Does anyone know how to put pictures, flags, maps, etc. into your factbook?

Yes, here is an example I pulled from one of my factbooks. It contains four images:

NationStates doesn't host images, so you need to have them on a third-party server.

The United Leftist Football Organization is to be renewed for a new season. The ULFO is a simulated football league between the nations of the USSD, and now to include CTSN nations. Please telegram or DM Extadros if you are interested in joining the ULFO, or want to know more about it. You can also find information about it in this dispatch:

☭✭ United Leftist Football Organization ✭☭

TL;DR: How do I join ULFO?
~ Make sure you comply with General Rules and Rules for Participation.
~ Make sure you understand differences between League and Cup.
~ Send a DM through NationStates or Discord to Extadros with: Nation name, Stadium name, Capital City, Main colours (optional), Desired players (optional, if chosen following rules), Shield (optional).

Welcome to the United Leftist Football Organization (ULFO)! This is an USSD activity where your nation can participate in a european football (soccer) and play against other nations in USSD and CTSN as our sister region. Now, let us start with the main topic and questions:

What do I need to do, and know, to join ULFO?

First you need to comply with rules, and then send the required data to Extadros. Below are requirements and rules to join the United Leftist Football Organization.

~ General rules!

  1. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner towards the community and their
fellow participants during their participation in ULFO.

  2. Moderation team reserve the right to delay, cancel or suspend moderations due to internal or external circunstances.

  3. Leaving the ULFO before its completion in an unfriendly way will end in sactions without being able to participate for three next seasons or cups.

  4. Moderation team and Politburo official members reserve the right to modify, supplement or waive all or part of the ULFO rules.

  5. You must bear in mind, and accept tacitly, that the match simulation is relatively random, that this is a game and it does not involve any kind of fraud. We are using Football Manager for simulation.

  6. Anyone violating this general rules of conduct shall be disqualified from the event and will be sanctioned accordingly.

~ Rules for participation!

  1. You must be an USSD citizen (following USSD Legislation #2 - Requirements for Citizenship).

  2. You must have a population higher than 100 million denizens. (Optional, depends on activity)

  3. You must be active and interested. Failing to do so can end in sanctions on future seasons.

  4. The data that is requested must be completed without mistakes.

  5. If you leave USSD during a regular Season or your activity drops you may be banned from next Season.

  6. You can NOT join during regular season.

  7. There can be up to 24 in the ULFO. 8 spots are reserved to CTSN and 16 to USSD participants.

~ Learn the differences between ULFO League and ULFO Cup!

Usually leagues are what we refer to as competitions which are spread over a long period where wins grant you points and you are usually sorted into groups of teams you have to play against. This is our ULFO LEAGUE, and you're not out if you lose. Check, please, III. TECHNICAL FEATURES AND FIXTURES for more information.

Tournaments our Cups are short period competitions where once you lose, you're out. The international is a tournament. This is our ULFO CUP which happens AFTER the LEAGUE. Some of the last player in LEAGUE will have to play play-offs to get into the CUP only if the number is not 8 or 16.

THERE ARE TWO WINNERS: ONE IN THE ULFO LEAGUE (the first classified) AND ANOTHER IN THE ULFO CUP (the winner of the tournament).

~ Check from which teams you can pick players! (Only if you're selecting them manually)

  • All teams must have a 23 - 25 players roaster. It may be random, selected by the moderation team, or picked manually. If it's picked manually you must pick real players. If you want to change their names you can do it stating the new name in parenthesis. Names written in a non-Latin alphabet will not be considered. Also you can't take, with minimal exceptions like some young players, players from the next top teams in country leagues:

If player is from a TOP 7 team and he's on loan in a lower team you can use it.

If you have any other questions, ideas, doubts or whatever contact with Extadros or post it on Discord or USSD RMB.

Ok, I've read everything, I accept the rules, comply with requirements and understand what's the League and what's the Cup. How do I join?

If you agree and fit in those rules we can proceed! Joining is pretty easy, you just need to send Extadros the data below.

~ Basic Data 1: General Information!

If you agree and fit with those rules we can proceed! You've to send me a telegram to participate with the next information (change it with your own one, this is an example!):
  • Nation name: Extadros.

  • Stadium name: Imperial Venue.

  • Capital City: Extrodia.

  • Main colours: Red and white. (For shirt designs)

  • 23 - 25 Players (Watch out for team selection rules in Basic Data 2 and ways of selection below. If you're not going to pick your players state it!)

  • Shield or coat of arms. (Optional, only for roleplay).

~ Basic Data 2: Player selection!

There are four ways to form your team, all listed and explained below:

  • Let the moderation team give you a random team.

  • Let the moderation team give you a random team but give the 23 - 25 (or some of them) custom names.

  • Copy and paste 23 - 25 players from a real life team. Make sure the team fulfill the player selection rules for the selected team and league.

  • Pick 23 - 25 players individually. Make sure the team fulfill the player selection rules for the selected team and league.

