The League | Home

Welcome to The League!

Welcome to the Grand Republic of The League! Originally founded on 17 April 2016, the League has grown into a military and cultural powerhouse. Led by the three-person Consulate of the Republic, the League is home to the venerated League's Defense Forces as well as the Terraconserva worldbuilding roleplay. Several members of our community have been commended for their active service and participation in the region's military and roleplay, and our region as a whole was commended in 2024 due to our expansive roleplay and active role in defending regions.

In addition to this, our region is the host of The League Wiki, the largest regional wiki of any region on NationStates. The League Wiki is currently home to about 9,000 pages, the majority of which relates to our Terraconserva roleplay.

Military
The League's Defense Forces (LDF) is our regional military, comprised of volunteers from The League alongside our sister region of Concord. The LDF is a defender power, meaning that it stands in opposition against raider regions that terrorize vulnerable communities. The LDF has participated in several large liberations and anti-raider operations since it was created in 2021, and several active members of the LDF have been recognized for their contributions to the defender cause.

The League's Defense Forces proudly participated in several historic operations recently, including:

  • The largest liberation in NationStates history, with over 220 defenders (including 29 LDF members) participating: the Liberation of LKL, where a force of over 100 raiders seeking to destroy the region was defeated

  • The largest single-update liberation in NationStates history: the Liberation of Dystopian Utopia, where a record 160 defenders freed an innocent region in a single update.

Roleplay
Terraconserva is our worldbuilding-centric roleplay that was established in 2019. Unlike previous roleplays which often focused on territorial expansion and interplayer modern military conflict, the borders of the modern world in Terraconserva are relatively fixed, and the main goal of the roleplay is to flesh out your nation and how it interacts with the world. There's four components to participating in our roleplay:

  • The Regional Message Board (RMB) of The League serves as a common ground to make in-character posts. These can be from the perspective of characters, stories, new articles, and government reports. For anyone who has done RP in a region before, this is probably the most familiar aspect.

  • The League Wiki is where we write and document most RP canon, particularly historical RP. It allows users to create Wikipedia-style pages, and because it's using the same software that powers Wikipedia style pages, it can do much more complex and advanced formatting than is available with dispatches.

  • The LinkLeague and Concord forums are where we process sign-up applications, as well as other high profile roleplay applications, such as nuclear power in each nation.

  • The LinkDiscord is where we coordinate the roleplay from an out-of-character perspective. All roleplayers are able to access #tra-general, a channel where general chatter about the roleplay takes place, and threads in that channel exist on matters ranging from the world climate to natural resources by nation.

Government
The government of The League is overseen by the Consulate. According to the constitution of the Republic, the Consulate is responsible for governing the region and appointing officers to oversee culture, internal affairs, foreign affairs, and security. The Consulate presides over the Council of the Republic and is currently comprised of Gagium, Mechanocracy, and Entropan. The Chief Consul, who is responsible for organizing and leading discussions in the Consulate, is currently Gagium.

The Council of the Republic is the main governmental body of The League. It is composed of Delegates of the Republic, who can Linkapply on the forums and are approved by the Consulate. The Council is tasked with drafting and voting on legislation, as well as advising the Consulate in internal and foreign affairs matters. Participation on the Council is usually a first step towards being involved in regional government. The Council of the Republic is currently led by Speaker of the Council Avengis.

There are several executive departments as well. These institutions derive their authority from the Consulate and are overseen by the Council. They are as follows:

  • The Department of Culture is responsible for managing events and activities for the enjoyment and engagement of the regions. It is currently led by Director New Illyricum.

  • The Department of Foreign Affairs is responsible for aiding the Consulate in forming relationships with other regions and responding to global events. It is currently led by Director Imperial Pittsburgh.

  • The Department of Internal Affairs is responsible for improving integration of new nations and aiding in the processing of new citizens. It is currently led by Director Visiania.

  • The Department of Roleplay is responsible for managing the Terraconserva worldbuilding roleplay and its staff, including cartographers and moderators. It is currently led by Director Paleocacher.
