The War of Styldavian Sovereignty

When the news of firefights happening at Bokhny, south-east of Chervona Rada Base where the Panzerlehrbrigade 9 and Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 21 are stationed, were informed to the base commander, Generalmajor Kurtin Heisner, he directly contacted Generalfeldmarschall Gerhardt Lebriche and relayed that unknown military elements of Galayar has penetrated the defenses of the southern border and began skirmishing against Styldavian border units at Bokhny. This information was then relayed from ZentKomm back to Raigastadt, where the announcement of hostilities between Styldavia and Galayar came to a shock to Herrschergewahlt Thomas Roentgen, who didn’t anticipate a sudden strike against their allies this soon by Galayar. Though the murder of the Tsar and the killing of several Schweitsen related nobility (written in a future post) had been denounced heavy-handedly by both Aetheodish and Schweitsen foreign ministries, this sudden aggravation had not been predicted by military planners

Over the next few days, news of the military action had spread throughout the general public in Schweitser and nationalistic, and pro-NSP newspapers began picking up the narrative of “another great war” in order to crush the hostile Galayarese, just as they had done to the Oncadians in 1941. Jingoistic and war hawks of the Großerrat have begun pushing for immediate military intervention and the deployment of the Rapid Response Division, which the Konigskabinett also pushed for. Following 2 sessions of special congregation, the Großerrat has approved the act for deploying Schweitsen military assets to the war effort in Styldavia, however no declaration of war was to be done as to follow the footsteps of the Styldavians. The act was then passed by the Koniglicherrat and Herrschergewahlt Thomas then ratified the act. ZentKomm was then informed that it has permission to use force against those who dare threaten the sovereignty of Styldavia.

The Rapid Response Division, made up of Luftlandebrigade 1 (Airborne), 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade (Air Mobile), Kommando Spezialkräfte (Special Forces) and Kommando Hubschrauber (Helicopters) alongside support units, totaling up to around 13,000 soldaten, took to the skies and were deployed within 33 hours to Chervona Rada Base. These units were then transferred under ZentKomm, and in future any units participating in combat in Styldavia will be relinquished to be under ZentKomm’s command. Meanwhile, Panzerbataillon 46 and Panzergrenadierbataillon 77 of Panzerlehrbrigade 9 were ordered to deploy to Koldera in order to reinforce the Aetheodish troops in the area. The two battalions would then be reinforced by the Panzerartilleriebataillion 99 and Panzerlehrgranatwerferbataillion 23 which would provide fire support missions for them. The rest of Panzerlehrbrigade 9 was then ordered to stay in reserve and await the arrival of the 3 Luchtmobiele Brigade and Panzergrenadierbrigade 31.

Besides that, the most important asset of ZentKomm, the air wings, were then given mission duties in order to guarantee NSP supremacy in the skies. Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 12 and Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 21 were to maintain air supremacy, deploying a total of 120 jets to protect the skies between Psmiv and Koldera. In the meantime, Aufklärungsgeschwader 4 at Marson would perform reconnaissance missions, Bodenangriffgeschwader 18 would be transferred to be hosted in Chervona Rada in order to conduct ground strike missions in Koldera and surrounding areas and Flugbereitschaftsgeschwader 11 would conduct airlifting operations to ferry soldiers and supplies into the logistic train in Styldavia under ZentKomm. Strategisches Bombergeschwader 6 would be put on hold as its usage would not be suitable for the time being and any loss of strategic bombers would not sit well.

On the political side of things, the government has of course showed its full support of Styldavia in the war and its representative in the OCS, herr Walhter Oberto, has been supporting a Styldavia legislature in order to condemn and potentially even enforce an embargo against Galayar. The only pushback came from the radical cliques of the Nationale Verjungungspartei, which espouses a more pro-Oncadian, pro-Galayarese, anti-NSP rhetoric in comparison to the rest of the NVP, which holds leans towards NSP scepticism and isolationist policies. Meanwhile, the civilians who had seen what a dictatorship had done to Monpravia in the past, further emboldened their jingoism again in order to prevent Galayar from gaining any more power than it already has. Conscription policies, as announced by the Konigskabinett, will not be enacted and the government will maintain the policy of volunteers unless the situation in Styldavia gets messy.

A Crimson Dawn

The men of the 2nd Infantry Division were stirring awake as a cool autumn breeze blew in from the east. Captain Clyde and his company had been assigned a patrol to the north of Bokhny. Driving along these rural roads, he could almost see himself growing old here, as he saw the farming folk at work on the harvest. By 7:10, his company had arrived at the small hamlet of Uhniv, not far from the border. Exiting the APC, he was quickly accosted by an elderly man, who spoke Styldavian. "Please, you have to do something! I tried calling the authorities but they aren't picking up!"