Any real team sheet should look like this (from Sinovieta in Season 1):
    #- Name (Custom Name)
1- Renat Gagity (Dmitri Kalashnikov) Defender
2- Wang Chengquai (Deng Xiuquan) Midfielder
3- Arshen Tsagolov (Mikhail Saratov) Defender
4- Zhang Yuan (Huang Li) Forward
5- Allon Butayev (Alexei Bubnov) Defender
6- Yu Shuai (Rong Fang) Forward
7- Cai Jingyuan (Wu Zhongyi) Forward
8- Alan Alborov (Vadim Asholl) Defender
9- Soslanbek Arshiyev (Josephi Krakowski) Goalkeeper
10- Tamerlan Bazayev (Boris Shashlikington) Midfielder
11- Shota Bibilov (Vladimir Shootin) Midfielder
12- Guan Zhen (Li Shang) Goalkeeper
13- Taymuraz Kudziyev (Marl Karx) Defender
14- Du Longquan (Dong Fei) Defender
15- Alan Tsabiyev (Sergei Pelmenmuncher) Defender
16- Cui Min (Sheng Long) Defender
17- Gersan Alborov (Kolya Westernspi) Midfielder
18- Xu Liang (Zao Medong) Midfielder
19- Batraz Gurtsiyev (Guri Yagarin) Midfielder
20- Yu Le (Wingus Khan) Forward
21- Soslan Lysenko (Anatoli Semechkington) Forward
22- Zheng Zezhou (Dashan Wang) Forward
23- Mukharbek Burayev (Bwong Bwong) Goalkeeper
24- Cui Min (Sheng Long) Defender
25- Alan Alborov (Vadim Asholl) Defender

If someone picks a player you want it will be given to the first one that selected it. Some players may be property of a player because of winners player draft. Also you can add age, team or position if you want to clarify who your player (ONLY if he exists) is.

By this point, if you did everything correctly, you should be an ULFO participant. We are waiting for your feedback! If there is any mistake in the players sheet they will be corrected and comunicated as soon as possible.

Right, now I want to now more things about ULFO...

Check the section below to discover how ULFO works!

~ Look how results screens are!

We're using Football Manager 2018 for simulation, which give us a precise and reliable way to simulate matches giving advantege to the ones that prepare their team with care or those winners of past seasons or cups. Here you can see part of the results screen for Season 2 and on:

~ Players draft!

The sweetness of success are reserved for a few. A second place is a great position, just like a third position, that's why the fourth first positions (in league) and the Cup winner will be able to pick players in a determined order from a top-class players draft and they'll be theirs forever.
Now, how does the draft system work? Following the next steps:

  1. Once the League and Cup has finished the moderation team picks 12 top-class players and show them to the participants.

  2. Participants rearrange players based on ther preferences from 1 to 10 (leaving two out). If you don't wanna / don't know / don't have preferences they'll be randomized.

  3. Then they are assigned in the following order:

    • 1st pick → 4th League classified.

    • 2nd pick → ULFO Cup Winner.

    • 3rd pick → 3rd League classified.

    • 4th pick → 2nd League classified.

    • 5th pick → 1st League classified.

    • 6th pick → 1st League classified.

    • 7th pick → 2nd League classified.

    • 8th pick → 3rd League classified.

    • 9th pick → ULFO Cup Winner.

    • 10th pick → 1st League classified.

  4. Players are saved and added to rosters, registering them in the Winners Record.

  5. If a player does not pick it will be skipped without the chance of picking later.

~ ULFO Cup!

After the ULFO regular league we could have a cup tournament using a single-elimination system. Those cups will only take place if we have more than 8 players (and will only participate the first 8 classified in ULFO league) or 16 and when moderation team has enough time to simulate it. Teams would be the same as ULFO League. Teams will face each other, except for play-offs, in random order. Here you can check how it would work with 10 players (as an example) and fully 16 players:

~ How are ties (draws) resolved?

Next list is used to resolve ties during the ULFO league and at the very end. Take note that final positions are only influenced if there's a tie by the second one:

      DURING ULFO:
1st- Goal difference (Scored - Against = Difference).
      2nd- Alphabetical order.

AT THE END OF THE ULFO:
1st- Goal difference (Scored - Against = Difference).
2nd- Goal difference between tied teams. If one of the ULFO matches goes for team A 2-1 and the second goes 3-3 for both teams A and B, team A would win because it scored more goals than its rival.
3rd- Won matches (The more, the better).
4th- Draw matches (The more, the better).
5th- Lost matches (The less, the better).
6th- Yellow cards. (The less, the better).
7th- Red cards. (The less, the better).
8th- Untying match between them in neutral field.

~ About choosing tactics! Can I?

  1. Sadly, no. But do not be afraid. Football Manager AI is pretty smart and professional so it will be competent. In fact AI can buy new players, but we'll prevent it from using them.
If you see grey players and unknown for you they're generated players in case of injury.

~ Interactions, roleplay and activity!

  1. We want people to soft RP. We want you to create situations and interactions. You can also create your own press conferences. Please, we want more activity in next seasons.

Healthly rivalities and reactions are appreciated. Again, we trust you to make this activity interesting and alive, so make it a real thing to make this competition (and moderator) alive.

~ I have my team from last season. Can I use it again?

  1. If you want to mantain your team you've to send the same again or, in an extreme case, stating that you want to mantain the same in the telegram. Your players are saved from one season to another, but if you miss a season they'll be free to take.
