In other news, I'm thinking about yet another military overhaul. I'm not deleting my Mobile Suit factbooks for good because I'm not insane and I don't want to spend another 20 hours formatting those monsters.

I'm just a bit tired of my current military/tech, I want to play around with other universes and such. So if nobody has any objections.

Well you could multi-tech and shove the year ahead a bit for your tech to advance.

I added the Kaiju Containment Facilities from my factbook of the same name for the UNF to my "International Collaborations" factbook, but right now I am not sure if that would really qualify as a collaboration...What do you guys think?

Oceara wrote:Well you could multi-tech and shove the year ahead a bit for your tech to advance.

I was thinking about doing that. But I'm not an especially big fan of universe-mixing for my nation. I have no troubles with anyone else that does it, you do you. That and/or making a puppet nation for the tech I want to use but I don't really want to manage a second nation.

I'm just going to move my current military factbooks into Miscellaneous and start on these new ones.

Okay, officially changed it ALL over.

For the sake of clarity, this Universe's version of Sterkistan became known to territories of Earth and beyond in 2009 but this is just retconning in my current history. And we have yet to establish contact.
However we've already colonised Alpha Centuri. And a considerable amount of observation has been occurring from afar.

Rather than the other Universe of Sterkistan's policy about going in and kicking dust up and leaving. This one is more of a "Peacekeeping" gist, we only really engage in conflicts under the guise of keeping the peace, whether that's entirely true is up to you.

Hopefully everyone's fine with the changes, please give feedback.

There may be some interesting interactions between our nations from our nation's policy of granting rights to any machines that develop sapience -- including the right to leave the military during peacetime under the same conditions as humans and other biologicals. By the 2090s one even has achieved the rank of High Admiral of the Ocearan Space Navy, being entrusted with direct command over the entire Space Navy.

It would be interesting, seeing as how our Androids are not permitted to leave the service, and are even prohibited from displaying emotions.
So I have a feeling that Oceara would be fairly against the whole premise.

Indeed, Sapience rights is the most central core value to Oceara so our feelings will be very strong against it.

Sapience is for humans. Androids are not for that.

Sapience -- Can think and reason
Sentience -- Can feel, perceive, or experience subjectively.

Actually you've got me there, my Androids are capable of both but it is mostly prohibited.

The Ocearan Empire has become one of the first of the earth powers to launch military frigates into Orbit with it's small flotilla of 3 Frigates and 1 Marine Shuttle(Attached to the Docking Port on the Brusilov). They have left dock with the Crown of Terra space station and after some basic systems checks will test their Jump drives with a trip to Pluto and Back to Earth.

YoRha has mobilised 2 flight units from the Alpha Centuri Bunker to investigate the event. They will watch from the distance, gathering intel.

They will only attempt contact on Commands orders.
(Which is pretty likely)

The Ships would finish their system checks, performing one final scan of the area to update their navigation computers. "Navigation up to date, initial sensor data was correct on relative positioning of bodies in the system. We should be able to easily jump directly back into earth orbit with no issues." "Excellent, signal the Brusilov and the Mackensen to follow on the jump to pluto."

The Three ships (and docked marine shuttle) would then jump to Pluto near-instantly using some kind of spacetime-manipulating jump drive.

"Excellent, perform some scans and find a suitable landing area for the science team to collect some samples from the surface."
"Yes, captain."

If their power allocation is able to be detected, it seems they only have a couple of minor lasers active -- probably to destroy small but dangerous high-velocity asteroids. The rest of their power allocation is taken up by life support, sub-light thrusters, and sensor equipment.

The Flight Units piggybacked off the frigates jump coordinates. Intiating their warp drives to disguise themselves in the excess jump energy left over.

They kept their distance, waiting for the frigates to land.
A communications channel clicked through.
"You are clear to initiate diplomatic measures at your own discretion."
The channel closed.

A landing zone was found, although the frigates were clearly built with the intention of permanently remaining in space. The Shuttle would undock from the Brusilov and head down to the surface of pluto, inside being a pilot, a squad of marines, a 4 scientists, and a Grand Auxiliary assigned to the mission.

The shuttle would land on the surface of pluto, opening up an airlock the group would leave in complex environment suits -- strong hybrid space-suit and power armor if a bit primitive in overall design. The Marines are armed with anti-tank rifles (guns work in space because the cartridges have their own oxidizer) while the Grand Auxiliary has some highly advanced energy pistol. The scientists are unarmed, being busy setting up equipment.