Clyde placed a hand on the old man's shoulder and tried to calm him, having been ordered to learn Styldavian in preparation for his deployment to the country. "What is problem?" He knew he hadn't mastered the language by any means, and winced at his own mispronunciations.

The Old Man ignored this and pointed to the sky, as the roaring thunder of jet engines could be heard. "That! We are under attack!"

Looking up, Clyde saw the jets, and recognized them as Galayarese in make. "Perhaps is mistake, border not far."

The old man just shouted "Fool!" before walking away. Dumbfounded, Clyde turned back to his lieutenants, who had gathered around while the little exchange happened.

One of his lieutenants, a babyfaced graduate from college, looked at Clyde with a mixture of fear and excitement. "Is it true? Are we at war?"

Before he could respond, the ground shook as shells rained down on the village. Scrambling for cover, Clyde saw the crew of an armored car climb out, screaming as flames consume them...

Headquarters

As scattered reports of contact turned into a torrential downpour, Heremaster Whitmore was forced to make a difficult decision. As misfortune had it, many of his troops were stationed away from the border, in order to avoid directly provoking Galayar. The only division at the border was the 2nd Infantry, lead by Commander Ford, a veteran of the Monpravian Intervention. Within an hour's drive, the 4th Armored Division was mustering to prevent an encirclement of Bokhny and the 2nd Infantry. The remainder of his army would take a day or more to muster for battle. The Royal Air Force has an Fighter Group and a Bomber Wing on station, providing some support for the isolated defenders as the skies turn into a fiery joust.

His options were as follows: to hold as much ground as possible, or to engage in a fighting retreat until the entirety of the 5th Here could be brought to bear. The former would likely cause the destruction of the 2nd Infantry, while the latter could be seen as cowardice by those who know nothing of war. There could only be one choice. The lives of his men must be preserved at all costs, and so he orders the 4th Armored Division to make haste to Bokhny, and the 6th Armored to provide a screen for the 4th. The 26th and 12th Infantry Divisions would shift southeast and take up temporary fighting positions, to cover the 6th Armored's rear. The remaining divisions (19th, 24th, 27th) will move due east to establish a defensive line and prepare to recieve the brunt of the Galayarese offensive.

It is believed that Bokhny will fall regardless of the outcome of this move, but the goal is to evacuate the 2nd Infantry Division as well as any civilians that can be reasonably saved. Pursuant to this, Whitmore has offered the use of his spare trucks to aid in the evacuation of civilians from the frontier.

The Home Front

A crowd gathers for a grim ceremony in central Winchester. No speech was given, in fact, the ceremony wasn't announced to the public at all. The flag of the Kingdom has been lowered, being folded by a squad of Huscarls. In its place, an ancient crimson banner in the shape of a dragon is raised. Everybody knows what this means. Without an outright declaration, Aetheodaland has entered a state of war.

Elsewhere, the soldiers of the 1st Here and the Royal Marines prepare to set out for the east. Unlike previously, there is no fanfare. An atmosphere of grim determination has settled upon Aetheodaland. No honor is to be won in this war, only revenge, a punishment to those evildoers who would undo the very fabric of polite society.

The 1st Shipfyrd, the largest fleet in the Navy, sets out for Styldavia. Headed by both HMS Harbinger (BBG-1) and HMS Ravager (BBG-2), as well as HMS AdoIf I (CV-7) and HMS Carl V (CV-8), escorted by 8 Cruisers and 20 Destroyers. This fleet consists of Aetheodaland's most modern warships, it's air wings, 16 inch guns, and missile batteries allow it to strike from afar, forcing enemy ships to close distance to engage, at least in theory. Fleetmaster Frederick Northhampton is in command of the naval forces.

Demands of Reimbursement

Years ago, the Bank of the Confederacy provided a very large loan to the nation of Galayar during its economic crisis. This money was to stimulate the economy, prevent a total collapse of the nations currency and decrease rising inflation. Now that complete chaos has erupted in the former confederate trade, partner, fears of where that money has gone and if it’ll ever be repaid or looming. Over years of stability since the deal, parts of the loan have been repaid, but it has not been repaid in full.

An emergency meeting was called between members of the confederate congressional committee on economics and leaders of the bank of the confederacy, the nationalized bank tasked with backing the confederate currency and providing foreign loans. The meeting between the committee and the bank resulted in a declaration calling for Galayar to repay the loan sum in full. If it is not repaid, all private enterprises that purchased mining rights, equipment, and territories within the confederacy will be seized and placed under confederate government control. Given that they are at war and resources are of utmost importance, especially mining resources, this is incredibly pressing. Additionally, this puts a strain on relationships between the Confederacy and Galayar if it is not resolved properly. Relationships have been fairly good due to the close trade the nations have been conducting and harm to this relationship could tip the scales for the confederacy involvement in the on going conflict.

