The FM8 Super Banshee is a twin-engine carrier-capable multirole fighter aircraft variant based on the MRF-4 Banshee. The twin seat Super Banshee is larger and more advanced than its earlier counterpart which it quickly replaced. The Super Banshee has an internal 20 mm M61 rotary cannon and can carry air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons. Additional fuel can be carried in up to five external fuel tanks and the aircraft can be configured as an airborne tanker by adding an external air refueling system.

Designed and produced by Sedolv Mikla, the Super Banshee first flew in 1998. Full-rate production began in August 2002. The Super Banshee entered service with the Svalbardian Airforce and the Svalbardian Navy in 2002, replacing the MRF-4 Banshee, which was retired in 2005; the Super Banshee serves alongside the MRF-2 Valkyrie.
