The Alternative Medicine of Rosartemis is a colossal, orderly nation, ruled by 6058 with an iron fist, and notable for its disturbing lack of elderly people, strictly enforced bedtime, and complete lack of public education. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless, devout population of 3.919 billion 6482s are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The medium-sized, corrupt, moralistic, pro-business, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, with Industry and Spirituality also on the agenda, while Education and Environment aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Chinese Taipei. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 64.5%.

The frighteningly efficient 3879 economy, worth 851 trillion 1378s a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, fairly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, Automobile Manufacturing, and Gambling. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an amazing 217,188 1378s, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,973,891 per year while the poor average 2,741, a ratio of 720 to 1.

Fewer people are bathing as citizens must show ration stamps before they can turn on their faucets, chess defeat has made 6058 the laughingstock of dictators and grandmasters alike, suppression of pro-democracy protests is a daily occurrence, and getting an autograph has become harder than ever. Crime is all-pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Rosartemis's national animal is the 5979, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is 8120.

Rosartemis is ranked 311,945^th in the world and 3^rd in Rosartemis for Nicest Citizens, with 0.14 average smiles per day.