As of now, the cabinet of President Budd has issued a doctrine of neutrality, promising to protect the nations home ports, and all trade routes with supreme naval force. Any attack on a confederate merchant, ship, or naval vessel, will be seen as a sign of war, and will initiate a confederate government intervention. This neutrality appears to be a full state of neutrality meaning that the confederacy is willing to conduct trade with both sides of the war equally unless relations are strained or cut. The confederacy has also not promised any military aid to either side of the ongoing war. It seems that, at least, for a time, the confederacy might sit this one out, and remain on its own continent, away from war.

The Grand Arrival

18 September, 1964
Generalmajor Hans-Otto Fausthasen, Commander of the Rapid Response Division stepped out the cargo bay onto the tarmac strip, feeling the breezy wind of the plains gracing his face. Flanked by his staff officers, he was greeted by Generalleutnant Kurtin Heisner, who was obviously sleep deprived from his dark sunken eyes.

“Guudn mojen heer Generalmajor! I hope the plane ride to Chervona Hora was a smooth one”, Kurtin jokes.

“Guudn mojen heer Generalleutnant. The ride was smooth indeed. Didn't know these transport planes were upgraded with cushioned seats!”

Both cracked a smile at each other

“It’s good to see you again Hans. It has been a long time since we last actually met. Wasn't it…at that one Portuhevian base where we last met?”, Fausthasen noded at the mention of it.

“Much has changed since then hasn't it? We've been raised up in the chain of command and as you can see, the strain of those chains are weighing on me heavily”, Kurtin lowered his head and sighed. The scale of the conflict weighing on his back.

“You don't have to worry much longer Kurt, the Rapid Response Division is now under your command. And by orders of the brass back home, I will be acting as your oberadjutant for the duration of the war. We're finally working together once more, aren't we old friends!” Both men share a sincere joyful moment, reuniting once again.

“Now, shall we get to work herr Generalmajor?” Fausthasen nodded and both men got into the jeep and made their way to the base headquarters. As they drive through the tarmac, lines of transport trucks ferrying men and equipment to and fro the air strip and the military base. Those unfortunate to not have a ride had to march to their new quarters, temporary lodges made to house moving soldiers. When both men reached the base’s headquarters, they were received by saluting guards and retinues of officers awaiting their arrival. One of the officers walked out of the crowd of officers and approached the two generals.

“Guten Moin, Generalleutnant Heisner and Generalmajor Fausthasen!”

“Guudt mojen, Generaladjutant Heslow”, greeted back Heisner. Turning to Fausthasen, he then continued, “Fausthasen, this is Generaladjutant Frederick Heslow, senior staff officer and second-in-command to Generalfeldmarschall Gerhardt Lebriche, I'm sure you heard of him!” Then turning to the generaladjutant, he said “He is Generalmajor Hans-Otto Fausthasen, a long-time comrade of mine and my new temporay senior staff member.” Both the generaladjutant and generalleutnant greeted eachother following the introduction by herr Heisner.

“Let's get a move on shall we? We have much to discuss and plan. This upcoming month and actions done within this time will prove vital to the war effort and the crisis we are facing.” All 3 men then moved into the building, followed by their senior staffers.

The order of battle

20 September, 1964
“As planned, Fausthasen’s Rapid Response Division will move past Koldera and into Telvanykivka as it'll prove a vital staging point in order to defend Vardiansk from the seemingly incoming breakthrough from Bokhny. Nestor’s Panzerlehrbrigade 9 will continue holding defensive posture in Koldera. Brigadegeneral Uhlon’s 3 Luchtmobielebrigade will move to Vardiansk and assist Styldavian defensive operations while Panzergrenadierbrigade 31 will enforce the Styldavian flanks at the city of Khlalyuk. This will render Schweitsen soldiers relatively spread apart but we're here to make sure Vardiansk and Chervona Hora do not fall. Now in regards to our aerial warfare” Heisner motioned to Generalleutnant Renard Vihud.

“Thank you herr Generalmajor. At the moment, aerial assets consisting of Luftwaffengeschwader 12 and 21 are cooperating with Styldavia air assets and air defense in order to make sure the skies between Chervona Rada and Vardiansk are clean from Galayarese aerial assets. Bodenangriffgeschwader 18 will be available to conduct ground strike missions. We have very little intelligence on Galayarese aerial assets and therefore are operating on an assumption that Galayarese air assets outnumber ours 2:1 or 3:1. That is all.”

