high school chemistry class did help a bit in figuring it out!
