The Pacific Board

The broadcast starts up with the Nublarkian flag and national anthem across the screen. The introduction finishes and it cuts to John Talon and the other Archons walking onto a stage with a podium in the center. It is a beautiful mountain day with an awe inspiring snow covered mountain in the background.
First to walk up to the podium is Sterling Randon, one of the candidates in the recently canceled Nublarkian election, it was canceled due to a government shutdown that the public is not aware of the reasons for. His low booming voice echoes in the small town they are in, “Your Premier Aarchon, John Talon has come to send a message to all of the public and fellow nation leaders.
Sterling returns to his seat adjacent to The Premier Archon as John stands up to address the public. “Good morning or evening, whichever it is for you. I would just like to start by saying that the way my colleague said it made it very foreboding, and I want to inform you that it is not, it is quite simply, the opposite of that.” John clears his throat as he is about to get onto the main part of the broadcast. “Nublark Has been an isolationist nation for a long time, always tending to use local materials rather than trade with other nations. I say that it is time for that to stop, I can say nothing to sway people away from buying locally, but trade will be opened up to anyone who is not an aggressor in conflict and who wants trade.”
John falters for a moment as if preparing to say something very painful, “I know that everyone has been wondering about the election and government shutdown, and I am sorry to inform you that your government has not been fully truthful to all of you.” Sterling glares as he does not think the public should know about all of the government affairs, but John thinks differently. John starts again, “The election was cancelled due to us, the government, shutting down. And that was caused, erh, beca-” Before John can finish his statement of government transparency, Sterling jumps out of his chair and shoots John with a pistol he had been concealing in his coat. The guards on either side of the stage try to restrain him but he has already jumped off of the stage and run to a waiting hovercraft. John stumbles from the podium and collapses onto the ground.
Then the broadcast cuts out.
