Foreign Relations


France is a founding member of the United Nations and serves as one of the permanent members of the UN Security Council with veto rights. It is also a founding member of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, although it is not present in its integrated military command. Overall, France often strives to maintain an independent path in international relations, while staying in the "Western" sphere according to Cold War geopolitics. It is open to any and all relations.
