the g*rmans bombed my grandmothers city daily in one of the most intense strategic bombings of the blitz, while all her male siblings and husband were deployed in the armed services across the whole world. there was rationing, blackouts, people were given gas masks, and the country was prepared generally for foreign invasion.

if she was alive what would i say to her, oh thats right, guess we is in a war together now haha just like the old days, when in reality covid means im just being paid by the government to sit at home and jerk off and play video games. fking pisses me off

It's long been customary to employ war as an analogy for rhetorical purposes. Oddly enough, I think that particular flourish was favored by Mussolini of all people. We've had our war on poverty, our war on drugs, our war on crime, and our war on terror in the States.
