Infected zone 307

Turns out the guy did indeed test positive. It was who we thought it was too.

[NAME REMOVED] has learned today that he tested positive for COVID -19. He was in the office Monday, June 15th, and Tuesday, June 16th. Both days his temperature was taken, and it was normal at 98 and 98.4 degrees, respectively. He woke up with symptoms and a fever of 99.6 early Wednesday morning. He didn’t return to the office for the rest of the week. On Monday, June 15th, he was in the estimating meeting downstairs and claimed he never came into our suite on the second floor. On Tuesday, June 16th, he did come upstairs using the back stairwell and was in his office most of the day. He wore his mask anytime he was in a common area. He wanted me to share that he seems to have a very mild case and is doing well.

The fella is in the same area as me, I can see his office from where I am, it’s about 20ft away. Had his door closed for most of the day except whenever someone would stop by to talk to him. I remember seeing two people who did. A guy and girl. On that day I wasn’t near her. The other guy I had to step past in the hallway once that day. But I think that was before those two had contact.

I need to do more research. A quick search online show someone is most contagious within the first 3 days? That just brings up how long has the guy been infected along with more questions. Interesting.

One of the hardest things, I find, among all of this pandemic is the anxiety and brain-drain that goes along with being forced to overthink every action and constantly track multiple simultaneous things and always having these processes silently running in the back of your mind. I really wears on you, in multiple ways.

Indeed in a way it does. Although I do find some paranoia... or anxiety in mentioning there was case in such close proximity to friends/family.

The office survivor I mentioned earlier, I’ve observed some of his interactions with other coworkers. Not sure if anyone notices it, but there’s a shift, I see them step back a little when he nears, even with the 6ft rule in place. I did it myself. I see they avoid him a little. He’s not an outcast or something, he still jokes around and talks with everyone. They pick up lunch for him, etc. Whether they notice it or not is up to debate, but there’s definitely been a shift. Perhaps I read too much in too it.

Disregarding that stuff, I also find this whole office infection fascinating, in a way it’s a rather forward approach on seeing how stuff can spread person to person.

The demons I say! The demons! Interesting enough in my microbiology class, I remember the doctor was talking about the old plague doctors with the bird masks. The masks themselves apparently had really strong herbs which they believed could provide protection. Although apparently many did indeed die.

They say that the patients of Nostradamus were cured but it’s not known how.

I've heard stories of from my family members of what went on during the Spanish Flu pandemic during 1918-19. People hung strips of cloth soaked in Formaldehyde in their homes in an attempt to ward off the H1N1 virus.

It seems like you have a healthy outlook on this. Sort of an ability to shift the focus. Myself, I just try to shut everything out, which inevitably fails.

I can see why.

Formaldehyde is a rather... unpleasant smell. In the lab it always had a lingering smell. Very faint, but there. The bio waste container was something religiously avoided.

I remember taking out the cadavers on many occasions. Big, not sure the word to use, closets? Had many trays in it for storage. We always had to pull them out of the bags and onto another tray. That’s when it hits you. If you open the bag with the opening pointed towards you... haha rip.

Indeed it’s better to distract yourself. Productive if possible, if not I just hop on my phone and play games. I have reason to be concerned, but no more than anyone else.

Luckily, I never had to take any classes that required me to confront any use of Formaldehyde. Call me squeamish.

Obligatory posting of that scene from E.T. where the kid frees all of the frogs during lab class...

Also, this being Underworld and all, I'm not sure how successful of an Anatomy class you could run, Infected Zone...what with our lack of corporeal form. "We all float down here" -- because we're Shades :P

I believe I have a burnt corpse somewhere nearby. The tyrant was roasting it after she murdered my son. Wonder where it went.

I feel you’re quoting something and I should know where that is from... oof

The worst are people that claim their lottery tickets then use whatever winnings to buy more. That’s 2 transactions, you can’t just stay in line perpetually buying tickets.

It’s a well known fact that spider and snakes are fine pets. Better than dogs and cats in some regard.

Therefore you can play with them. Not that you should.

I mean it’s a solid strategy...

My thoughts on lottery tickets is that one might as well take their money to the nearest busy intersection and throw it up in the air. One has the same chances of winning as catching all the money once airborne.