“Thank you, herr Generalleutnant. Now regarding any possible reinforcement. I have been in contact with both Generaladjutant Heslow and Generalfeldmarschall Lebriche and it seems our position will be reinforced with 12.Panzerdivision (Armoured) and 7.Jagertruppendivision (Light Infantry) by the 27th of September at the earliest. This will allow us to expand our ground operations. Not only that, we will also receive Taktische Luftwaffengeschwader 21 and Taktische Luftwaffengeschwader 34 from the fatherland.”

Stopping to take a breath, he observed the officers around him nodding in silence and some were even noting things down on their notebooks. “That should be all gentlemem. May Deus guide us all in this trying time. Do your best, the Styldavians and Aetheodish are counting on them.” Everyone saluted and then exited the room one by one. The ones only left are the generalleutnant and Generalmajor Hans-Otto Fausthasen.

“So what do you think Kurt? Do you think we are able to hold?”

“Honestly Hans, I don't know what to make of it. It seems like the Aetheodish are not willing to escalate and that is definitely holding our capabilities back. It is hope that we're able to hold any gaps left by the Styldavians and Aetheodish.”

Both men shared a collective sigh and then a moment of silence. “Kurt, stay strong and carry on. We'll see to the end of this just like how we saw to the end of the Monpravian menace. I have to go, but do not lose hope in the meantime.” Fausthasen gave a salute then left the room, leaving Heisner sitting in his chair, deep in thought. Praying to Deus is all he can do now.

Condemnation of the Usage of Biological Pathogens as Weapons of War
As ratified by the Committee of Public Safety, first drafted by the Foreign Affairs Committee
Published in all media channels following the Draconovoxian biological weapon attacks on the neutral Porturhev

The members of the Confredien Committee of Public Safety, and all those within the Republic's government,

Recognizing the necessity of a stance regarding biological weapons with the outbreak of wars across the globe and an increasingly tense political climate;

Affirming adherence to those principles upon which the Republic was founded, in which the rights of all mankind are written, and knowing that it was the fire of war that first tempered the Republic's ideals, in which are written firm directives against the unjust harming of noncombatants;

Desiring to contribute to the strengthening of confidence between peoples and the general improvement of the international atmosphere;

Determined, for the sake of all mankind, to exclude completely the possibility of bacteriological (biological) agents and toxins being used as weapon;

Convinced that such use would be repugnant to the conscience of mankind and that no effort should be spared to minimize this risk;

Officially condemns all past and future uses of biological weapons.

Specifically, the Republic condemns with fullest fervor the usage of bacteriological rockets against the civilian centers of Porturhev by the Empire of Draconovox, between whom no war has been declared. The positioning of Porturhev as an ally against Draconovoxian aggression and brutality in their invasion of the Oncadian protectorate of Haifalem is not, in the eyes of the Republic's government, legitimate reason to consider them a non-neutral party.

The Book of Alpaida is one of many ancient tomes that make up the canonical literature of the traditional Confredian faith, a dualist religion focusing on the worship of the Moon and Her eternal struggle against the Sun. The Discipleship of Lune, as it is officially known, is the dominant faith for most of the Confredian population, though has been replaced in the upper rungs of the Republic's government by new atheist cults of scientific reason.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

ПЛАН «ЖОВТИЙ» / PLAN YELLOW

====================

STAGE 1: INITIAL ATTACK

- Deploy rapid-response units
- Retreat to deny encirclement
- Activate army corps and declare martial law
====================

The opening weeks of Galayar’s unprovoked have conjured scenes of horror and carnage not seen since the Great War.
As Styldavian troops on the front line scramble to repel the invaders, the officers of the General Bulava put Plan Zhovtyy (“Yellow”) into effect— a contingency specifically designed to contain a surprise attack by Galayar.

All along the frontline, the initial advances of the invasion meet with mixed results, depending on the readiness of the defending Styldavian units. At some points on the line, Galayarese troops achieve tactical surprise and quickly overwhelm the Styldavians, forcing local retreats. Elsewhere, advances enjoy early success before becoming bogged down in fierce fighting. In other areas, well-prepared and entrenched Styldavians use their knowledge of local terrain to catch Galayarese conscripts off guard and inflict heavy casualties.

On a broader strategic level, the Styldavians have several points in their favor. Despite Galayar’s considerable air power, the skies over Zadneskovia and Morovina remain highly contested, with neither side able to gain air superiority. The Galayarese are unable to ground the Styldavian Air Force or their NSP allies, and fire support sorties by Galayarese planes are soon contested or even repelled, resulting in losses on both sides— of planes and experienced pilots.

Furthermore, the initial moves of Operation Zapad fail to paralyze Styldavian command and control at higher levels. Thus, the commanders of the army corps and viyska are able to swiftly rally a defense of their sectors.

As the lines of battle are drawn, two operational directions begin to emerge, reflecting Zapad’s operational objectives.

