B-but mom and pop stores can't compete with successful mom and mom stores reeeeee

Alright, new poll! This week, we are going to talk about the Negative Income Tax, a progressive tax system that is more market based. It was proposed by Milton Friedman although, it origins can be traced back as far as Britain by a politician by the name of Juliet Rhys-Williams.

I'm opposed to an NIT because it seeks another way to help the the poor instead of letting them starve to death like they are supposed to, and still winds up taking money from innocent productive people by force.

I don't want to starve to death, so I work. Simple, elegant.

Didn't get to post this yesterday but, what's everybody's thoughts on the Supreme Court Ruling?

SCOTUS made the right call imo. There's a reason it was 7-2 and not 5-4.

I'm not sure how I feel. I initially thought he just refused to sell them a cake but, it looks like he refused to make a custom one, which would be a different case.

In any case, new poll!

He refused to make the cake before any design had been discussed.

I see so, in a sense, he basically discriminated against them.

So? Slavery is illegal.

This is true, I'm just pointing it out, that's all.

I think the Supreme Court should have pointed out that cake bakers are not slaves.

They have left the religious part for another time, it seems. Of course, the plaintiffs can still sue the baker on a civil case basis, which is a possibility.

Shouldn't matter. They have the 10th Amendment right to freedom of association ;)

And it looks like NB got axed.

History has been made as both the leaders of North Korea and the United States have shaken hands. What comes forward remains a mystery but, we must be optimistic but, exercise caution. Trust but, verify seems like the best saying that fits here.

Okay, new poll! This time, we'll talk about Cal-3, a proposal by a Venture Capitalist seeking to split California into three sections.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44471277

This California business is all about the electoral votes, and is basically gerrymandering. It's Republicans trying to salvage electoral votes out of a state that always gives its huge number of electoral votes to Democrats. While I have no great love for the Dems, I don't support recreating borders to influence elections one way or the other, and especially not when the GOP is in the current sorry state that it is. If you really want to fix a broken system, overhaul it. The electoral college is broken beyond repair.

Tbqh we should just make California a territory and not let it be in Congress or the EC.

I see your point and it completely makes sense. Unfortunately, California is in a sorry state (punt intended) and splitting it up would make it viable. But if California wasn't in the state it was, then I would oppose it. Of course, we should overall the voting process too.

Welcome, Christodoulopoulos to Zentari!

Alright, new poll, and a short one!

Trump has Jeff Sessions pulling strings as AG. That alone should be concerning enough to lose any libertarian support.
