Gigantic marble churches (temples) take up almost half the land area of small villages.

OOC: Ok... What did I do wrong this time? Its not a large penalty on civil rights but still. What is wrong with supporting churches at home instead of missionaries abroad?

Always knew this day would come. Kinda sad though. It was a good seven(ish) years.

You and Rommel need to get PS4s so we can continue our adventures together on other games

Since we are getting done with the NationStates, I wanted to write one last short post. Out of character this time.

I signed up for the NationStates in the summer of 2013, a couple of weeks after Joe told me about this game. I was a little bit skeptical about it because the last game Joe and I played was CyberNations, and it appeared to be a complete and utter disaster. I was in Krasnodar, the outside temperature was about to hit 40 degrees Celsius. And I really didn't want to record yet another Spreaker podcast. No harm in trying some web game, right? So I signed up.

At first, it didn't strike me as something mind-blowing, but I slowly got into it. Joined Joe's region that he created with Jannah and tried to participate in the activities that were going on. If anyone asks me what exactly was going on back then, I would not be able to recall it.

Next thing I remember was when Rommel's friend joined. Or Rommel joined with his friend's account – I can't remember. But things got interesting at that very moment: 'vodka pipelines', 'Great Wars', 'Iosif and Serjius parties', some proper political rants and rivalry/cooperation between two regions. The core of the region was formed back then.

In 2014 for some reason, we decided to create a new region – The Assembly of Independent Nations (that region was recreated by a different person – The Commonwealth of Bordurian Islands – and still exists), which was supposed to be a new home for people from two regions that we had, but then Joe chickened out of it and created yet another region. Of course, this led to some shenanigans. Some people decided to split off and created their own regions and failed miserably. I was super pissed off by Joe's decision and to this day believe that this mania to be in full control of something without even considering your friend's opinion is just a sign of some issues and insecurities that are buried deep down. I was in Greece, the outside temperature was about to hit 35 degrees Celsius. So I decided to quit the game and let my accounts go CTE.

At the very end of 2014 or at the beginning of 2015, I decided to come back and join the newly created Zemlya region, if memory serves me well. And for me, this was the Golden Age of my NationStates experience. We had so many exciting collaborations. So many posts were written in cooperation with John, Rommel, and Joe, it is actually unbelievable. In my opinion, the stories we were coming up with were better than most of the TV series. And definitely better than the GoT finale.

But here we are. I don't know why, but I really want to quote JD's monologue from the final episode of Scrubs:

"Things rarely go exactly the way you want them to, so sometimes you make due with whatever you can get… Endings are never easy; I always build them up so much in my head they can’t possibly live up to my expectations, and I just end up disappointed. I’m not even sure why it matters to me so much how things end here…

I guess it’s because we all want to believe that what we do is very important, that people hang onto our every word, that they care what we think. The truth is: you should consider yourself lucky if you even occasionally get to make someone, anyone, feel a little better. After that it’s all about the people that you let into your life.

And as my mind drifted to faces I’ve seen here before, I was taken to memories of family, of coworkers, of lost loves, even of those who’ve left us. And as I rounded that corner, they all came at me in a wave of shared experience… And even though it felt warm and safe, I knew it had to end. It’s never good to live in the past too long.

As for the future, thanks to Dan, it didn’t seem so scary anymore. It could be whatever I wanted it to be…

And who’s to say this isn’t what happens? Who can tell me that my fantasies won’t come true… just this once?"

Godspeed, friends.
