The Democratic Republic of Soudar is a titanic, genial nation, ruled by Ili with an even hand, and renowned for its complete lack of prisons, multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, and sprawling nuclear power plants. The compassionate, hard-working population of 17.943 billion Soudarians enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

The medium-sized, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sotopolis. The average income tax rate is 92.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Soudarian economy, worth a remarkable 3,415 trillion Sodens a year, is quite specialized and led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Retail, and Book Publishing. Average income is an impressive 190,337 Sodens, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Children talking about the food chain are routinely arrested, the nation's space program is doxxing the planet, it is said that the captain goes down with the ship but ecological protection goes up, and bin lorries have replaced birds as the source of the dawn chorus. Crime is totally unknown. Soudar's national animal is the Soudarian Elephant, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Soudar is ranked 4,480^th in the world and 1^st in The Cascade for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 85.5 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
