The Leftist Assembly is a democratic region, we need democratic leadership. For that to succeed, the admins must have their independence and Podria must answer for his words.

Kavagrad wrote:As you commented on the posts that I made in the gameplay channel of the social server yesterday evening, I assume that it is those posts that you refer to?

If so, I will say that I regret my use of inflammatory language, though I stand by the underlying opinions.

Yes, that is what I am referring to.

Kavagrad wrote:has privately emotionally manipulated multiple members of the admin team all the while.

A lot of what happened seems to have happened in private, which means that those of us who are outside the circle cannot see it. All I saw was the no-context extreme posts on Discord. That is why it seems excessive.

Kavagrad wrote:I did not act as I should have, in the one conversation which you note, Burni, and I will admit to that and am happy to apologise for it.

Glad to hear it.

Kavagrad wrote:However, the behaviour of the Secretary and Vice-Secretary has been consistently abhorrent throughout this process. They have not only created a unnecessary sense of mistrust and resentment between themselves and the admin team as well as, from what I have seen, the public, but they have also behaved in a way that disgraces the posts that they hold.

As I understand it, there is no further legislation coming that would breach the sovereignty of the social server. I hope that this is, in fact, the case. I now ask the Secretary and Vice-Secretary to ensure that they hold themselves accountable for their actions. Podria has offered me an apology, about half an hour ago. I don't know whether or not it is enough to make up for what I, and the rest of the admin team, have been put through, and I have not yet accepted it. Each member of the team will decide for themselves how much they are willing to forgive, but I personally would like to see some accountability.

Seems asymmetrical given the above, at least to me.

Kavagrad wrote:The last 48 hours have cast a shadow over the community that I love. I want it to be over.

Looks to me like everyone involved should take a break from posting for a bit and let tempers cool.

Like I keep saying, all I can see is what's posted in public. People keep using terms like "for democratization!" on one side and "attempted seizure of power!" on the other, when like, what we're talking about is a discord server. Not to diminish the importance of a fun discord server but come on, democratization vs seizure of power?

Everyone needs to take a step back from the precipice.

As for the matter of Vice Secretary Podria‘s comments on the #ns-gameplay channel, suggesting that members of the admin team ought to step away from their position — this statement was not authorized by me, and he was acting outside of his capacity as Vice Secretary. Nonetheless, in light of recent hostilities, it would be negligent of me not to denounce the Vice Secretary’s behavior. Regardless of personal intent, it is clear that these remakes did not sit well with members of our community and I want to give no illusions that I support pressuring anyone to step down from a position (on or offsite). Regardless if the member is “inactive”, that is not up to the Vice Secretary or myself to decide.

I'm not going to get into the thick of the conversation since I've done enough of that on the Discord server, and honestly I can't be bothered rehashing the same arguments here when its 1am, but I just wanted to make a note of this mind-boggling statement.

Firstly, you are denouncing your own Vice Secretary. Just gonna leave people to sit on that point.

Secondly, you made light of that comment and made a joke about it? To quote you exactly, you said, "“Retirement for Those Who Want It” - Buttigieg". It certainly took you a while to come around to the fact that your Vice Secretary's comments weren't such a joke.

This whole situation is pitiful and makes me want to throw my face into a wall. The best de-escalation is stepping away from the screen for 24 hours, and that is what I recommend that everyone does here. I'll certainly be trying, unless I'm urgently needed on Discord.

My personal view is that the citizens should decide whether Podria remains in his position. I believe they should step down.

Llorens, you’re right, to be frank, this situation has done nothing but harm our community, and for any part I may have played, whether consciously or otherwise (eg. co authoring the Communications Regulation Bill, making that Retirement for those who want it joke), I’m sorry. I will be taking a step back from NationStates and if I am needed, feel free to ping me on Discord.

I will be reassessing my future on this platform and if during that time, Assemblians decide that I have behaved unbecoming of my office, I will accept responsibility and step aside.

If you feel strongly about pursuing this option, there is a way that this can be done. Please refer to our Constitution, specifically Article IV Section 6.

So I could propose a motion to go to the Assembly?

To members of the General Assembly:

I propose a motion of no confidence in Vice Secretary Podria following his recent actions on the Discord server.

I am aware this requires two members of the Assembly to support this notion.

Erna vindtopia

In regards to the actions of Podria, Erna Vindtopia hereby uses their right to invoke Article 3, Section 7 in order to begin impeachment proceedings against Podria.

This is not in response to the proposals set forth by Podria and Greylyn. This is a response to the manipulative behavior directed at the staff of the TLA Discord server. Telling staff members to reconsider their adminship on the server, the harsh language directed at the staff followed by compliments saying that Podria respects them in DMs, among other behaviors, are aspects of the aforementioned manipulative behavior. If this is tolerated, then it sets precedent for the cabinet to use their position to send threats to other nations.

If anyone else wants to voice their support feel free to say and I can add your country to the list of signatories.

Erna vindtopia

Given that we now have support from two members of the general assembly, by the power vested in the people by Article 3, section 7, Erna vindtopia moves forward with the motion to impeach Podria.

New samon

As a military voting citizen, I vote FOR the motion.

Kavagrad and Renjj

I am voting for the VoNC of Podria, as a Military Voting Citizen.

Also, heads up, for the next 24 hours I will be taking a break from NationStates.

Kavagrad, New samon, and Renjj

As I am not in the WA, I can not vote, however I strongly endorse the impeachment.

As a military voting citizen, I vote for the removal of vice secretary Podria.

Ortseleria

I am going to join the WA. Edit: Nevermind.

Hello.

Llorens

For those of us that don’t use Discord, It is difficult to make an informed vote on the removal of Comrade Podria. Can anyone offer some screenshots of the conversation(s) in question, beyond the RMD posts? (which are at best editorialized). Greylyn Kavagrad.

Both myself and Grey have said that we're stepping back from any further debate, so I'll keep this brief. I don't think that the release of such conversations would serve to do anything except inflame the situation once more at a personal level, which is what we want to avoid.

I will say in regards to the public accusations that I've made today and the impeachment of Podria: I have spoken to Pod since my last post, and I have accepted the apology for what he has said that has hurt me on a personal level. I stand by the belief that, even without personal considerations, he went way too far and should no longer hold his post, and he very much understands why I hold that position.

I know that this isn't the reply that you wanted, but I hope that it's a respectable one.

I have read the entire discussion and, not being involved with the discord at all, found it hard to really position myself with regards to the issue. I felt like I wasn't completely in the know about everything that had happened behind the scenes. Had this been a normal proposal or amendment, such circumstances would have lead me to abstain from voting, but in the case of a vote of no-confidence I like to base my decision on whether Roulantinia, or I personally, was affected by the events that triggered the vote. In this instance, that is not the case. In conclusion, while I have sympathy for the arguments made against Comrade Podria, I personally decided to vote AGAINST, and I want my vote to be seen in that regard and in the proper context.

I can post the logs that prompted me to make the proposal, whether or not they post their own direct messages is up to them.
