It is too late now.

Any final words?

The internationalists and the islamic socialists are directly rivaled, but are part of the "vanguard" coalition. The conservatives rival both and lead the opposition. However, the islamic socialists and conservatives work against the internationalists because they are responsible for practically every pariah state kind of thing we've ever done and held power from 56-94 and again 2015 to now.

Nothing on the scale of apartheid South Africa or anything like that. Was more along the lines of a more easy-going Rhodesia until the 1970s. It was more ... subtle.

Let's start praising Lord Alteran republics for the wonderful greyscale map that made this possible.

... and before anyone else says anything - I know it's heavily pixelated. I only had the coloured map to go on at the time. Going to see if I can clean it up a bit with some tools I have (somewhere). Failing that, I'll start hand-drawing it on the 4096 x 2000 scale. :P

Now this map is that of a "temperate TWI". Which means, everything is forested (and in general has similar climate). I think it would be better for TWI to have "Northern Hemisphere" setting. With that setting, we would have southern TWI nations having more "arid", "desert-like" or "hot" climate in general. Now the thing is, some of you guys in south have either "tropical hot" climate or basically what temperate like everyone else. So, it's up to you fine ladies and gentlemen to decide what you want:

Either a TWI map that is entirely forests or a TWI map that is "arid and desert-like" in south.

Edit: This is about CK2 TWI mod. And please remove tags when quoting.

Temperate works for me.

The Islamic party wants to make themselves feel secure by buffing up the military to defend thuzbekistan and be taken seriously by ostehaar and others while seeking to stabilize the relationships and try and make fair trade deals. Domestically, they focus on slowly decentralizing the economy, but still very socialist.Trying to establish a beneficial status quo is needed to stabilize the issues at home.

The conservatives want much the same, but instead of just establishing a beneficial situation, they want to denounce the previous government and embrace the international community with a "fresh start" mindset. They would rapidly decentralize and begin massive social reforms while trying to normalize both the image of their nation and the relationship with actors across the region.

The internationalists have a much narrower view. While they have done a lot to stabilize the economy and relations with nations like noronica, they still think they need to expand their influence and power by conflicts like orsandia and supporting communists groups and parties across the region and blame the current conditions on their enemies in Gael and at home. They're essentially the status quo- always forcing themselves into power and conveniently finding enemies when things get rough.

Shoulda slept longer haha.

Doesn't mean that another country couldn't have a metal band.

Yes. More importantly I question the ability of members to claim large swaths of classical music as their own country's compositions.

Its done with military equipment all the time, I don't see a problem with it. Sadly I don't have the experience or orchestra to create these pieces, so I'm sure that claiming I think 6 pieces, most of which aren't even that well known, is not some massive problem.

Hi. I've got to apologise for my lack of visible activity again although I do atleast have the excuse that i'm currently in the RL Western Isles (AKA the Scottish Outer Hebrides) where the wifi's a bit crap. I have however been working on a new NPC for the Oasis territory, which would act as a centre for shady deals and organised crime and definitely isn't ripping off Fallout New Vegas at all.

São Katrina, more commonly known as the Oasis, is an island in the Mesder Sea, partially recognised by some states as a Protected Indigenous Territory and partially recognised as a rogue state by others. The island’s closest neighbours include Paratan, Brulafi and Keomora. The island has a population of around 60,000, with 40% of the population living in the de facto capital, Porto da Prisão. The Oasis is considered to be a centre of transnational crime, with almost the entire island being the dependent on criminal activity. The Oasis’s non-existent laws on gambling, prostitution and narcotics attract hundreds of thousands of tourists each year. The island’s main exports include illegally extracted sulphur and narcotics.

Officially, São Katrina is governed by the ‘Conselho Legislativo da Ilha’ a unicameral legislature of nine directly elected representatives which elects a Governor each year. However, the Oasis is actually be ruled by Senhor Kassa, a mysterious figure who has never been photographed and is rarely seen in public, with the aid of his mercenary organisation Blackriver International. Kassa and Blackriver’s power derives from their ability to control and keep the peace the other major factions of the Oasis: the indigenous Chael tribes, the Númeries (the descendants of convicts transported to the penal colony on the island) and the LinkSindicato Aristocrático.
The island is dominated by Mount St Katrina, a dormant volcano which is thought to have last erupted around eleven hundred years ago. The rest of the island is covered in dense rainforest and the lesser mountains from the Mount St Katrina range. The island’s only city, Porto da Prisão, has a population of 24,000.

History
The island’s earliest settlements date to around 1300 BCE and are thought to be Ipachi in origin. Throughout the bronze age and iron age the Oasis played an important role as a trading post with the Mesder Sea trading system. The eruption of Mount St Katrina in c.920 AD wiped the island’s previous inhabitants and the Oasis remained uninhabited until the 13th Century AD when a Khas-Kirat community established a presence on the Island. Over time they evolved into the many tribes which make the island’s ‘indigenous peoples’, the most dominant being the Chael Krackan and Chael Dogan tribes.

In 1601 the Portuguese Empire establish Porto da Prisão as a penal colony transporting both male and female convicts, many of whom were debtors, from Europe and the colonies of Rio De Ouro and Aldeota (Dragao do mar) to the island. The prisoners were charged for room and board and were expected to pay off their debts by farming cash crops like tobacco and opium. Few ever left the island and many started families, interbreeding with the indigenous peoples of the island. A system of inherited debt saw the descendants of the original prisoners remained trapped in the Oasis, ensuring a replenishing supply of labour. Armed conflicts between the tribes and the residents of Porto da Prisão were relatively common.

