The Independent Space Colony of Side 3 is a titanic, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi with an iron fist, and renowned for its smutty television, soft-spoken computers, and free-roaming dinosaurs. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 17.48 billion Zeons are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government is effectively ruled by the Department of Defense, with Law & Order also on the agenda, while International Aid and Welfare receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zum City. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient Zeonic economy, worth an astonishing 11,546 trillion Zeon credits a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing and Information Technology. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is a breathtaking 660,543 Zeon credits, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.2 times as much as the poorest.

In a fit of passion Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi has shredded thirty years' worth of petitions, the "war on terror" doesn't seem to be making Zeons any less frightened, "The Pride of the Zeonic Skies" boasts an impressive 17 propellers and runs on turnip oil, and the government is hounded to provide tissues whenever the feelings of the Dàguó people are hurt. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Side 3's national animal is the eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.