Due to its proximity to the Galayarese border, the city of Chornopil in the far north quickly becomes a focus of the fighting in Zadneskovia Oblast. The oblast is divided into two military districts housing the 1st Army Corps under Heneral-khorunzhyy Viktor Petrushevych and the 8th Army Corps under Heneral-khorunzhyy Serhii Kotenko. Together they compromise the 3rd Viysko, a total strength of 12 divisions commanded by Heneral-chotovyy Yuriy Prylypko.

For unknown reasons, the opposing Galayarese V Falanga under C. Kaloyanov does not initially press the attack into Zadneskovia, opting instead to probe Styldavian defenses with air/artillery strikes. Kaloyanov’s exact operational objectives are currently unknown, but it is presumed that his falanga will attempt to push west toward Kyrih.

With limited strategic depth, Petrushevych arranges his six divisions in a defensive line running from the Dnesko River to the town of Olenivka, which is defended by the 15th Mechanized Division. Meanwhile, Kotenko orders his troops to withdraw to better positions behind the border, with the 4th Mechanized and 5th and 6th Tank Divisions guarding the approach to Bodnariv in 3rd Viysko’s center. The town of Novyy Rozdil is defended by the 12th and 13th Mechanized Divisions, while the approach to Dobrovidka is guarded by the lone 1st Rifle Division. However, these divisions enjoy a defensive advantage in the mountainous terrain of southern Zadneskovia.

In Morovina Oblast (defended by Temnytskyy’s 2nd Viysko) the course of the war is more dramatic. Under V. Shpilman, Galayarese forces of II Falanga attacked the border town of Bokhny as the opening move of Zapad. For Galayar, Bokhny held strategic value because it lay at the entrance of a natural corridor between the Nerava River in the south and the more mountainous terrain near Khlalyuk in the north.

After a sudden, well-coordinated assault by the 9th Infantry Division, the town of Bokhny is in Galayarese hands, despite spirited resistance by local National Guard detachments, rapidly-assembled Territorial Defense units, and the Aetheodish 2nd Infantry Division. Although the city fell on September 23rd, Styldavian officials did not publicly acknowledge the loss until the 24th. The outcome of the 2nd Infantry’s retreat is unknown.

The fall of Bokhny has created a gap in 2nd Viysko’s line since the Aetheodish 5th Here guards the sector between the viysko’s subordinate corps, the 9th and 13th. The allies scramble to fill the gap, while the local Styldavian units prepare to dig in. In northern Morovina, Heneral-khorunzhyy Stefan Malynovskyy’s 9th Army Corps defends the approach to Chervona Hora, the oblast’s second-largest city. Taking advantage of hilly terrain, two rifle divisions (2nd and 3rd) prepare a defense of Khlalyuk, while the remaining divisions act as a screening force for the 5th Here’s left flank. Farther south on the other side of the Bokhny corridor, Heneral-khorunzhyy Kazymyr Doroshenko’s 13th Army Corps desperately fights to prevent more Galayarese troops from crossing the Nerava. Under Doroshenko’s orders, nearly every bridge across the river is blown up to slow the Galayarese advance, although this will only temporarily halt their westward momentum. Doroshenko’s northernmost divisions (5th Mechanized and the 8th and 9th Tank Divisions) hastily form a screen to counter any advance towards Telvanykivka and prevent the units along the Nerava from being flanked.

Reports of Galayar deploying chemical weapons against the defenders of Bokhny have been passed to the highest levels of Styldavian military leadership. Thanks to previous experience in dealing with the literal fallout of the 1961 Kladentsi disaster, Styldavian troops are well-equipped to operate in a dangerous contaminated environment. Along the entire front, soldiers are issued anti-chemical protective gear and warned to be on guard against future chemical attacks.

Despite their preparations for a Galayarese invasion, the divisions along the border are spread thin and outnumbered. Operational reserves are prepared by mobilizing corps from the other military districts of the republic and sending them east. The 3rd Army Corps is rushed to Pavlohrad directly from Kyrih on September 14th, while five divisions of the 7th Army Corps arrive in Psmiv on September 21st. The 12th Army Corps reaches Chervona Hora on the 18th, six divisions from Kalisiya. These corps will be subordinated directly to Heneral-bulavnyy Oleksandr Kutsyn, overall commander of Eastern Front.