Within the prison system several gangs would form for mutual protection. These gangs would usually centre around a prominent prisoner who was feared enough to provide protection with the gangs after taking on convicts Prison number. Today the descendants of the Oasis’s prison population as still referred to locally as the Númeries or ‘the Numbers’.

The independence of Aldeota from Portugal in 1634 and the annexation of Rio De Ouro by the Sinjali hangate (Athara magarat) in the 19th century did not stop the flow of convicts from the former colonies to the island. During this period the governors of Porto da Prisão ruled with minimal oversight from Lisbon, effectively allowing them to turn the island into their personal kingdoms. During the 18th century prison labour began to be used to extract sulphur from Mount St Katrina.

In 1922 the failing First Portuguese Republic sold the island to the Second Viceroyalty of Rio De Ouro. Porto da Prisão’s governor, Marcelinho Vilar, protested the decision and actually tried to declare independence from the Viceroyalty which was forced to send the Ouronan navy to subdue the island. During the Imperial War, the Neo-Imperialists used the Oasis as a naval base but after significant defeats saw the island ‘abandoned’ in 1946. This included the withdrawal of all former prison guards leading to the ‘Revolt of 46’ in which the prisoners took control of Porto da Prisão. Led by the charismatic leader, Nicodemo Matos, the former penal colony provided safe habour to ships from Free Power nations for the remainder of the war, earning the gratitude of the leaders of the Free Powers.

The division of the Rio De Ouro in aftermath of the war failed to include São Katrina and thus the island effectively entered a state of limbo. Following the assassination of Nicodemo Matos in 1949 Porto da Prisão fell under the control of a series of short-lived authoritarian strongmen, each who sort to use island’s mineral and crop resources to further their own wealth. However, this period was largely dominated by a long-running war between the Porto da Prisão and the indigenous peoples which began after the Chael Krackan and Chael Dogan tribes seized many of the crop fields previously worked by colony’s residents.

In the mid 1970s the Sindicato Aristocrático began using the Oasis as base of operations for its various smuggling and narcotics growing activities. By the late 1980s the Sindicato, controlled by the San Agãta family, were effectively the de facto masters of the island, managing an uneasy peace between the indigenous tribes and the city of Porto da Prisão. When the Totzkan Union formed in 1979 it claimed the Oasis as part of its territory but due to the young federation’s internal instability and an ongoing war with Soutara of the Wake Islands it was unable to enforce its claim.

Following the 1999 Caso de Corporação-Sindicato scandal (known abroad as the Sindigate scandal), in which the newspaper Voz revealed that key investors in the Totzkan Union’s largest businesses were actually members of the drug-peddling Sindicato Aristocrático, President Desidéria Lorena Sharma called for the use of military action to eliminate the Sindicato Aristocrático. Part of this strategy included sending a division of Marines to the Oasis to eliminate the Sindicato’s operations there. The Totzkan Military achieved full control of the island within eleven hours and set about destroying the Sindicato’s poppy fields and drug labs. During the operation Totzkan soldiers indiscriminately killed anyone suspected of aiding the Sindicato and burned down their property in their efforts to remove the Sindicato from the island. In particular indigenous peoples, who played a key role in the cartel’s opium production, were targeted. This led to a huge media backlash against Totzka and international pressure, led by lobbyists for indigenous rights groups, forced the Totzkan Union to withdraw from the Oasis after just twelve days.

Following the withdrawal, the Oasis was officially recognised in by League of the Western Isles as a Protected Indigenous Territory, although the Totzkan Union officially disputes this definition and continues to claim the Oasis as its sovereign territory. Through Resolution 297, the Conselho Legislativo da Ilha was created as the governing body of the Oasis, although over the coming years it would prove ineffective at maintaining law and order on the island.

Despite the brief nature of the operation the Totzkan military were largely successful in their efforts to reduce the Sindicato’s influence over the Oasis. Unfortunately, this led to a power vacuum between the city of Porto da Prisão, the Chael Dogan tribe, the Chael Krackan tribe and a weakened Sindicato Aristocrático which exploded into violence in 2002. The conflict on the island only worsened when the Sindicato fell into an internal feud known as the Great Aristocrático War.

The violence ended in 2008 due to a sudden arrival of the private military company Blackriver International. Blackriver, led by the mysterious Senhor Kassa, subdued the various factions of the Oasis, turned the island into their private fiefdom and have controlled the Oasis ever since, rebuilding the island’s shadow economy.

To keep the peace in the Oasis Kassa ensured that the once warring factions would each control a different sector of the island’s criminal empire. Under Senhor Kassa’s new order the Sindicato Aristocrático would handle the smuggling and trafficking that sustains the island, although they would no longer control the island as they did previously. Within the city of Porto da Prisão, the Númeries control much of Oasis’ ‘tourist’ attractions including the city’s gambling dens and sex industry. The indigenous people’s meanwhile are responsible for both the extraction of sulphur, which was explicitly banned under League Resolution 297 due to its damage to the island’s natural environment, and the production of the island’s narcotics.
