° The Japanese Passports is an official document certifying the bearers identity and Japanese nationality. It is required for international travel and is issued in three types: Ordinary, Official, and Diplomatic. Japanese passport holders enjoy visa-free or simplified entry to many countries, including the U.S., Western Europe, Australia, and others. Visas are still required for some destinations, particularly in Eastern Europe, parts of Asia, and Africa. Citizens are advised to check visa requirements and any travel advisories before departure. The passport remains the property of the Government of Japan, and any loss must be reported immediately. The Ministry continues to improve passport services to support safe and smooth international travel for Japanese citizens.
