They're harder to kill then normal Reichswehr soldiers is what I'm getting to, Meaning it's going to take more effort on fighting 3rd I.G. Shocktruppen, there is a trade off, while they're harder to fight and kill they're a much smaller unit then an ordinary Reichswehr Infantry unit.

French Albania

That's the strategy French Albania. I shall attack when the city is still full of people. Then they cannot use airstrikes in fear of hitting civilians.

Wintrean milk grapes and tomatos

Hello and welcome to Wintreath North dakota1RuslavaDinolands.

There is a lot more to do on the forums than on this message board. Joining the forums and applying for citizenship is worth the time it takes if you want to try doing things in the regional government. These dispatches also give a good explanation of what can be done here in Wintreath.
I'm here, what now? (Or I've been here and want to try new things)

Welcome to Wintreath!
A crossroads of fun and opportunity...

Greetings, and welcome to Wintreath! Thanks for choosing our region as your home in NationStates. I hope you will dive into everything the region has to offer and that you will become part of the community, because the people in the region are the real stars of the community. This guide is meant to help get you started and point you in the direction you want to go in! This will be a long guide, but it goes into sections. If you're not interested in a section, just skip it.

Before I begin, I want to take a moment to encourage you to register on Linkour off-site forums and apply for Citizenship. Citizenship gives you the full rights granted by our regional Constitution, including the right to become a part of government and to vote in elections, as well as gives you full access to our region, including the government areas of our forum. Once you register on our forums, you can apply for Citizenship by Linkfilling out this form and Linkposting it in this forum.

Now, I ask. What do you want to do in the region?

I just want to explore around...

Nothing wrong with getting to know the lay of the land first. As an explorer, I would recommend viewing our region page completely, checking out our Linkregional forums, and reading our Linkour government guide so you get a basic feel of how our region works and interacts with each other. On both the region page and our forum (if you make an account), you can post and ask questions if you need help settling in the region or choosing a direction you want pursue. Sometimes interacting with your region-mates can clear some of the confusion behind the game!

I want to be part of the regional community!

Wonderful! Our friendly and open community is what the region is best known for! We may be very open, but you can be as open or as casual in the community as you would like. We're always happy to get to know new faces in our region. The best area to get involved in the community is on our Linkregional forums, as that is where the community is hosted. Of particular interest should be the community forums that are part of the Frozen Village of Fourneshore. Here you can tell us more about yourself, discuss both casual and serious topics, be part of contests and events, spam the forum, and just have fun without getting buried in the heavier parts of the region and game.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous you may also want to visit Linkour chatroom, where you can talk with others in real-time. The chat may be more or less active depending on the time of day, but this is where many fun chats are had, and anyone that is on will be more than happy to welcome you in.

I want to participate in government!

An excellent choice! We're always looking for talented people willing to dedicate some time and effort into improving the region through government work, whether it happens to be someone working in our Civil Service, serving in a Ministry, or being elected to the regional legislature and focusing on law. There are many appointed and elected positions that may potentially have your name on them.

To start, you must apply for Citizenship, as only Citizens have the right to join in the political process. Once you have joined, an excellent place to start is to read Linkour government guide so you know how the government is ran and you have some idea of where you'd like to be involved. Then you can browse Linkour laws to get an idea of how the law works in the region.

If you are a new member, I would recommend serving in the Civil Service and/or running for election to the Underhusen, the lower chamber of our legislature. Both have a fine tradition of new Citizens proving themselves in these areas, and I have personally always been a fan of new Citizens bringing fresh blood and ideas to the legislature. It's the platform I ran on when I was running for a legislature as a new player!

I want to join or create a roleplay!

Awesome! We have several varieties of roleplay and lore areas on our forums, and I hope we will have something you'll be interested in.

Most recently we launched LinkThe Wonderful World of Wintreath, a light in-character roleplay revolving around the entire region! Visit the local tavern, the royal castle, a resort, or make your own location...then, just have fun and hang out with the other characters of our region. It's a great way to get into the community in a casual manner, too.

Somewhat related is LinkThe Wintreath Chronicles, our database of lore, characters, and locations in the region that's open to use in any roleplay taking place in the region. All Citizens are free to contribute to the Chronicles if they so wish.

If you want something a little more heavy, check out our Linkroleplay forums, which list all roleplays that have ever been created by members of our community. And if none of those suit your fancy, why not create your own? We have a dedicated Linkforum for proposals so that roleplay creators can find people that may be interested in joining in. If there is interest, we will help you with the technical aspects of securing a forum area for your roleplay, so all you have to focus on is the fun stuff.

I want to join the regional military and be a soldier!

That's great to hear! Our military, the Hvitt Riddaral, defends against invasions in other regions, liberates regions that have already been invaded, and upholds the honour and sovereignty of our region. To get started, you must be a Citizen, so if you haven't already, follow the directions above and apply for Citizenship! Then check out our Linkguide on military gameplay. It may be a little dry and academic, but it will inform you about the factions that partake in military gameplay, the types of military ops that occur, and the mechanics behind why ops work the way they do.

If it sounds like something you'd like to be part of, your next step is to apply for either the LinkHvitt Riddarl or the LinkSkydande Vakt depending on your availability. I want to stress that even if you are available once a day for a few minutes that is still enough time to be part of the military in some fashion, so don't let lack of time and the confusing mechanics of the military deter you. You'll realize it's simpler to do the ops than to read about them, I promise.

