The Megalithic Mushroom Cult of Monolithic is a gargantuan, genial nation, notable for its multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, punitive income tax rates, and devotion to social welfare. The democratic population of 28.157 billion Monolithicians enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The enormous, liberal, socially-minded government prioritizes Welfare, although Public Transport, Healthcare, and Education are also considered important. The average income tax rate is 74.6%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but sluggish Monolithician economy, worth 745 trillion Liths a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is broadly diversified, is led by the Cheese Exports industry, with significant contributions from Retail, Tourism, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales. Average income is 26,466 Liths, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Meat-eating is frowned upon, all recreational drugs are legal, military barracks resemble five-star hotels, and Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Monolithic's national animal is the Mono, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Monolithic is ranked 70,932^nd in the world and 1^st in Space Jesus for Nicest Citizens, with 15.9 average smiles per day.
