Darnolf the Conqueror: A told story

The man later to be the first High King of all Bolrieg was born Darnolf deras-druios-gfrez Karlolov in 976 AD in a tiny farm outside the city of Andautonia a farm that barely produced enough to feed the chickens let alone the family so they were forced to eat mud to survive. But in 983 when Darnolf was just 7 his parents died of wils disease (probably their diet) and he was left to the harsh reality of where he was in a land where 300 petty squabbling kingdoms idly bickered and killed hundreds over just an inch of land while 2 massive empires on either side, The Eastern Roman Empire and The Holy Roman Empire plundered the petty states for gold, slaves and just out of idle boredom.

Out in the wilderness he was found by a group of bandits who would of just have killed him there and then if their chief one Farlous Jesanbed didn't see his potential as a good worker so they took young Darnolf in. In the bandit camp life was tough as a simple mistake could mean being set on fire he learned and hardened fast and rose rapidly through the ranks to become 2nd in command his opportunity to try to take over when they decided to get pissed at the port town of Daswed where being inebriated means fights and death so he bided his time, drank little and he challenged Farlous to a duel to the death it was a one sided fight as the relatively sober Darnolf quickly decapitated the off his tits Farlous. However it backfired as the rest of the bandits realised what he was doing and kicked him out for being ungrateful and greedy.

But luck wasn't completely against him as later on that night he found a motley crewed frigate where the captain Kalsif Gred-Folged appeared to make the same mistake as seeing Darnolf as a good money bringer he knew the ropes and rose even faster through the ranks and he set this group up to protect him and only him he called them "Opatseg" these people will serve him and his descendants for all time to come.Now his time came to take over by ordering the bones not to be taken out the captains fish supper and then later on Captain Kalsif choked to death and Darnolf becomes the new captain and luck turns in his favour once again as the pirate lord died and all the other captains as well as Darnolf met at a table on a desert island but before they could decide the successor the Opatseg killed everyone at the meeting. Darnolf now just 22 rules all the pirates in Europe for years pirates have just been making easy pickings on a few islands Darnolf realised now he could take over the 300 kingdoms and unite them under one man...him.

On February the 2nd 995 the conquest begins starting with The Principality of Helfouy which was quickly overrun and conquered and well as their rivals The Kingdom of Jelway and The Fiefdom of Kadis. Darnolf learned their tactics combined them with his own and recruited their militaries within 5 years as kingdom after kingdom fell to his armies they arrived at the city state of Andautonia which he blamed for his meagre childhood he ordered it to be burned, the men killed ,the women raped and enslaved and its leaders to be put into pots of boiling pitch. When this was done he visited the derelict shack that was once his home it was said he shed his only 2 tears here one for each parent. Finished with his sentiment he went on to conquer the two remaining lands left The Kingdom of Transylvania and The Principality of Wallachia which have joined forces to stop Darnolf in his tracks but their armies that fought each other were no match Darnolfs bigger, stronger and better trained forces which the two states were no more after uniting the kingdoms Darnolf went on a pilgrimage to the centre of his lands to build his new capitol and royal palace which he used all the gold, wood, stone, marble and slaves at his disposal to build his dream city of "Shadforad" named his empire "Bolrieg" as those were what words that came to his mind and he crowned himself High King of all Bolrieg. His project was finished but the country went bankrupt as a result realising he could kill two birds in one stone he went on to take over the richer and weaker Eastern Roman Empire which would last 40 years.

The conquest of Greece went exactly to plan as the city of Athens was sacked in the same way as Andautonia, and he won a decisive victory at the battle of Kleidon when Darnolf personally ripped the eyes out of the Emperor Basil II and the rest of his troops were hung drawn and quartered, however taking over the middle east didn't go according to plan as resistance grew harder and harder until Darnolf was killed at the battle of Constantinople and Bolriegian troops were pushed back into Greece however Beldred I Darnolf's son and the new High King fought back and all Eastern Roman provinces in Europe remained in the hands of Bolrieg from then to now.