Raflandia is a country with about 23 million people. Though its national government has very little power, Raflandia has many private councils, which have built up coalitions somewhat comparable to states. They are, in order of population, the Treesian alliance, the Outer Frostharbour network, Raflan and the Inland Network. These "states" each operate their own militaries.
Treesian Alliance
- Contains de fact capital Port Treesia
- Population of about 10 million, concentrated in Port Treesia and outer suburbs.
- There's like 1 army and naval base in Port Treesia

Tanks: 100

Airforce Strength: 100
Planes: 30
Helicopters: 5

Navy Strength: 2000 (active), 500 (reserve)

ДИПЛОМАТІЯ ‘64 / DIPLOMACY '64

With war raging on nearly every continent of Coldonia, Styldavians increasingly see the struggle on their own soil as merely one facet of a global upheaval. The Republic's diplomatic establishment views these developments as a horrific breakdown of the world order enshrined at the end of the Great War. The bloody conflicts of 1964 seem to prove that the cynics were right all along; hopes of a stable peace were only a fleeting dream— one that could not survive the reality of humanity's greed and thirst for power.

Styldavia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Henryk Vyshinskyy, may be the one man in the Republic who is not fazed by the chaos. In a dramatic press conference in the Styldavian capital, he declares the beginning of a "Second Great War"— a statement which would have been unthinkable a decade ago. For Vyshinskyy, and the newer generation of “realist” Styldavian diplomats, the chaos of worldwide conflict is simply the natural state of Coldonia. It was the long post-war peace that was abnormal.

During the chaotic first weeks of the war, Styldavian diplomats acted tirelessly to fight Galayar in the realm of foreign relations. The Republic’s ambassadors abroad worked to affirm the unity of the North Sea Pact while urging uninvolved nations to support Styldavia’s right to self-defense.

In the OCS, Styldavia’s permanent representative Lev Kravchenko fiercely denounced the invasion before the Assembly, calling it an “unprovoked and unjustifiable crime against the Styldavian people” as well as an “unforgivable breach of the Coldonian Accords.” He stated that present and future Styldavian military operations were a legitimate exercise of the right to national self-defense, despite the lack of an official declaration of war.

His speech concluded with a demand for international censure of Galayar, through a resolution co-signed by Aetheodish representative Theobold Hampton. Among other points, OCS Resolution No. 11 would formally condemn Galayar’s invasion, and, more shockingly, suspend Galayar’s OCS membership for the duration of hostilities.

POST-SCRIPT:

In addition to diplomacy against Galayar, Styldavia formally takes a side in Oncadia's long-running war with Draconovox. In the Oncadian capital of Montais, Styldavian ambassador Stepan Zelenko officially condemns Drakonov cruelty against the native population of Haifalem and the use of biological weapons against Porturhevian civilians. Zelenko additionally promises that Styldavia will back any Oncadian initiative to diplomatically isolate Draconovox, but does not go so far as to offer military or financial aid.

While Confredia's Condemnation of the Usage of Biological Pathogens as Weapons of War is not a binding OCS resolution, it finds much support among Styldavia's population, who have learned to fear the spectre of mass destruction weapons. A motion to endorse the statement is promptly passed by the Rada, and it is officially co-signed by Styldavia's ambassador to Confredia, Volodymyr Lukashenko.

"That's highly irresponsible, our army could never bear to battle against them"
"WHAT AM I PAYING YOU FOR, get me the others, the Admiral and Air Force guy."
"Yes sir. I'll arrange for a dicussion with the armed forces and the leaders of the other regions."

General Stevens-Johnson hung up. God help this nation.

The First Battle of Bokhny

September 15th-23rd, 1964

The battle opened with a skirmish in and around the outlying villages to the north and east of the city. Company sized formations of mere hundreds were facing off against divisions in their thousands. Despite their overwhelming conventional superiority, the Galayarese elected to resort to weapons of terror to cow and destroy the men of the 2nd Infantry, but they donned their protective gear and fought on, attempting to delay the inevitable for as long as possible, to buy time for civilians to evacuate.

However, the writing was on the wall, and by the eighth day of fighting, the 2nd Infantry had been pushed to the western suburbs. After a fierce mobile fight by the 4th and 6th Armored divisions to secure a corridor to the west, the 2nd managed to escape Bokhny.

Of the 15,000 men of the 2nd Infantry Division, 11,319 escaped, with an unknown number of Galayarese soldiers strewn throughout the streets of Bokhny. Most of the 8th Infantry Brigade, which had been assigned the outer picket, has been destroyed, with the 6th taking extensive casualties during a desperate fight for the city hall and nearby cathedral.

Though many civilians managed to escape, the majority of Bokhny's residents were unable to do so. Outlying Hamlets to the Northeast saw almost none of their populations escape. Uhniv, in particular, saw a gruesome death toll as early gas attacks wiped out the local populace as well as the defending garrison.

The Exodus

September 15th-30th, 1964

The Battle for Bokhny coincided with a mad scramble by the rest of the 5th Here to establish a coherent defense in the western foothills of the Spinal Mountains. Under orders of Heremaster Whitmore, all civilians in the sector are to evacuate, with long convoys of civilian vehicles, buses, and army trucks clogging up the roads. It is fortunate, then, that the enemy had seemingly shifted their focus to the south. It is assumed by high command that the objective of the enemy is to take Telvanykivka and cut off the overland supply lines to Vardiansk, which has thus far resisted Galayarese advance.

