Regional Poll • Who should be considered eligible to vote in Parliament?

The 🐶 Founder of Yodle wrote:This is to help gauge what people feel on the matter, so make sure to vote your conscience

To those voting for the option to bar anyone that isn't an elected official from voting, screw you. You are single-handedly ending real democracy, and turning the region into a dictatorship.

I mean I found the poll very confusing I wasnít really sure what I was voting for.. if it means people can only vote for bills if they are within the Parliament then I agree with that because otherwise how can we ensure puppet states donít vote

Well we shouldnít let any random person to come into parliament, we need elections. [We just donít have a full parliament yet]

Hi

Well you don't need to be elected to be a member of parliament.. we shouldn't let anyone in the region vote, people should be able to join parliament if they are a WA member and then they will get a vote. otherwise, there's no way of managing voting. like I could make 10 puppet states and vote on all of them

Well I think we should let people in at first, excluding puppets of course, then when we reach a full parliament we have elections.

Yes of course like how parliament works at the moment, but how do you know puppets cant join that's why I think as well we need only WA members in parliament

I think that would make sense only WA would make sense.

In last night's major update, beginning the 7th of March 2021, Forest's founder and longest resident Errinundera CTE'd. Though we are unsure of the causes, and hope that all is well for the person behind the name, this event was not entirely unexpected. For some time we have seen the signs, and were able to lay out all the steps and safeguards necessary to ensure an orderly transition to Forest being a stable, Delegate-led region. Because of the nature of Forest's democracy, this change will not significantly impact the long-term function of our government.

As we speak, the necessary Constitutional procedures are being undertaken to make this transition smoothly, and we do not anticipate any significant interruption or alteration to our status, alliances, commitments, or activities. In accordance with Forest law long-ago written for just such an occasion, a password has been placed on the region while we complete this process. This is a temporary state of affairs, and we anticipate that within a short period of time, the necessary votes will have been completed to allow the lifting of this password, and our long-awaited transition to the next government.

We thank you for your ongoing friendship, and look forward to many years of continued growth together.

Verdant Haven
Forest Keeper of Forest

Thank you for the update!

To add in to the debate about voting eligibility (in terms of Parliamentary legislation and not elections), a WA-mandate for admission to the Parliament would help simplify the voting process by having it take place on the region page via a poll limited to only WA Members. This could also help with endotarting efforts by getting more people to participate if we made it a prerequisite for higher positions within the Parliament itself.

We could also keep some semblance of elected officials by having an executive branch separated from the Parliament. That way we vote for all executive offices and that could add an extra dimension to political activity within the region
