To be honest, Loben does have views I don't care for either.

Note: I'm not saying the ban was justified.

When I first started my career, I interned at one of the big banks (think JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America). That was incredibly common. Every time I went to the bathroom I'd hear the suction noise from a juul and then see a puff of smoke above the bathroom stall. This was right when juuls first came out, so everyone was doing it.

Despite widespread cases and being one of the hardest hit countries, a new study indicates that the vast majority of the population in Spain does not have the antibodies for COVID-19 and so herd immunity is not a realistic stance to take. It would only be, according to the researchers, possible if "This cannot be achieved without accepting the collateral damage of many deaths in the susceptible population and overburdening of health systems."

It's going to be a long year as we wait for that vaccine.

This pandemic has also started to see me shift some of my interests when I eventually can get into medical school. Before I wanted to focus on medical genetics, but now I'm thinking of doing something that would combine medical genetics and infectious diseases.

i saw a video of Spanish police beating up a guy on the metro for not wearing a mask

Drexel burnham lambert

one thing the news isn't really talking about is just how royally screwed Latin America is when they get hit with covid. Brazil is already bad, but the disease is starting to make significant inroads in Mexico too. Nobody wears a mask or to be honest really even cares.

we aren't going to beat this with a vaccine. best hope we have is that is that it mutates into something less lethal and then we just live with it

Unsurprising. Spain was hit hard. Everyone should wear some sort of face covering at the least.

Ecuador is really bad I believe. Venezuela...I don't even want to think how bad it will be in Venezuela once/if it reaches there.

There are already three vaccine candidates ready to enter into Phase 3 trials during the summer. If it's at least 50% effective, it can be used. Further, just today Regeneron announced they were taking their new drug against it into Phase 3 trials and expect some preliminary results by the end of summer/beginning of spring.