The Battle for the Skies I

September 15th-30th, 1964

The 9th Fighter Group and the 6th Bomber Wing were engaging in a series of excercises when war broke out, meaning that many planes were undergoing maintenance and refueling as the sirens blared.

Those planes of the 9th Fighter Group that could scramble were hastily assembled into 3 battlegroups, each assigned a sector of the front. As the enemy was numerous, the Aetheodish adopted a tactic of divide and conquer, attempting to achieve local superiority for a strike mission before their foes could react.

The 6th Bomber Wing, on the other hand, is being held in reserve, preparing for a "special mission" as transport planes loaded with special forces are being flown in to Vardiansk...

Retaliation

The RAF's cruise missile program goes back to the final years of the Great War, though the program hadn't produced a missile until some years after the war. Over the decades, the military turned to the missile program as a way to make up for its reduction in size following the Great War.

In response to the need for a weapon with intercontinental capabilities, the RAF developed the CM-7, which initially struggled with guidance failures. One notable error came when a test launch aimed for Dalland flew off course and vanished somewhere off the coast of Rhufoniog, which had triggered a minor diplomatic crisis over the whole ordeal. Eventually, however, the problems were ironed out, and the missiles have a somewhat reasonable accuracy, for the time.

The night of 17th September, 1964

In response to the use of chemical weapons, and after a long debate in high command, a dozen known military installations and logistical hubs on the Galayarese side of the border have been marked for missile strikes, with the aim of shocking the enemy and hampering their ability to support their offensive. 30 cruise missiles with conventional explosive warheads have been launched, crossing the continent within an hour. Of the 30, 21 do not drift off course, the remainder either crashing into empty fields or urban areas.

Surprise Attack, New Years 1965

“The success of an assailant’s attack depends on surprise, and if you’re sufficiently alert to prevent a surprise, your counterattack is already halfway to being successful.”
-- Bruce Lee

"In a televised event today, the Oncadian president officially condemned the buildup of Raflandian soldiers on the borders of Etchemin, citing that such an attack on the province would be 'illegal and unjustified', and tantamount to 'an attempted annexation of a core Oncadian province'. With fears of war coming to Etchemin after the Draconov invasion of Haifalem just last year, citizens are calling out for an official military response to the threat in the South."

The television shut off as the office became very quiet.

"Yes sir, the Raflandians have crossed the border. Yes, sir, their current strength is unknown, but we think we have information on what they're planning. Yes, sir, we've already deployed our naval assets to the area, and yes we're meeting with Southern Military Command this afternoon. Thank you, sir."
The aide packed up his briefcase and swiftly exited the office to the war room.

With tensions in Haifalem high and Etchemin in a strategic location, vital to the war effort, a massive amount of soldiers have been built up in the area. With the second troop surge slowly beginning to take effect, Etchemin has been used as a staging platform for soldiers and supplies being sent to and from the Southern Districts. As of the start of the Raflandian invasion, 27000 soldiers of the Oncadian Army are currently stationed in Etchemin, a mix of recruits sent directly from Oncadia and waiting for transport into Haifalem, and a series of battered veteran divisions being sent back to Haifalem for reinforcement and rest. Alongside the increased amount of soldiers, the 5th Flotte under command of the Southern Military Naval District has been deployed to ensure the safe passage of Oncadian soldiers throughout the Southern Seas. Now with conflict closer to home on the horizon, they have been partially redeployed to ensure the failure of any blockade attempts on Etchemin. Several vessels, cruisers, and destroyers from the 2nd and 4th Flotte, deployed in Oncadia and Haifalem respectively, have been moved to the Southern Military Naval District and are now making their way South to reinforce the battered supply lines.

As Oncadian soldiers, sailors, and airmen prepare for war in Haifalem, it seems war has come to them instead. With Etchemin's vital importance to the continuation of our nation, Oncadians are steadfast in their readiness for war. Defenses are set up along highways and defensible positions, and jet fighters take to the skies to protect the soldiers below.

Recalling the 2nd Fleet

War has once again reached the continent and this development has alarmed the president and his cabinet. It has been long known that RaFLaNdIa, our eastern neighbor is unpredictable. It was also suspected by the confederate military intelligence bureau that in comparison, with the large militant confederacy, their military is incredibly lacking and small. Given their position of aggression against the confederate trade partner on the continent, it seems only right to prepare for war.

