You need to complete an application on our regional forums by filling a form and signing an oath, which is all explained in the new player guide I pointed out in the post above and in the forum links it contains.

Giovanniland wrote:That is not in any way helpful to new players.

I beg to differ.
I was inquiring as to what role/activity that they may have been interested in, wherein I would have posted a suitable link ...

As support for this is the response post given.

There's an easier and more helpful way to do that, since our New Player Guide conveys all information needed for new nations in a single place and gives a lot of choices for them.

As indicated by the population and subsequent posts by the nation, they are not exactly new, just 'new' to our region, thus would likely be looking for a specific activity/role as per their interest.

The guide does contain content about how to get involved in the region - the earlier introduction to NationStates can be ignored if a player is only new to the region and not to the game.

From your allies in Equilism. There's sort of an early Thank You Thursday message inside.

Equilism Update: Summer 2021
The Collapse of Equilism

"A Walk In The Park"

"Look at all the turtles on that rock!"

Governor General Westwind pointed to the collection of turtles that completely covered a stone outcrop in the midst of the lake. They were gathered together warming themselves in the bright Spring sunshine. "Nations used to gather in Equilism too, from all over NationStates," he continued sadly as he gazed at the crumbling structures of Ancient Equilism.

"What a time it was!" He smiled. And walked on.

It had once been so busy that everyone was losing sleep. Former Founder Naivetry became well known for falling asleep on her keyboard.

But it's not like that anymore.

The Equilism Town Hall, the same glorious building established for the first Equilism Senate in 2004, that had been home to the Council and the College and every sort of named representative body you might want to contrive. Now it stood empty and crumbling. A reminder of what once was.

The grounds and gardens, while becoming overgrown, are still a beautiful and peaceful place to wander and ponder.

"So many people have come and gone," he mumbled to himself along his walk alone. "Nearly 18 years of coming and going."

He paused for a moment. Slowly turned around to take in the entirety of the place. He deeply inhaled the present moment, and the history of the place. Held it tight as he slowly turned, and then steadily exhaled in finality.

"The past is over."

The Collapse

Once upon a time in 2006, Equilism engaged in what is known as 'The Schism'. Those times became ingrained enough in NS lore to be mentioned in Westwind's Security Council Commendation. But 15 years later, there is no 'Schism' operation in place to restore Equilism to activity from The Collapse.

To summarize the Events of The Collapse:

- October 2020: Mayor, Moderator and Delegate Baron Bones (aka tarricoe) Ceased to Exist, leaving Equilism with no elected officials. Nor did anyone wish to stand for election when given the opportunity. Isaris became Delegate by default.

- November 2020: Westwind was elected by the Town Hall to the Voluntary Official position of Governor General to hold Conservatorship over The Equilism Township Government until such time as the region wishes new elections. Westwind recognizes Isaris as Delegate by Executive Order.

- February 2021: The Equilism Forums experiences a series of database errors. As an inactive forum, no body notices. With the resolution of the issue, the forum was cleaned up and out of date threads archived. Over 1000 inactive accounts were removed.

- April 2021: The Equilism Forums hosting provider transferred our account to a new server. In the processes, they lost our database, and deleted our backups. Older backups exist, however the servers will not accept the upload of a database this large. As a result, the Equilism forums of 2005 - 2021 are closed and offline. Sadly, Co-Founder Chaucerin, who once said that he would be there alongside Westwind when it was 'time to turn out the lights' of the forum was nowhere to be found. Founder Whamabama noticed the loss of the forums some time later.

- June 2021: Equilism's Founder Equility Ceases to Exist. The nation was restored by Co-Founder Westwind three days later.

- June 2021: Equilism Founder Whamabama Ceases to Exist. (Note: Co-Founder Chaucerin has also CTE'd)

In Other News

- Equilism was NationStates Featured region on April 8, 2021. Nations of Equilism enjoyed welcoming the visitors that came to congratulate us, we appreciated them sharing their day with us. Thank you!

