Hey I can properly write my currency abbreviations now! Finally, Ollars and Ents can have representation.

Further education can help you reach places you might want to get to but other than that, it's not for everyone. If I had my time again, I'd either be a gardener or a cabinet maker, I think.

I do in fact plan to further my education for my career. I'm going into training to earn a degree in Gunsmithing, and I hope that I can one day expand into machining and tooling in general.

Well, gunsmithing will certainly keep you busy, especially if you focus on the restoration side of things. Sounds a fascinating choice.

I'm not a warmongering, second amendment, stick to your guns type of person. I'm just absolutely amazed by the science and history of firearms. True, the power they wield is part of the attraction; one pull of a trigger can end a person's life so effortlessly. That kind of awesomr might is something to be feared and respected. But I find guns to be such amazing works of science and engineering, the fact that someone figured out that two springs and a lever can do what it does is truly awe inspiring; at least to me.

I don't like guns because they have only one purpose and I think enough killing goes on in this world without them. Science and engineering, however, is endlessly fascinating especially the design side of things. There's a fascinating series of vids on YT about primitive technology. I found them all quite mesmerising. Here's one of them:

The driest winter so far in Victoria in living history. I hate to think what the summer's going to be like.

Post self-deleted by Aplan.

Footscray's an up-and-coming place. Lots of new buildings going up there, lots of development. Melbourne is growing so fast, house prices are going through the roof. Not so good news for 1st time buyers. My problem is the other way around - I'm looking to downsize, but there's no 2-bed houses on the market anywhere. Looks like I'm going to have to build my own when it comes time to retire. #First world problems.

God. We're at the end of August and I'm still trying to catch up with March. It'll be December before I've even got to June. There's something maddeningly wrong with this.

Greetings Keripa! Welcome to the UoGP. What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Well boy howdy, we got a new friend. It's been far too long since someone stopped by. Welcome!

Great. Spring arrives, and with it, the flu season. I am sequestered in my own house until the middle of next week when I am supposedly no longer infectious. Assuming I live that long, which I doubt. I haven't felt this crapulous in years.

Aw come on now, you've been living in Australia your whole life. You're not gonna let something as weak as the flu kick your butt now, are you?

Ah, and there you are wrong, my young friend. I didn't arrive in Oz until 1988, prior to which time I lived in the UK. Originally, I am from Wales, though I have lived and worked in a good many places, including at UCRiverside.

This bug is taking its own sweet time to shift but at least it's enabled me to catch up on my reading list.

Whoo, man. This is not a good year.
If you remember I told you of a family member that passed away earlier this year, well his brother just died at the end of last month. And now my brother is going through divorce proceedings for the first time.
The era of civil strife is here, and here to stay it seems.

I hear you. Just when you think things cannot possibly get any worse, along comes another dollop of s**t to enrich your life. It seems to be the way of things. The usual triad is a financial problem, followed by an emotional issue, topped off by a physical illness. Such joy.

The only way through it is one day at a time. Best of luck to you.

And now I have to go for a shoulder reconstruction ... This has been a hellish year for health issues. Roll on 2018.

I recently found out I have a cataract in my left eye and I require lasik surgery to correct it :/
Frankly, the thought of having my eye peeled open and lasered while I'm awake... Idk doesn't sound pleasant
