i have a desire to work on religion, geography, and foreign policy. I really don't know which i should work on first considering i haven't made much in the last 2 months and have been distracted by other writing projects

Gonna start writing a factbook on foreign policy & relations soon. TG me if you want any special agreements etc.

Go for geo. Religion will take you down a rabbit hole and foreign policy is a decently big undertaking to come back with...

Sorry I’ve been inactive, in a rush trying to get utilities, housing finished before I move in.

If this is the time to explain our priorities- I’m starting a unified factbook, finally, that will combine all my current factbooks. I feel like Almorea has been rather disjointed.

I did it, I built an empire with a massive, manageable f*ck off fleet, I even purged some primitive xenos.

Happy to say that the OP for the TWI cricket World Cup is up

Submitted. What is the 'XI' thing mentioned in the OP though?

Nhoor wrote:Submitted. What is the 'XI' thing mentioned in the OP though?

It’s just a cricket touring team convention thing, so when Australia play the first class (regional teams) in England as they are at the moment, the touring party is known as Australia A or Australia XI. So you’d just put Nhoor XI, Nhoor national men’s cricket team

If you don’t mind, I’d just like to mention that in cricket, if you intend your squad list to read batsmen at the top, all rounders in the middle, bowlers at the bottom as most player lists in cricket do, the captain would normally but not always be a batsman so at the top, but that’s not a problem. However if in your list bowlers are at the bottom, then I’d suggest moving the wicket keeper tag to one of the batsmen, as the wicket keeper can’t bowl otherwise someone else would have to keep wicket

Frankly I just made a list of names and gave the captain's and wicket keeper's titles to the names I liked most ^^
This is just to have Nhoor's participation going; I will look into details later.

Second story may turn into something big
Gonna get my state-distributed paper to report on the comments made by Athara Magarat.
(Oh also AM buddy, the monarchy in Austrovik operates more like Japan's or the UK's monarchs: being mainly ceremonial)

Yay I got some barebones info into a factbook! If anyone wants to offer any critique thus far:

It is bordered by only one nation, Menna Shuli to the north, while Scantarbia lies west-southwest across the Lotus Sea from Martenyika. DESCRIPTION OF YOUR NATION’S ROLE IN THE WORLD

Etymology

DESCRIBE ORIGIN OF NATION NAME

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Martenyika is as a "Martenyikan."

History

In early times, the land which became known as Martenyika was split between various tribes and other realms. Typically those in the central and western parts of the region grew to be the strongest, as they had access to riverine trade systems and fertile land. By the 15th century, Martenyikan history becomes dominated by the central-western turmoil between empires and cities like Kessa, Ambojary, and Hena.

From 1405-1411, then 1413-1425, the Great River Wars erupted primarily between Ambojary in the northwest, and Kessa. They fought for control over and access to the various riverine routes, and the lake in the northwest. Ambojary was defeated, and fully subjugated to the Great Kessiri Empire in 1426, as was Hena.

Despite its success, resentment grew in the conquered territories, and came to a head in 1477 when Ambojary rebelled. It secured independence three years later, and in 1482 Hena also conspired with Ambojary to secure its independence. Despite initial successes by the Kessa counterattack, the Kessiri Empire was defeated in 1483.

In a twist of fate, Kessa itself was subjugated by a 1484 treaty at the end of the conflict. Yet it rebelled in turn come 1509. Hosts of men overthrew the occupational government in Kessa, then rallied support to strike back at its enemies. After several years Kessa regained its lost territories and declared the Second Kessiri Empire in 1513.

By the mid 1500s, a period of economic and cultural booming and then decline, the Second Kessiri Empire decays and breaks apart. It isn’t long before the colonial era begins, with explorers and colonists from Razzgriz arriving in 1566.

I know I still need to establish GDP, and military is in the works. Guess I’ll look at real life comparable nations for guidelines.

I'm curious - you are a republic but you have a king? Surely there must be some in-depth history to that.

What if 'King' is part of his name instead of a title? :)

Whoops, good catch! I was debating between the two but couldn’t decide, so I moved onto some of the other aspects. He shall now be President!

Lol, no it was more a mistake on my part, although that would get interesting during introductions. “Welcome King Maxime Zubele, President of Martenyika.” *everybody like “I thought they said King...”*

When i first joined, my King was elected. So, it isn't that out of the question to have a King be President :P

The Polish-Lithuanian kings used to be elected so there is a precedent. And the former king of Bulgaria Simeon served as prime minister of his country a couple of years ago.

Well, did my part. Ye all join the merry cricket tournament!

6/10; don't expect much. At least a lot better than the (ICly overrated) Magarati football team whose highest scorer was a left-back.

Meanwhile, our elections were the reasons why disgruntled groups started so many new hangates.

We now have over 50 of them in the Isles. 18 in AM, 16 in Kyrazakhstan, 3 or 4 in San Montagna and so on.