The Flight Units use this time to get close, performing a scan before circling over.
The small lights on their backs flashed a non-hostile signal. And the Flight Units transformed into walker mode, the plates at the front still sealed shut.

"Contact Protocol." The Auxiliary would say, as the marines would lower their rifles to point towards the ground and the scientists would stop what they were going to observe with their helmet cameras. The Auxiliary would speak up again "I am authorized to make treaties on behalf of the Ocearan Empire, one of several nations native to the third planet around this star. My suit is also equipped with a primitive all-purpose translator. This extra speech is to allow your translators extra data to adjust to our language, which is one of many from our home planet."

The black flight unit turned slightly toward the white one before turning back. They had only caught about half of what the Auxiliary had said before their translators started catching on.

Their inbuilt translators worked, giving them a small selection of words to choose from.
"No fight." The words came from the white unit, the voice of a girl present.
"Our home, far. "
It was clear they were struggling with their current vocabulary.

(This is occurring in 2020)

The Empire has been at peace for years now. It seems the period of Imperial expansion and consolidation (beginning during the 2nd Orson Civil War) has finally come to an end; with the Quebec War having ended in 2016, and the skirmishes of the 2nd Andrew-Orson War ending the following year, the Empire has not been involved in a major war since, and the only conflicts have come from the minor firefights with Federalist/Contra-Turnerista cells discovered by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of State Security. However, besides a short leave following the end of the 2nd Andrew-Orson War, Imperial soldiers have not been idle during this time period.

Imperial soldiers have been involved in rigorous, non-stop training sessions, simulating amphibious landings on beaches, urban combat, mountain warfare, desert warfare, etc. The Imperial war machine has now slowed down either, with defense contractors being assigned numerous contracts by the MOD and MOSS for the manufacture of millions of firearms, billions of rounds of ammunition, hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery, aircraft, and new ships (including four new aircraft carriers). Newer weapons such as war robots, mechanical walkers, and laser weaponry have also been mass produced for the first time. Reserves of critical supplies such as oil have also been drastically increased, and farms and plantations across the Empire were pushed to their limit to create enough food to feed all of the soldiers. In the meantime, MOD began a major recruitment drive throughout the Empire, resulting in hundreds of thousands of new soldiers joining the Imperial Military.

While the economy is booming and life is improving in the Empire during peacetime, over the past several years, millions of Imperial soldiers have silently shifted from their scattered positions throughout the Empire to positions near the Ocearan border in Africa and the Andrewian borders in India and southeast Asia, while Imperial Navy warships have organized into their respective squadrons and fleets and are prepared to steam out of port at a moment's notice. Some in the Empire have noticed that the Imperial Military has not slowed its activity at all, and while many have passed it off as the Empire keeping its troops ready for any potential situation, others are wondering if the Empire is preparing for another major war.

All was going according to plan for Emperor Turner, however. With the Imperial Military in position and enough supplies created to support possibly the largest war in Orsonian history, it was now or never. Turner would fly to MOD's headquarters underneath Ayer's Rock in central Australia, where he would send out an encrypted message to all generals, admirals, and some other commissioned officers in the Imperial Military. The message was mostly gibberish, save for a few code words that made these officers immediately spring into action upon seeing them. The officers had been preparing for this day for years, but even they did not know when exactly they would receive the message; Turner had chosen a random date on purpose, so his enemies could not prepare for this day.

The message ordered the officers to prepare for the execution of the Grand Plan within 36 hours, and to inform the rest of their subordinates exactly who they were attacking (as few soldiers within the Imperial Military knew of the existence of the Grand Plan). After 36 hours, the Empire was to begin a surprise attack on the Andrewians; there would be no declaration of war, and even the Orsonian media would be prohibited from broadcasting any news about the attacks. The Ocearans would then take the bait and rush to join their ally, allowing Turner to also attack them without the involvement of Oceara's other allies. Turner hoped that this attack could allow the Orsonians to advance considerably into enemy territory early on and gain a major advantage early into the war. Throughout Africa and Asia, soldiers began to take their positions as it was revealed to them that a major war was about to begin, while Imperial Navy warships finally left their ports...

The Ocearans have already been fully-prepared for war for the past few months, and seeing the sudden alert of Orsonian Troops -- Supreme Commander Valentina has ordered all army units to shuffle their positions to invalidate any existing Orsonian targeting data and force them to perform recon to re-adjust their targeting and for the scrambling of Ocearan Aircraft to begin nonstop air patrols.