This information should help you get started in Wintreath somewhere that you would enjoy, but if you still have questions or need help settling in the region, feel free to post on our region page or send a telegram to myself (Wintermoot) or our Jarl of Integration (Point breeze). We'll be happy to answer any questions and get you on your way.

Best of luck! I look forward to knowing you as a part of our region!

Most sincerely yours,

Inric Nordrim Kestar (Wintermoot I of Wintreath)

New Player FAQ

New Player FAQ
Last Updated 23 July 2019

Welcome to NationStates! In the course of recruiting people who are new to the game in our region, we get a lot of questions back from them about NationStates, regions, and just how to get started and what to do. In the hopes of helping other players that are new to the game, we've comprised this list of frequently asked questions along with their answers. We hope that this helps you understand some of the basic aspects of the game so you can get a better start!

If you have a NationStates question that is not answered here, feel free to send me a telegram and I'll be happy to help you out individually as well.

What do I do in NationStates?
NationStates itself is a very simple game. You answer issues which change your nation's stats, and you can participate in the World Assembly, whose passed proposals also change your nation's stats if you are a World Assembly member. For many, this may be satisfactory, but for those that would like to do more or to interact with players, check out the "What are regions?" question below.
How do I change my stats (economy, civil rights, rankings, etc)?
Your nation's stats change based on the way that you answer issues, and to a lessor extent on passed World Assembly proposals if you are a member of that body. If you want to change your stats in a particular way, answer issues in a way that will benefit it...for example, choosing a pro-business option if offered will usually raise your economy.
What about my population?
Unlike other stats, your population will grow at a fixed rate over time, at a rate of about a billion every six months. There's nothing you can do to change this rate, you just have to keep playing and have patience!
I answered an issue wrong! Can I go back and change my answer?
Not immediately, but eventually you'll get the same issue again. Just answer it a different way when you do.
What are regions? Why should I join one?
Regions are portions of the NationStates community that have their own unique people, culture, government, activities, and allegiances, much like guilds or clans do in any other game. No two regions are alike, and one will potentially offer a vastly different experience from another, so selecting a region is probably one of the most important decisions that you can make, especially if you want to socialize with region-mates or participate in group activities.

As an example of what a region can offer its members, check out Wintreath's region guide here!

WHY AM I BEING BOMBARDED WITH MESSAGES ABOUT JOINING REGIONS OMG STAHP?!???
Regions recruit to new and returning nations because that's the best way of bringing in new people, which they need to do in order to maintain their communities and grow. If you do not want to receive recruitment telegrams, you can block them by going to your telegram preferences, selecting block all beside the Recruitment telegram type, and hitting the Update Filter button.
What is the World Assembly?
The World Assembly is the in-game equivalent to the United Nations, and it's page can be found here. From there you can join the World Assembly and view any proposals that are up for a vote. Once you are a member, you can vote on proposals and endorse other nations. Nations need two endorsements in order to submit proposals to the World Assembly, and the nation with the most endorsements in each region becomes its delegate.

Please be aware that while you can have multiple nations in the game, according to game rules you may only have ONE nation in the World Assembly at any one time. It's recommended that you use the same email when creating all of your nations, so that you will receive a warning if you attempt to join the World Assembly on one nation while you are already in it on another.

Delegate? What's a Delegate?
The Delegate of a region is the nation with the most endorsements in that region. While most nations get one vote when voting for a resolution, the delegate gets a vote for every nation that has endorsed them. The delegate of a region may also have access to the regions controls, which allows them to update the region page, send telegrams to every nation in the region, eject nations from the region, and more.

Because the delegate of a region may have such powers over them, many regions have controls in place to ensure that the delegate selected by their own customs remains the delegate. Please be sure to read any rules or laws on endorsing other nations in your region (these can usually be found in the World Factbook Entry at the top of its region page).

There's no way you can be this entrenched all over the city on a matter of what? Two day's notice? And can you even entrench in concrete??

Entrenched in the sides you would be attacking from, Cote azure's own troops would be surrounding the city, And my troops are at the city limits not inside it it's self. You seriously didn't think you can waltz your troops down the street without meeting resistance outside the city it's self did you? I mean it would be painfully obvious that a force of 250,000 troops are approaching so naturally Battlegroup A would be positioned to meet them some distance before they're actually in the city.

and since French Albania is being brought in here

War Crimes, French Albania I expect to have his balls busted over this because I know for a fact if my own military attacked civilians my balls would be 6 feet under.

Yes but YOU also killed civilians when you decided to launch cruise missiles INTO the city where my troops are. We are literally walking by/killing civilians, so they would be in the vicinity of the blast from cruise missiles.

Not to mention, there are probably hundreds of skyscrapers in that city of 15 million, do you think your cruise missiles doged all those on its way to their targets? Or hit those skyscrapers whcih are full of civilians?

Ganticallio

And it wouldn't be hard for my army to overwhelm yours Allouxia.

And don't tell me your entrenched around the ENTIRE city. That would take weeks.

Not against the rules to attack civilians either

You're not in the city, cruise missles were launched at your approaching troops. You're implying that your troops just walked in without being noticed. You mean to tell me 250,000 just walked in? Civilians would have been moved as far away from the front lines as humanely possible.

I'm entrenched at the side you're attacking from, and while yes your troops outnumber mine you would have suffered horrific amounts of casualties.
