World Factbook Entry

Founded in 2149, the original Systems Alliance was the supranational political, military, and economic face of Humanity. After the defeat of the Reapers in Battle for Earth (2186), the remnants of the species in the Victory Fleet, as all of their governments lay in shambles, banded together into the Species Alliance.

It is now 2288. Based on Citadel Station orbiting Earth, the Alliance Council is still struggling to achieve a fully united galaxy.

The Species Alliance Regional Message Board

Greetings to the Species alliance we the Kashido race of The Homeland of the Kashido welcome our new diplomatic ties with your region. We look forward to conferring with your nations.

OOC: Ezeni, you might have missed the letter, but we know you visit here sometimes. It appears Calinstel does not have any stories listed at all (while there are many references elsewhere).

(OOC: Sorry Geth, you might be right - there is a lot of spam as a WA delegate.

I've asked around the community about Calinstel and it seems he removed everything on purpose, being rather disillusioned after Andromeda. Can't say I agree (after all, fanfiction is a person's original work that isn't required to depend on or respect the 'official' canon, especially regarding its present 'quality') but I believe we can all sympathise with his plight...

However, one can still read his stories because I have a backup - ( https://bit.ly/2zHGAbH - includes all three 'To Survive' and a short story about Tali's trial ). While it's true they do run at a glacial pace, and the editing is not quite there, and it's of course unfinished (bane of all fanfiction) but I would still place these stories among the better ones about Shepard and Tali, especially because of Calinstel's depiction of quarian society, culture, language and physiology that has influenced many authors. Yes, the bond is an old sci-fi trope, but I think it really fits (and it has implications and is even exploited by the society itself to survive in the grim realities of the Fleet).

P.S. To all our region - I rather miss our discussions (and yes, I'm aware it's me who'd stopped updating in the first place)
P.P.S. Do Geth support the epub format?
)

OOC: I'm.... vaguely impressed the region still exists.

OOC: Thank you for uploading. Do you mind if we share it a bit?

And yes, the Geth would support all software being as open source as possible, as they thrive on collecting and processing information. Another thing is if people would want to live in that kind of a society, but it's rather inevitable we will find out.

By the way, there is now a method of securing a region against raiding while having no password, using roles. All admin privileges should be removed from WA delegate and instead granted to specific nations as roles. That way if raiders try to force their own WA rep, they would have no benefits at all in terms of vandalizing anything.

P.S. Ezeni, we wonder, what had been your plan for the lunar lander scenario to end?

OOC: I believe I've edited the region permissions appropriately, though I wasn't able to re-grant executive privilege to you, Ezeni. Let me know if you want me to revert it

(OOC: Sure, Geth, go ahead. That hosting should remain up indefinitely (until it shuts down, ha-ha).

I've looked for some info on these region roles. It seems this system has its share of disadvantages - while it's true that it completely protects a region even if the hostile people elect someone else as a representative, only the founder can ever have executive rights. And in case they disappear, all controls will go back to current representative. So, in essence, we could remove password protection (you had this in mind, right?), but Benning must not ever disappear :)

P.S. Did you happen to watch that recent horrible space film with Brad Pitt?

To be fair, the result wasn't predetermined and would depend on what everyone said (and voted) on the matter. So, I guess, the next vote needed to be whether the Geth would've been allowed to restore the memorial site.)

OOC: Now we have actually finished the said film and it does indeed remain terrible. It seems they aimed to create the next Space Odyssey, but it falls flat in every aspect. When it doesn't burst from its own pretentiousness one can laugh at the depiction of "hard science" - such as the protagonist traversing planetary rings protected with nothing but a thin sheet of metal (and doing so because he has arbitrarily parked his ship on the wrong side).

P.S. What is everyone's opinion on The Outer Worlds and Disco Elysium? We are looking for a serviceable western RPG (not the Divinity series, we are already aware of it).

OOC: Ezeni, we must thank you for convincing us to check out Disco Elysium. While it's an RPG more in the narrative sense and could indeed be not for everyone, when it sticks, it's such an amazing experience! We all played it through at the onset of the year and it's been so very cathartic (though it's disasters instead of snow where we are). They don't make a lot of games like this. Perhaps, the closest thing was Planescape in some ways.

P.S. Did you see the moment where the protagonist fails to sing karaoke?

(OOC: Glad you liked it because not everyone do. And I thought that if he fails then it's only described, but it's actually played out :) Personally I was also fond of the hero's many interactions with Kim (now that's a real companion), talking to [spoiler] in the reeds, everything about The Pale, the weird world itself, the radio game story, the church events, the music and songs, the witty skill system, Shivers - it's such an atmospheric one, but a pity that it's tied to the physical line.

The good news is that they're making more of it in the same universe, and there's even a book but it hasn't been translated. The bad news is the city appears to be doomed (and the world as well). Hey, that's pretty noir.)