On orders from the president, the second fleet and the flagship FCS “Negansett” has been called back to ports in Norshire and the bay of Carolina. Military spending projects have focused on putting the coastal installations of the confederacy to good use. A massive project was launched following the Civil War, and the annexation of the Norshire territory to build a large naval and marine base known as Naval Station Talmage, named after the naval hero of the confederacy. Because of its new construction, this naval station has seen no particularly pressing military action. A division of marines have been stationed here since they returned from Monpravia following the OCS joint venture and an attached naval yard has been producing destroyers for service, but the large base has really remained dormant until now. The recall order has created quite a commotion as the base prepares to host large elements of the fleet. Base assets will also go to preparing the northern territories of the nation for war. This means that a new marine commander will take command of the division at the Talmadge station to begin advanced training of the Marines stationed there.

An official condemnation from the desk of President Budd has also been issued to RaFLaNdIa along with a promise that if the fledgling Republic does not stand down from their military venture on the Oncadian colony, the Raflandian puppet Neoraflan and the Raflandian economy will face the consequences.

In one weeks time (in game), Confederate military operations will begin if no response is received

Pestilence and war.

"When the Lamb ripped off the second seal, I heard the second Animal cry, “Come out!” Another horse appeared, this one red. Its rider was off to take peace from the earth, setting people at each other’s throats, killing one another. He was given a huge sword." Revelation 6:3-4

As the 12 arrows, with poison and diseas at their tips, flew high into the sky and sought to strike Porturhev's most important cities it was Deus' will that some may go stray. With only 4 succesful impacts on cities proper, 5 that simply did not go off in the intended way, and one that missed its target and instead hit a nearby farmhouse.

The four cities ravaged by the disease were: Buceta, a coastal city that proved useful for trade with the Wosekans; Porto, the second biggest and most important city in Porturhev, holding many riches and an important naval history with one of the biggest shipyards in the nation; Alzane, an Enzokaran border town that not only took trade from the Enzokrans but also from the Wosekans, being the main point of transportation between the three on the continent; and lastly, La Hacienda, an administrative center for the central, inner part of the nation. The chaos that followed the strikes lasted only a week before the cities were put under control by both local law enforcement and the state's L.G.P., yet the damage was evident and already at a point where it would not be easily fixed, with many falling sick from mostly tuberculosis and the flu, but other diseases were also present, although less effective for one reason or another. These cities were quickly isolated from the rest of the nation along with curfews being imposed on them, with a mix of elements from both the L.G.P. and the armed forces once the government realized the extent of the epidemic, with the navy helping keep any ships from exiting while the armed forces would ensure a perimeter around the city, and the L.G.P. would be in charge of doing the undesirable job of going into the city proper and enforcing the curfew along with delivering groceries and medical supplies to each home.

These whole endeavors in the affected cities would prove incredibly costly for the nation, with a not unsignificant amount of money being not only lost but also spent in an effort to keep the people who had not been infected alive along with those with a chance of recovery. Such sicknesses have yet to spread to the surrounding villages, but the cities themselves have been completely engulfed.

There is nothing much to say from those that were not affected, with it either being due to a failure in the misisle to properly deploy the patogens or the disease being simply too deadly and killing its patients too quickly, leaving the rest safe, yet forced to quarantine in the actual meaning of the word. The only notable thing is the missile that missed its target and hit the farmhouse, which resulted in the farmer and the village he sold crops to all dying of a respiratory disease, with their bodies being cremated and the village burnt to the ground to avoid any possibility of infected resedue.

Yet there is no lack of patriots in the recruitment offices after the attack, those whose families have been affected by the disease or simply felt a calling following this attack on Porturhev have begun singing up in drove. Each and every man is screened for any sign of disease before being sent off to basic camp, where they would be shaped into soldiers and sent to fight with the Oncadian brothers or help relieve the nation one way or another. Record numbers were reached and the nation had begun, although slowly and painfully, preparing to go fight a foreign war that had become a personal feud for many of the men being sent off. The air force would also be deployed, seeking to provide critical support to the ground forces in Haifelem and eliminate the elements that have been terrorizing the locals.

Raflandia's bravest

Jeff McBeff stands in front of other influential politicians from Raflandia, and General Stevens-Johnson.

"People of Raflandia, yesterday, the great leaders of our nations largest private councils and the national government voted to launch a special military operation on the illegitimate Oncadian annex of Etchemin. Raflandia's bravest have been sent to fight their attempt to build an empire. I encourage all of you to join our military reserves and fight for this nation.

We have watched the country or shall I say War Machine of Oncadia send out its colonial settlers across the World. We will fight against imperialism in this Continent. We will say no.

It is clear that we are the dominant power of this continent, as opposed to the clown that is President Budd of the Fire Born. President Budd's claims that our military is lacking and small are ridiculos. We have a perfectly average sized military. There is nothing wrong with our military. Our military is pretty big if you ask me.

We will take no questions at this point"
