MoDMA oversees most of Zion's security forces, including the Zionite Imperial Defence Forces (ZIDF), the paramilitary Magav Police, the Shoah Prevention Task Force (SPTF), the Military Intelligence Service and Kurdish Peshmerga.

The MoDMA states that its principal objectives are to defend the Imperium of the Greater Zionite Kingdom, its interests and Jewish minorities internationally, as well as to strengthen international peace and stability.

History

Organisation

The Commander-in-chief of the Zionite Imperial Defence Forces is the Zionite monarch, King Melech III, to whom members of the forces swear allegiance. The armed forces are managed by the Defence Council of the Zionite Imperial Ministry of Defence and Military Affairs, headed by the Captain of the Guard. The ZIDF is headed by its Captain of the Guard and Chief of the Defence Staff, which are subordinate to the Secretary of State for Defence.

Constitutionally, the Sovereign is the de jure Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Captain of the Guard is it's de jure leader. However, in practice, Zion's Government de facto exercises the Royal Prerogative and provides direction of the Armed Forces through the MoDMA's Defence Council of which the Chief of the Defence Staff is a member.

Defence policy

The 2015 Strategic Defence Policy Review, conducted in the aftermath of the Third Arab Revolt, set a defence policy with six primary missions for Zion's Armed Forces:
  • Defend and contribute to, both the external and internal security, as well as the resilience of Zion

  • Combat Socialist and Arab aggression, externally as well as internally

  • Reinforce international security, the collective capacity of our allies and partners and protection of Jewish Minority groups

  • Defend fellow Hebrew nations and Hebrew minorities globally

  • Provide a strong nuclear deterrent

  • Contribute to improved understanding of the world through strategic intelligence and the global defence network

The 2015 Strategic Defence Policy Review also outlined the following posture for Zion's Armed Forces:

  • The ability to support five simultaneous small- to medium-scale operations, with at least one as an enduring peace-keeping mission. These forces must be capable of representing Zion as lead nation in any coalition operations.

  • The ability, at short notice, to deploy defensive forces, in defence of Zionite interests, in event of emergency within 4 hours.

  • The ability, at short notice, to deploy rapid reactionary forces, in defence of allies and Zionite interests, in event of emergency within 120 hours.

  • The ability, at longer notice, to deploy forces in a large-scale operation while running a concurrent small-scale operation.

Current threats

  • Arab Socialist Resistance
