Royal Family (WIP)

The Kingdom of Banija is ruled by the House of Katende, which is the third House to rule in Banija, the successors to the original Kizza I of the Kasanke Tribe. Three different Royal Houses have ruled in Banija- the House of Luzumana, the House of Mageba, and the House of Katende.

The monarchy is strictly patriarchal, though you can descend through either a female or male member of the royal family, though only a male can be head of the House and the reigning monarch.

The conquering of all of Banija by the Kasanke Tribe, and later on the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, was not done through military conquest, but a combination of military conquest and negotiations. Modern-day Banija was not ruled entirely by Banijans until after the two islands conquered by the Quebecois were ceded to Banija upon Banijan independence.

The titles of the eligible siblings of the ruling Monarch are Omulangiras(Dukes), while the children of the Monarch are Omugabes(Princes). Their children are also Princes. The children of Omulangiras receive the title of Kagere(Lord) or Gusti(Lady). This means the titles of many people will change every time the Crown is passed down, and, of course, that titles can be lost when the monarch changes. The title of the Crown Prince is the Isebantu.

Nobody who holds, or has ever in the past held, a royal title, is entitled to run for political office at any level, or vote in any government election at any level.

The wives of those in line to the throne receive the feminine title. Wife of an Omugabe is a Omugaba(princess); wife of an Omulangira is a Kyabazinga(Duchess), etc...)

The title of Queen Consort is Luguba. The title of Queen Mother is Sarauniya.

Any numeration will be continued via the previous lines via the House of Katende. The Pretenders to the Throne are not numbered, as they ultimately answered to Quebecois governmental authorities, and therefore were not sovereign rulers, even though they were the Head of the House of Katende.

The Royal Palace, or the residence of the Kabaka and his immediately family, is the Mujaguzo Palace.

Minority tribes(Bokassa, Kitara, and Iturbide) revolt, leading to 6 year Banijan civil war. Ends with Sebowa's capture, torture, and beheading of him and his immediately family by members of the Kitara Tribe. As he and his brothers are all dead, it makes the violent end of the Mageba House, and Queen Arlene of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec picks that moment to re-colonize and restore order to the country.

Omulangira Gonzaga of Herzegovina(1860-1929)- The brother of Kabaka Mugisha I. Gonzaga established the Banijan Royal Navy, and was it's Fleet Admiral. To this day, He remains the last, and only, Banijan soldier to be of 5 star rank.
Earl Sanyu Katende(1922-1987)- The first son of Kabaka Mugisha II, former Isebantu to the throne. Denounced his father's efforts to get involved in a war with a Banijan ally abroad- for that, his father strippped him of his titles and exiled him in the mid-1940s. Sanyu went to the Royal Kingdom of Quebec and lived out the rest of his life, eventually earning a place in that country's House of Lords as an Earl. He died in 1987.
