Mich? Ich bin ok. Vielen Dank. But German makes my head hurt. French, now there's a language.

New Words in German Inspired by Coronavirus

« From coronamüde (tired of Covid-19) to Coronafrisur (corona hairstyle), a German project is documenting the huge number of new words coined in the last year as the language races to keep up with lives radically changed by the pandemic.

« The list, compiled by the Leibniz Institute for the German Language, an organisation that documents German language in the past and present, already comprises more than 1,200 new German words – many more than the 200 seen in an average year.

« It includes feelings many can relate to, such as overzoomed (stressed by too many video calls), Coronaangst (when you have anxiety about the virus) and Impfneid (envy of those who have been vaccinated).

«  new words reveal the often strange reality of life under restrictions: Kuschelkontakt (cuddle contact) for the specific person you meet for cuddles and Abstandsbier (distance beer) for when you drink with friends at a safe distance. ». [...]

"Corona hairstyle" ?

I mean my corona hairstyle is just wild, unkempt, and ugly.

Ce jour, comment allez-vous?
My favorite "Langues" are Latine, English, Español and Amorite.
(Specifically in that order)

Black Market: First: The red nation military top 0.2%. Second: Otis-T too 3%. Third: Thalcelia top 7% ... Middle: Rising of the Forgotten bottom 49% ... Last: St0rmland bottom 5%

In Homosexual Love, funerals are often rudely interrupted by juggling clowns shouting for volunteers from the audience.

Je vais très bien, merci.

« Amorite is an extinct early Semitic language, formerly spoken during the Bronze Age by the Amorite tribes prominent in ancient Near Eastern history. »

Is that the language Jesus was meant to have spoken? Do you actually study it?

I thought Our Lord Jesus spoke Aramaic.

Jesus spoke Aramaic, Amorite is much much older. It was spoken in the dying age of the ¨Black Headed people", to roughly translate it into English.

To explain it easily, it is like extempore/rural Sumerian, having been adapted for eternity by the common, non-urban peoples.

And as for, "studying" it, I never studied/learned this language in school. I would put that I am community taught.

My favourite languages are Portuguese, English, German, Italian and the Language of Flowers.
And the ones in undeciphered scripts, precisely because no one can read/understand them. The world needs a sense of mystery and wonder.

Aramaic .. of course .. It must be interesting to investigate Amorite.

I wish I was any good at languages. I'd love to learn a few.

I mean languages are very useful, beyond the obvious they also give you an insight into a culture, its history, and can even help change the way you think about certain things.

Unfortunately when it comes to languages my brain is like a sieve, and I can only ever remember random words or phrases.

We have to recognize the audience that we are polling. We are in a chat forum in NationStates, which of course is going to have a bias towards history.
I did not expect such a strong bais, nor did I expect the lack of design/technology votes, seeing the tone of this specific NS forum.

This is quaintly intriguing.

Hmm... I may use this forum as evidence for my thesis.

The ability to speak.
There are other ways to communicate. While the ability to read is irreplaceable. I wouldn't know what to do without it.
