A Written Map Of Gonswanza

Despite attempts to further the country (and make it seem far larger than it really is) the country is actually a rather simple and harsh landscape, being a chain of islands surrounding three larger islands akin to a cup holding three chunks of beef with a volcanic crater at the dead center of the mess. Despite moves to try to improve the environment and protect local jungles, industrialization has ravaged the landscape, perhaps for the better. The smaller islands restrict the movement of ships and limit them to a few "safe" routes through to the mainland due to the presence of reefs and jagged mountains of rock hidden under the waves. These outer islands vary in shape and size, given they range from the size of Rhode Island to the size of Tasmania with geography varying from lush, toxic jungles to hazardous mountains and even a few stratovolcanoes which erupt every so often with minimal risk to the locals.

Moving further in, the three main islands are the size of Texas, if Texas were cloned three times over and reshaped into three islands. The first is home to the majority of the population, guarded by mountains along the coast with desert being restrained within this "bowl", though due to recent events, this desert has become fertile with researchers heading out to look into the matter. The second island houses smaller population centers along with industrial complexes, given ancient jungles and a loose string of mountains cutting the island in half. People have taken to living in the former mines there, adapting them into hardened shelters and even digging deeper almost as if preparing for war. The final island houses a majority of the military complex, dotted with hills, mountains, jungles, and rolling fields. Despite the difficulty of moving around and resupplying, the logistics are simplified with tunnel networks connecting the regions while also allowing movement around the central caldera, paired to bridges and elevated tunnels to connect the trio of islands together.

That aside, the island is strangely devoid of glaciers, being located in the tropics off the west coast of South America, south of the equator.

Now, as for the capital, it's a rather new political complex built into an undersea cavern that is deep underground (and effectively part of the continental shelf). With no real access topside that can be attacked, the only way in and out is via submersible vehicles which are referred to as "water busses". However, there has been a proposal to connect it to the larger tunnel network, or to have a long vertical shaft with a spiral staircase wrapped around the comical elevator shaft "to hell"... None of these are going through, but the access tunnel is being considered with no moves made on it... Yet.
