Officer Smithe trailed behind his fellow Officers and the escort to the treasonous representative. His sleek black car blending in perfectly with the night as they wove the sheer roads of Washington, on one side was the choppy Pacific Ocean, and on the other a series of Great Mountains which separated the coast from the mainland. The Escort drove through this route in particular to avoid civilian traffic and so far had succeeded in that regard, but more importantly, there had been rumors of strange disappearances in the area. Smithe scoffed to himself, such things only occurred in folklore, this was one of the safest parts of Isolationstan. As the other car wove around a wide bend and the black waters reflected naught, an ever-present void beneath them in the light of a New Moon.

Officer Smithe shook his head, feeling slightly ashamed that he hadn't told the others the real reason he was sent along. After being briefed by a series of RDB officials and Julius' own cabinet he meant to tell them that there was strange activity in the area, but he couldn't bring himself to believe it. Terrorists in Isolationstan, impossible. His focus wavered for a moment and he swerved away from the maw that gaped beside him, sticking to the road.

The radio cut off suddenly, the classical movie coming to a jarring halt. Then suddenly a voice came through, "Hey Smithe, it's Batkins are you doing alright back there?"

Smithe pressed a button and spoke into a microphone, "Yea, yea, don't worry about me I'm just going to pull over for a second."

Batkins replied, "Do you want me to wait for you?"

Smithe shook his head, mostly to keep himself awake, "Don't worry about it."

Batkin spoke, "Alright, we'll meet you at the nearest inn, alright?"

"Sure."

The radio cut off and suddenly began to play classical music again. He brought his car to a rolling stop and pulled over towards the sheer mountain which flanked the otherwise of the road. Then he looked around feeling a sudden chill run down his spine, seeing only black and a few meters lit in front of him by his headlights. He stepped out of the car and felt the wind tear at him as he stumbled out of the vehicle in exhaustion. Looking around and seeing nothing he meandered over to the side of the road and went to relieve himself, a minute later, however, there was a rustling sound from far above him. A few rocks skidded loose and hit the ground beside him.

He jumped and took a few steps back, quickly securing his belt. And looked around, seeing nothing. He ran back to his vehicle and locked the doors, and waited, looking to see if anything was out there. And still nothing.

Smithe turned on his car and a strange blue and white symbol appeared on the dashboard. As the engine roared to life he pressed down on the gas and went to steer the car back on the road. Instead the car surged forward as the symbol flared, for a split second Smithe lifted his eyes and saw him.

A man dressed all in black illuminated by the harsh glow of a neon screen, he watched the man press a button and the car surged towards the maw. Smithe pulled on the car door and pushed at it, and quickly undid his seatbelt. To no avail, as his car soared into the black.
