I loved the idea, it was cool to have battle mechs on the field. But they were just too OP, and they (USSR) had a habit of just brushing off any offensive against them.

I really like the USSR as a friend though, and it's sad to see them go.

Why would he just leave like that

He was a key member of our roleplay

ATTENTION EVERYONE, I HAVE AN IDEA.
This region is dying. We can't run from it any longer. Our core members have been dropping like flies since WW1, and there have been gaps in activity too long for schoolwork to account for. But there is still unfinished business to take care of. Ever since my conquest of Kentucky, my nation has been developing towards a singular goal: Defeating TK. There was always going to be a WW2, it was just a matter of when. However, with the region's recent trajectory, I am beginning to become concerned about whether or not the region will actually survive until I am ready. What I propose is this:
We jump time forward a bit for everyone to finish their final projects. All wars that aren't properly active (looking at you, Xeola, although that one is partially my fault) will end in a white peace, and any wars that are active will continue but will likely be folded into the wider world war. We must wait until everyone has completed their final factbooks and news posts and is ready for the final war. Once everyone who wants to participate is ready, I will send an unacceptable ultimatum to TK, and then out final hurrah will begin. If anyone has a problem or wants to make some changes, feel free to tell me.
Aside from all of this, I just want everyone to know that this has been possibly the single most enjoyable long-term experience I've ever participated in, and I'd like to thank you all for that. After this war is over? Who knows. Maybe we start a new RP. Maybe the old one rebounds. Maybe we all forget The Southern Lands ever existed before the war can begin. I guess this message has become a kind of pre-emptive goodbye, so I hope to someday see you all again on the other side.
I'll put this message on the discord tomorrow, because right now I really need to go to sleep. See you all later, bye for now.

Hello. I think I forgot I was on here for a bit… sorry guys, life. But yeah, anyways… sounds good. Can someone fill me in on what’s happened since my last news post?

Seems cool, in that case, I'll completely scrap an in-depth nation and be joining soon (as if it would ever be in-depth). Excited to see how it all ends if accepted.

I'd be lying if I said I knew what was happening. Everything honestly began blurring together.

Mainly a rebellion in locoland, a Xeola war, and a missing USSR

Terrae Karunethiae wrote:Hello. I think I forgot I was on here for a bit… sorry guys, life. But yeah, anyways… sounds good. Can someone fill me in on what’s happened since my last news post?

Locoland was having trouble with rebellions and the IRL Locoland player gave USSR control because they were going for a while. Xeola hasn't done anything with the war they started against Stransistria. And last but not least D.E.U.S is suing USSR for peace.

As for the USSR leaving...TWU called out USSR for bs after I announced that after the peace treaty was done I would be stepping away for a few weeks. TWU said that the USSR military needed a debuff, mainly the Welts. The USSR flat out said and I quote

Union of Silver States Union wrote:Fair enough. Removing them.

You don't have to entirely scrap it. If this region doesn't just start a new RP (what I believe is the most likely outcome), I'll probably start my own RP region instead, and everyone here would be welcome to join, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

Anyways, it looks like everyone's on board with the time jump, so I'll get to work on my factbooks and some news posts.
LIKE THIS POST IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE INVOLVED IN WW2. I'm going to structure my battleplans around this and I, like everyone else, have no damn idea what's going on.

I think that we just need to make some of the rules clearer and have a community wide way of checking everyone so that we can all call bs against each other. Maybe a vote on it? But this region has had such care and time put into it that I don't think we should abandon it. It is also established, and while it has some inactive players in it, it will draw in more people.

Every region has its problem, but this one has much less than most regions. Never have I seen this region come to full blown name calling and slandering. We've always taken our time and worked things out reasonably. I would hate to see this Region go to waste.

(If we decide to reset RP, and if TK doesn't want to, I'll make the next map.)

P.S. let's just say that my war against the USSR came to a white peace.

Ok, so it’s decided, we’re gunna jump forward in time to save this amazing region, I am putting out a poll to decide how far in the future or if u have suggestions, just put them in the rmb 😁

I don't want this Region to die either, but the problems go much deeper than a lack of clarity around the rules. This region cannot survive in it's current form, and there are two main reasons for this:

1: Core members are leaving, and we can't replace them. 3 of the 6 "new" nations have been people that I knew IRL and persuaded to join the game. So far, only 1 of the "new" nations (Synodos) has properly and continuously participated in the game, and even then, he hasn't been active for nearly a month now (guessing with that one). Xeola has somewhat contributed, but hasn't actually performed any combat in the war that they started, only covered some small internal affairs that don't really fit with the war. The final new member CTE'd. We aren't getting any new "core" members, and the old ones are, let's face it, starting to grow up. The USSR put it best in a Discord announcement:

Union of Silver States Union wrote:I'm very sorry to say this. But I've been thinking about this for a while, and I think it's time.

I think it's time that I left this server, this RP, everything.

