Not to any extensive degree. Remember how eco-focused the Menna are; anything that would significantly damage or destroy the ecosystem is generally avoided, with certain very specific exceptions in certain places.

Nice. And Welcome

Probably should've done the same about myself...well I guess I'll just say, I am a fairly serious nation when it comes to WA stuff but with a dark sense of humour.

Mmm. I like a good economic crisis causing widespread pain, suffering, instability, destruction, depression, sadness, and ruin. Count me in :D

Coincidentally, I just finished up a semester where two of my units were studying the Global Financial Crisis in detail, particularly the decades leading up to the GFC, and the main stages of the GFC itself. Let me know if you think this would be useful. I'll post on the thread with my thoughts soon.

Raelosia was a thalassocratic civilisation, originating from First Wave settlers, that existed across the northern coast of Raedlon and throughout the North Mesder Sea from the 15th century BCE to the 2nd century BCE. The civilisation was composed of multiple politically independent city-states such as Cas Vilsti, Cas Ókhar, Cas Pāla and Cas Ālda. Uniting these various states was their shared belief in the Aasharé religion and the complex trading network that existed between each city.

Map of the more prominent Raelosi cities

The Raelosi were among the greatest traders of their time and owed much of their prosperity to trade, primarily exporting tin, copper and bronze and then later precious metals such as gold and silver. By the 5th century BCE the Raelosi became pioneers in production of Vodka, generally using rye grain, which became another key export of the civilisation, with the drink often being traded for the beverages of the warmer nations to the south. Raelosi trading ships travelled as far as the Roendavarian city states in the Eterna sea and Raelosi trading posts were built all along the coasts of Argus and Gael.

Politically, the dependence on trade meant that each city was controlled by a mercantile oligarchy of merchant-lords, referred to by later historians as the Merchants–Potentate. While some cities, like Cas Kivō were monarchs and others, like Cas Vilsti, had elected consuls in reality the governance of the cities were handled by their wealthiest citizens.

Religion was a highly important aspect of the civilisation and played a large role in the daily life of the Raelosi. The Raelosi were worshippers of the Aasharé faith, a nontheistic religion which emphasised an individual’s ability to control their own fate. The Aasharé believed in the Aash, a divine energy of which all things, tangible or otherwise, were composed of. Individuals could supposedly gain control of the Aash by exercising the five precepts (physical strength , charisma/ leadership, wisdom, compassion and Lanceré, with can be translated to either ‘principled opposition’ or ‘uniqueness’).

The Raelosi are widely accepted to have originated on the Zazchey Archipelago (specifically in modern day Polar svalbard), with First-Wave Peoples migrating to and settling the Pamilyan Peninsular in the late 3rd millennium BC. Early proto-Raelosi expansion was limited to the peninsular as the lands to the south were already inhabited by the patchwork of tribal nations collectively referred to as the Piroga culture, after their canoe-like graves, who are thought to be of pre-Mihennan origin, having migrated from South Argus a millennium prior. The mountainous geography of the Pamilyan Peninsular helped ensure the rise of isolated, self-governing communities, forming the foundations for later Raelosi cities such Cas Kivō, Cas Āka and Cas Ōte.

Their terrestrial isolation forced the early Raelosi to take to the seas to prosper, developing a North Mesder trading networking that supplied their cities with copper, tin and timber. Shipwrecks discovered in the Yhai-Pamil basin and throughout the North Mesder have also discovered evidence that precious metals, spirits, crops and animals were also highly important to the early Raelosi economy. It is a common belief that the Raelosi were named after “Raelo” a drink, very similar to vodka, which was commonly drank by the Raelosi, although there is little evidence supporting this theory.

From 1500 BCE onwards, the Raelosi sea cities began to develop outposts in the Zazchey Archipelago, Nhoor and Yhaiva in pursuit of metal ores. Due to limited records historians are unsure as to what the relationship between colony and coloniser was exactly but its speculated that a culture of self-dependence and benign neglect would develop between the Pamilyan Penisular and its various dominions. Several outposts would grow and become major states with the cities of Cas Pāla in Nhoor, Cas Ālda in the Zazchey Archipelago and Cas Vilsti in Yhaiva becoming major players in Raelosi politics. Additionally, the city of Cas Ohkār was established on the south coast of the Yhai-Pamil Basin to exert control over the Rio de Ouro Basin, brining the Raelosi into conflict with the Tétzūzka and Itdūzkéts dynasties which controlled much of Southern Totzka.

I'm trying to build these guys up to be the Phoenicians/ Ancient Greeks of TWI. If anyone has any bronze age/iron age societies they can interact with, let me known. I'm quite liking the idea of a conflict with Ipachi settlers.

So I'm setting up some mind maps for my recent history (i.e: 20th century onwards) and I'm actually planning for Austrovik-Germania to be a communist state which operates under the ideals of Proletarianism from around 1950 till probably the mid-70s. However, to do this, I need someone who would be willing to invade the previous militarist government in AG during the 40s. This government would be a lot like Japan during WW2: not officially fascist, but highly expansionist for material wealth. Telegram me if interested.

Just finished a dungeon design to throw at my party tomorrow. A TPK is very, very possible. The whole thing is basically the interior of the ruins of a magical deep-space telescope facility and I'm throwing the Hive at the party, which are LITERALLY just an expy of the xenomorphs from Alien. Basic idea is that a rogue mage is hiding out at the top of a huge inselberg called Observatory Hill, the interior of which is an ancient Remellian (read as: Magocratic Portal Romans) Dark Tapestry observation base. The Dark Tapestry is "the darkness between the stars where inhabitants of the Material Plane believe true madness lies". The whole place is a pitch black warren of ancient, forgotten magitek with a space theme, and the mage himself has unleashed the hive from a portal to the Dark Tapestry, mutating himself into a half-Hive creature himself in the process. The biggest threat, though, is a Colour Out of Space which can accidentally be unleashed by playing with the old observation devices. It's been trapped in the screens used when the portals the Remellians used as telescopes collapsed, and could very well wreck the whole party.

If you join the Neo-Imperial Powers during the Imperial War you may very well get yourself invaded by Miklania in exactly that timeframe.

Hey everyone! I am so excited to be a part of this world.

How did you hear about The Western Isles?

I was once a part of this region a long, long, long time ago. I would certainly love to come back now that I have a dedicated presence on the site and have honed in my skills as an RP'er. Moreover, I really want to be part of a community that values Roleplay. I was scrolling through new regions to go to, and I wondered what it would be like if I came to the TWI again! So here I am!.

What's some information about yourself (hobbies, interests, country, etc.)?

I am a lover all things Asian history! I am a person of Indian origin, and I am deeply interested in Lingayatism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other facets of Indian culture and history. I am deeply interested in legislature (I know, strange), and absolutely love world cultures. I am language dork and I currently have proficiency, albeit, limited in a around 6 languages. I love studying the language and how it evolves - those deeply interest me.

What kind of nation are you trying to make?

I am trying to make a nation that is a deep reflection of my deepest thoughts and wishes. I want to make a country that represents many of the opinions that I share, while making a new history for it. I want to make a nation whose history is intertwined with that of real examples - but distinct enough to be its own. I am, alltogether, excited for an oppotunity to forge my own nation out of the dust.

First time seeing someone interested in Lingayatism.

Welcome to TWI, by the way.

Forgive us but we still tend to get suspicious. There was this South Indian girl Tanjore who would create new nations then disappear and then do that again.
