New General Assembly Resolution
The resolution "Respondeat Superior" is at vote here.

Definitions

Since I suspect most of you won't know what some of the terms in this resolution mean (I certainly didn't), I've included some definitions here.

Respondeat superior (Latin: "let the master answer") is a doctrine that a party is responsible for acts of their agents.

Tort Law is a body of rights, obligations, and remedies that is applied by courts in civil proceedings to provide relief for persons who have suffered harm from the wrongful acts of others.

The main arguments

FOR:
- This resolution ensures that businesses are liable to any harm they cause to their employees
- This will incentivise self-regulation, which will reduce the need for government-imposed business regulation

AGAINST:
- The discussion on the forums was so jargonistic and tedious, that I gave up before finding any arguments against the resolution

The full debate is viewable here.

I'd love to know everybody's opinions on this resolution!

I voted against this resolution for general principles of it's being incomprehensible to all and sundry.

As much as I appreciate the sentiment, I'm not sure if there's much of a basis for a Commendation of myself (or Erinor) right now. They're very unlikely to get to vote, and if they do they'll be shot down quickly.

Concrete Slab wrote:What's a good way to find delegates?

Make a script that uses the NationStates API loop through a lot of regions, then get their delegate, then send a telegram to them using the telegram API. Not that hard, you just need to get a client key from the NS mods.

Concrete Slab wrote:Hey guys! Please tg delegates to get them to approve commend erinor

I would highly advise against this. Your proposal contains clauses which are either irrelevant or false. It is doomed to fail and wasting time and effort contacting other Delegates is not going to change this. I think it's great that you're getting involved with the SC, so don't be put off, but you need to draft your resolutions first and let those knowledgeable about the SC give you their input before you even submit it.

I know, and I appreciate it, but don't worry, it's not a big deal, just a nuisance. I'll get better soon, do not be afraid! *burrows my face and gets cosy* ^-^
