The Banana Nation of Republic de Tropico is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Presidente Xavier Vasquez with an iron fist, and renowned for its infamous sell-swords, smutty television, and public floggings. The compassionate, cynical population of 3.895 billion Tropicans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, corrupt, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ciudad de Tropico. The average income tax rate is 85.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The very strong Tropican economy, worth 351 trillion Tropican Pesos a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is dominated by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Arms Manufacturing, and Basket Weaving. Average income is 90,169 Tropican Pesos, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

A little pushing and pulling is needed for big ships to pass, the moral worth of national allies is judged by their GDP, Blueriver mercenaries routinely do the army's dirty work, and motorcycle riders are required to wear so much gear they've been nicknamed "Stay Pufts". Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Republic de Tropico's national animal is the Seagull, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Republic de Tropico is ranked 14,644th in the world and 946th in Balder for Lowest Crime Rates, with 94.57 law-abiding acts per hour.
