The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is a mammoth, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its state-planned economy, punitive income tax rates, and stringent health and safety legislation. The quiet, industrious population of 8.65 billion vampires are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 58.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but sluggish vampiric economy, worth 204 trillion pocketwatches a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Soda Sales, and Cheese Exports. Average income is 23,668 pocketwatches, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Scarlet Devil's national animal is the bat, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Scarlet Devil is ranked 223,969^th in the world and 22^nd in Gensokyo for Largest Publishing Industry, scoring -1.35 on the Bella Potter Productivity e-Index.