- Governor General Westwind announced a policy change for the acceptance of ingame Embassies. Previously, Equilism did not accept ingame Embassies with regions that had not also exchanged offsite forum embassies. With the current inactivity, and the loss of offsite forums, Equilism now accepts ingame Embassies. Both Westwind and Delegate Isaris may accept or reject Embassy requests from regions with no fewer than 15 nations.

- As a result of the change in Embassy policy, Equilism has exchanged Embassies with Christmas, The Great Universe, Lyrali, Grand Peppian Commonwealth, and Jurassic World 2015.

Thank You All!

Regardless of what the present and future may hold for Equilism, I want to take a moment to say Thank You.

Long ago Equilism nicknamed me 'Gramps' in 2004, and Naivetry nicknamed me 'Eldest' in 2005. I'm afraid that in the meantime I haven't gotten any younger. Time keeps flowing like a river, and eventually the face in the mirror doesn't match the face in your mind.

In the Real World I have lived a life of moving from place to place, where connections are brief opportunities and rarely last long. Few things in my life have matched the longevity of my relationship with the NationStates community. In the Real World, many of my lifetime friends and family members have passed away. And so all the more do I appreciate the warm relationships that have crossed my path throughout my years in NationStates.

Thank all of you that have taken part in the History of Equilism. From the first Founding by Equility (he mispelled his nation name, then mispelled the region name - but that's what gave it that initial unique quality.) To the early players I first interacted with such as Tomika, Rhovinian, Daradah, Ostendt, Swampland, Tse Moana. To the second generation of Equilism players such as Nooterland, Chaucerin, Notherfork, Moo-cow with Guns, Astarial.

To the succeeding generations. There are too many of you to mention. I'm sorry, I just can't bring myself to list more names. I shouldn't have started. The more I remember and mention, the worse I'll feel about the ones I forget to mention. I'll have to satisfy myself that you all know who you are, from 2004 to 2021.

Thank you.

And to all those players in other fine regions across NationStates, Thank you too, for your interactions with and enrichment of Equilism's experience.

Have yourselves a fantastic Summer!

Sad to hear about Equilism’s forums Westwind, all that history lost. So many well known names associated with the region recently gone as well.

However, good to see Equilism hanging in there. Thank you for the update.

(That’s my Thank You Thursday done. 😀)

Oh thank you

That's a message that oddly fits with our weekly Thank You Thursday theme, despite being your first message here. Funny coincidence?

Anyways, feel free to take a look at our New Player Guide given that you're a new nation :)

TODAY IN THE WEST

Today is Thank You Thursday! During Pride Month, we've all reflected on what this community, this movement, its people and its values mean to us. We've also talked about allyship and more. So to build on those things today, express your gratitude towards someone who has been your ally, who has showed you support, stood with you or helped you in any significant way. It can be anyone from an NS/real-life friend, a family member, a classmate, or someone else!

Looking at Dali's Drag Race, Lady Anastasia has delivered the verdict for the most recent Herstory of Drag challenge, trebuchet-ing two underperforming queens! As the queens wait for the next challenge to be announced, tell us who you're rooting for to win the glam and glory that comes with being NationStates' next Drag Superstar!

I am grateful for the insight and friendship of Dr. Rob and Mr. Joe who showed me care and kindness through one of the most difficult periods in my life.

I am thankful for missus Yy, my best RL ally and friend and for my brother, whom unfailingly is there by my side.
I am thankful for the small things in life.
I am thankful for being able to think outside the box, for being able to discern which priorities are important and which are transitory.

This is 100% correct and in-line with my expectations for integrating new nations both to the game and region.

If you have an issue, bring it up to me directly.

Thank you Cro Magnon, Isaris, and Westwind for your work in Equilism! I enjoyed my time and the knowledge gained working there.

It does matter, since more people endorsing each other means our region gets stronger. So you are encouraged to endorse as many people you can, though being mindful of the endorsement cap of 250 people - you could reach top 1% of endorsements and influence which, among other things, can give you a better card rarity and increase our regional power.