The signs were so clear... everyone was growing up, but I'm still staying in this roleplay that's been on for about 2 years now, and what have I gained? Friends, yes, but also I've lost a lot of time.

I saw it so early. People leaving. First one being Aussie when she left to her university. Now Abstraction and Loco are gone, two of my closest online friends. Chamois and Sonic too. They're moving on. They're leading lives. They're growing up. I'm still stuck in this loop of back-and-forth nonsensical roleplay.

Don't get me wrong, I had fun. It was a dream come true to me. Pretending to be a country, trying to feel how nation leaders felt. But I'm 18 now. I'm practically the eldest here and I still act like a child in this respect. Worse so, I've ruined my reputation with some of you with some of my "jokes." I have studies to complete, but each day when I return home, I check what's going on here. Just like what I did back in high school.

I need to grow up; I need to move on.

I want to let you know I've made some dear memories with you people; How I and Loco started it all back in 2021, up until now. We've had our ups and downs together. I'll hold them dear to my heart, but I need to grab more of a hold on my life.

I personally think that TSL can likely overcome these issues, and a WW2 might just help. Speaking of which,

2: We've RP'd ourselves into a corner. As far as I can see, the world has become divided into two main factions, both lead by superpowers, and a war between them is inevitable. If either side wins, they will achieve a global hegemony, and the chaos that once drove this region will cease. That's why I think we'll need to start anew. And when I say start anew, I don't mean we need to scrap everything. Remember when the regional map was made up of islands? I don't. We changed the map and semi-reset the RP before I joined, and I only know about this because reading the RMB is more interesting than schoolwork, but I think we could do the same kind of semi-reset, resetting everyone's power levels but not needing to start from scratch.

Cool, I just reach 3 billion

I just wanna jump far enough to finish most of my research projects, so 1-2 years is enough for me. If anyone else needs more time though, I do have a couple ideas for what my nation could do.

Alongside those things that TWU mentioned, I think that we've all lost sight of what made all this possible in the first place.

This region was created by Kyrek and Holy Karenland to hang out, with some RP on the side. The RP was something to laugh at, have fun with. The real reason this place grew popular (sort of) was because it wasn't all about the RP. I was here a few months before the semi-reset happened. The reason that we reset was because it was just us five (seven if you count Kentucy and East Versland), we found that the RP had gone stale. Kyrek and HK were locked in an eternal war, and nukes were flying left and right (why we banned them).

We stopped and said to ourselves "What are we doing? This isn't what we wanted. Where did all the laughing go?". That's why we reset. We wanted --needed-- to have fun, not be overly involved in RP, not to make our politics hyper-realistic, not even to make what we wanted to happen. We wanted to put everyone back on a level playing field; we could have fun with something new.

When the merger happened (I don't know all that happened) we had some people that pushed RP to the front as the real reason this region existed. It started to suck the fun out of why I was here. When I first came, I checked every day to see if something would make me laugh or if something crazy happened. Now I think to myself "What crap happened while I was away". It also doesn't help that many of the people in this region RP on Discord. None of us here know what is going on there. They only post here because they have to.

That makes it feel even more like this place is only for RP. I hate that. I want to go back to just laughing at what happens. I think that is the root of the problems we're having. We need to laugh again.

Oh those days 🙂. It’s so great logging on to ns to check out the rp and laugh at goofy stuff people are posting in the rmb. I think if we just push ahead a couple years like TWU said, we could keep the rp (cuz I mean, I still really like the rp stuff) and keep spirits up, (and Tritonios is rejoining so we got one of the top comics and rpers back), but this region still has so much potential, we won’t give up! Long live TSL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long live our roleplay!!! Long live the random goofy stuff people post in our rmb!!!!!

Hey, it's Tritonios.

Terminium is a southern US nation that will hopefully replace Spacelandia with his role. The Ypres Front foreshadowed this a bit in his news post.

You can read my history factbook if you want, though it is very rushed.

In accordance of my factbook and the Yprian news posts, I think it'd be fair to assume Terminium would be an independent nation by the year skip.

I agree… we cannot keep running from the issues and problems that keep occurring in this region. I am sorry USSR had to leave. He could have just been less active or something but I also think we had to have this. It was the only way to realize what was really going on. People weren’t leaving cause we weren’t entertaining them. They were leaving because we put too much pressure on the roleplay. We wanted everyone to make news posts and make it realistic and stay active and do all sorts. They didn’t have fun… they just got stressed

Our roleplay was never meant to be the focus of our region. We were just supposed to have fun but we’ve lost that ability.
Despite all this I do believe this isn’t close to the end of the region. We also have to face that we will have our highs and lows… we can’t do anything about that… we have to face issues then continue no matter how much problems have occurred.

I also think It’s time I told you something that only me and Kyrek know, and I think I should’ve told you this a long time ago. I… have been in this region… for a very long time. Longer than TWU, Ypres, USSR, and even D.E.U.S.. I am a person most of you don't know. I am Burgersburg.
