Military Doctrine

With an ever-growing military complex, it has changed doctrine only slightly. The navy and air force will play a more defensive role in conflicts, drawing the enemy into the "castle" and within range of anti-air and anti-ship defenses, however, the navy is also open for more offensive operations generally under the cover of drone warfare or delivery of special operations units. Drone warfare is still exploited regardless to engage and destroy vulnerable areas in a hostile nation's defenses before the navy and air force proper can deliver much harsher blows to aid in securing landing areas. Offensively, the military is not too strong, but they can quickly and easily chip away at the enemy using rather cheap, inexpensive drones that would eventually be shot down by expensive and likely more advanced missiles.

That aside, landing operations commence as such: the first waves are led by a swarm of cruise missiles and loitering munitions followed by unmanned fast attack craft, then landing ships proper to form a secure area. Aircraft, both manned and unmanned, will also provide cover against offending defensive fighters and bombers. Once the beachhead is established, infantry and tanks will push in to try to strike deep into enemy territory and breach the lines, exploiting the tactic of "deep operations". With every successful advance, the air force will chase along and support the infantry while tanks aid the infantry. Drones will be exploited every inch of the way, wreaking havoc among supply lines and destroying communications along with raising unrest within the civilian population given the destruction of infrastructure as well. Of course, the goal generally is a run on the capital, while securing lines for logistics and reinforcing them with armored and armed convoys.

Adding to this, the various branches of the military have offered some proposals, including a dedicated unmanned "drone ship" that can quickly travel to any one location and deploy a swarm of drones en mass, beyond the range of anti-aircraft defenses with intent to swamp said defenses and perform SEAD operations with minimal loss of life before the true air war can begin... Along with various other options to offer a swift and almost bloodless victory in the case of war.

Speaking of infantry, the typical soldier would be armed with either an AR-416, LinkASG-10S, LinkAR-55, or an LinkSKS (7.62x54mmR) with a nifty LinkField Pistol as their sidearm. Finishing off the kit, they also carry the LinkHangman, an Igorot ax, or an 8-inch double-edged dagger which looks more akin to a gross corruption of the Ka-Bar design. Typically, their gear and ammo capacity allows for them to stay entrenched in a given position, but if need be they can easily spring to the offensive and tear through the ranks, fueled by their own patriotic desires.

Aside from the typical riflemen, you also have the machine gunners and grenadiers, armed with a selection of weapons that include the LinkMikor MGL (40x51mm), and LinkM320 (in 40x51mm) for the latter, with the LinkPKP, LinkAEK-999 and LinkUVZ 59 (7.62x54mmR) for the former, with the intent of offering sustained fire support. Anti-tank weapons vary but usually are the typical PSRL-1, SMAW, SMAW-D, RPO-A Shmel, M202 FLASH, RPG-32, and PF-98. It's all dependent on the mission, location, and what exactly they are fighting.

However, for anti-air... Yea... Uh... The Sword exists. Plus the LinkVerba, LinkStrela and various AA complexes (check misc vehicles).

Beyond that, there are the bunkers that are built into the mountains, along with the tunnel network and the naval outposts which are also modeled after bunker complexes. All in all, this allows the Gonswanzan army to dig in for a long and brutal defensive battle with civilian militias (using AR-416s, pump-action shotguns, and revolvers for every man, woman, and child to play their part), while also extending the defensive range of naval craft as they can loiter far from friendly shores without needing to fall back to resupply. Paired to anti-air defenses and radar on said artificial island outposts, it also enables for an early warning system to allow the Gonswanzan air force and navy to react quickly to incoming threats, intercepting and destroying them before they can come within range of Gonswanza to attack the mainland.

Offensive tactics? Oh, right. The intent is to simply overwhelm the enemy, crushing resistance and using the terrain to one's advantage. Tactics vary mildly, but in general, it follows such:

The airforce offers a swift and sudden strike against anti-air defenses, hardpoints, bunkers (using earth-penetrating munitions), and any infrastructure as well, if possible within the first wave. If not, the second wave will follow up quickly while exploiting holes in enemy air defense systems. After the ground is locked down, the war for the air is next, so as to secure enemy airspace and ensure that it stays that way with the Colossus among other things. Finally, support for the ground will come in airdrops and airlifts, though the airlifts can be pulled off in the "first wave" if so needed.

Helicopters operate closely with infantry, moving swiftly and aiding in overcoming obstacles, while also providing a flying "gunship" through mounted weapons.

Infantry is sent in with armor, usually in mechanized or dedicated tank formations, with the mechanized infantry advancing ahead of the main armored force, while infantry offers a buffer zone with added support as "reserves" for the mechanized units. Moving together, they are meant to strike hard and fast against dug-in enemy units, reacting and evading while maneuvering around to "flow like water" and take advantage of the terrain while also using drones to aid in recon and reaction against enemy units. Airdropped units are typically placed behind enemy lines, either to capture certain objectives or splinter off and destroy lines of logistics or infrastructure. When resorting to chemical or incendiary weapons, the lines shift around, placing infantry at the front with armor directly behind them to support offensive thrusts into enemy territory. This of course changes in a hell zone of guerrilla warfare, where COIN operations are key, as instead, they would resort to operating in smaller groups while staying on the radio, using drones to augment their operational effectiveness.

Should mines be encountered, mine-clearing vehicles clear the path ahead, along with precise strikes from aircraft, helis or UAVs to prematurely detonate mines well ahead of the advance.

As a counter to reinforce newly established hardpoints, minefields are laid down beyond friendly lines to hinder enemy advances and attacks, hence, reinforcing the presence of ground troops and offering a buffer against possible attacks by guerrilla fighters.

The navy is a bit of an odd one out, but still flexible in how they work. In offensive operations they can offer a hail of cruise missiles to simply overwhelm one's defenses, even showering whole areas in "fire" as their targets range from airfields to anti-ship defenses and maybe even entire military bases or ports. Submarines silently stalk enemy shipping, before ambushing them with torpedoes and/or anti-ship missiles, to ensure an absolute kill. Carriers are closely guarded, with a screen of unmanned and manned vessels guarding the task forces 24/7/365. Typically, however, the intent is to force the enemy into a kill box, using torpedoes to herd them into the zone through defensive maneuvers, then anti-ship missiles are launched en mass with guided torpedoes to follow up. The end result is a hail of fire and death, overwhelming CIWS and forcing the enemy to choose how to react after being forced into a tight area.

Finally, the space force. Their goal is to simply cut communications by any means necessary, neutralize GPS satellites, force the enemy to come to terms with a blackout of information. While the navy, airforce, and army can aid them, they are the ones who have the final say when it comes to killing satellites. Adding to that, they are also willing to try curious methods of moving infantry quickly from one region to another via "dropships", though it seems for now that such an idea will be canned, given the sheer logistics of doing so. Defensively, their mission is similar in turn... Deny information, screw over comms and even try to counteract orbital weapons if those somehow appear.
