Socialism is a term that comes with a lot of stigma with the stereotype of either an angry 12 year old who doesn't know what it means, or an aggressive Russian man with a communist Ushanka.

But when you actually take apart certain areas of Socialism, you can apply them to a capitalist society. Such as a national healthcare, admittedly the lower the population, the better, but having the healthcare on the tax bill as opposed to being extorted out of millions just to pay for an operation is a good idea. I believe that education is the only aspect of society that we need to secure a future and so, surely, the privatisation of something that teaches the future leaders of your country shouldn't be used to gain a profit margin.

Even less 'important' industries like public transportation should be nationalised, because so many less wealthy people use it, and are being used to gain profits off by big companies.

The main communist or socialist viewpoint is the economy, and how it should be controlled. I believe that rampant large businesses aren't good for an economy, but its not the government's place to get in the way of their growth, so I agree with a mixed economy where new businesses aren't taxed as much so that they can get their business off the ground.

So in short, am I a communist? No. Am I socialist? Partially. Am I a capitalist? Partially.

I think the NHS should be privatized, as our population continues to increase at staggering rates it puts an unhealthy strain on our healthcare, our wait times are getting worse and worse with more and more people needing to wait for more than 4 hours before getting medical attention. The number people waiting less than 4 hours in A&E has dropped by 20% in the last 10 years as the NHS is no longer meeting targets. In that 10 years the population increased by 5 Million.

Something needs to be done to fix this or the quality of our healthcare will just continue to decline as the demand continues to rise.

You guys should be happy about you public healthcare, here in Brazil a person needs to wait days. If the person even manages to be attended (Not sure if that is the correct word in english) she is probably going to stay on the middle of the corridor cause there isn't enough space.

I had to wait two hours as is to get my nose looked at when I broke it. So the wait times aren’t any better in the US

I do support public healthcare though, the problem is that our nation is full of corrupt politicians, one of the main reasons it is garbage

I just realized I am british and I'm a member of the one and only Political Party here which is exactly named after a real life British Party.

Our NHS is near universally accepted to be better than the US healthcare system in both quality and low cost. If the wait times are that bad then we should increase the budget to hire more doctors, not scrap the whole thing and privatize. The NHS is arguably the best in the world.
