*In a photo finish final of the men’s 100m, Katudan Danijel Kavran fell to South Baba’s Howie Ellison, who had finished third in the semifinal with 10.21 seconds and only entered this final dash based on his time. Ellison’s win with 10.06 seconds was enough to sprint ahead of Kavran, who earned his silver shield by finishing in 10.08 seconds. The former ULT took the bronze shield with a 10.15 performance by their sprinter. After the race, all runners embraced each other and them let out a huge chant whilst forming a circle on the track*

*Meanwhile, the Auroran Confederacy’s Reinmann Watts clinched a golden shield in the individual foil fencing final today after outmatching his opponent, South Baba’s Alonso Ikin with a clever disengage attack technique that proofed itself against Ikin’s ripostes. Ikin had previously won two golden shields in the singlestick and "canne de combat" disciplines at the 2017 and 2018 SSC editions before moving on to dominate the South Baban foil fencing circuit*

*At the final of the Sport Society Classic -600kg Tug of War, Team SB has failed to win the golden shield, shocking sports predictors around the country. Speaking to the world press after the event, coach Román Pérez Harper reiterated his congratulations to the victors and agreed that the squad’s silver shield is “a worthy outcome but certainly not the one we endlessly trained for.” Pérez refused to comment on whether this was his last SSC as coaching of the South Baban Tug of War team*

There was actually an article on Turkish state media talking about forest fires and the suspicion of PKK being involved, but that's something I read last month.

Entirely speculation. So really this is probably not true or if it is it's coincidence, because out of 15 now, only two have *anticipated* it was the PKK, and the other 13 didn't mention them at all.

And I mean, the PKK committed disgusting attacks, but the extremely aggressive cultural destruction of Kurdish areas and the frankly genocidal destruction of Kurdish villages makes you understand why they were radicalised to that degree.

ATTENTION ALL OSEAN PERSONNEL:

The Directorate of War, after sitting on their butts for the past one and a half years, has officially gotten approval for the 2021 OSEAN Wargames! The Directorate, along with the rest of high command, are currently planning out the logistics of how we are going to execute this.

In the mean time, we would like to ask all of YOU for places to host these on. The Wargames will include both Ground-Based and Naval-Based Exercises, as well as a potential Aerial Exercise for each of these. These exercises do not need to be held in tandem, however, so you need not fret if you are a landlocked nation willing to host the Wargames. The deadline for these is 15th of August, after which we will hold a vote on where the Exercises shall be hosted. Any questions should be directed to Director of war, Greater Saint-Paul.

Post-Scriptum: If any nation who is not alligned in the SR roleplaying world wishes to join the war games, they are invited to send me, The Soviet States of Europe, so i can direct you through the process fo the joining the alliance (which is a prerequist to join the war games) and then the games.

Thank you, the OSEAN goverment

I would like to submit the city of Narvand, Alesund as a place for Ground-Based Exercises, with the Northern Kurula mountains being close by to the northwest of the town. I also submit the city of Tulum, Yelapa for Naval-Based Exercises to be performed off the coast. May our alliance foster mutual feelings of camaraderie once again.

With the ship nearly underwater, only 70 people remain onboard. The coastguard are still working heroically to save these people. The captain of the ship, John Lewis, was found in one of the first lifeboats to arrive at shore. Police have taken him in for questioning after media swarmed the captain. More updates will arrive shortly.

SR RP

38 have been confirmed dead as the last of the survivors were evacuated by rescue teams. John Lewis is already attending court, with multiple lawsuits piling against the boat company. The ship was also seen finally going underwater, splitting in half as it hit the sea floor.

In other news, the military will be conducting a quick test in national waters to see their combat effectiveness from a possible threat in the sea.

Cardiff Airport Aerial view[2014]

If you like aircraft, then this could interest you.

I had a career in aviation and have worked on, and even flew, many aircraft types.

Both rotary and fixed wing, fast military jet and wide bodied civilian airframes.

Cardiff International Airport [CWL] and St. Athan are my local aviation hubs.

I created the forum thread as I still have that interest in aviation.

I still miss the smell of 'avtur' and hydraulic oil. Lol

For more goings on please check out my thread on the forum in TNP's Community Center, Bulletin Board.

Still can't get enough of aircraft?

Then try this thread too! :D

In World War II thousands of planes crashed in the UK.

Not all losses were combat: many were flying accidents due to factors such as bad weather, pilot error or mechanical failure.

129 aircraft crash sites in the South Wales area have been identified.

These have been sorted, duplicates erased and other non-military crashes removed and a further 59 new site records created.

176 aircraft crash sites (terrestrial, intertidal and maritime) are now represented within this thread.

Distribution of aircraft crash sites across South Wales

Aircraft crash sites are a tangible yet enigmatic reminder of the massive changes of the 20th century.

They embody the futility of modern warfare and the potential for instant destruction while demonstrating the technological leaps seen in aviation during the course of the century.

And revealing the history of triumph and disaster.

Providing a memorial to the air crews and the stories behind the final flights of each aircraft.

They have long been the subject of enquiry for many different groups of people, and this has often resulted in the depletion of wreckage from the sites.

Each military aircraft crash site is designated as a Protected Place under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986.

Any intervention on a site requires a license approved by the JCCC Agency of the MoD.

Licenses will not be granted where human remains or unexploded ordnance are anticipated.

As this thread will be finite, I will be posting it in the Community Centre's Polaris Library.

Cleo and I have had our holiday cancelled to Spain, yet again, for September. :(

So now we've moved it to Turkey next year.

Cleo has now booked a holiday in Skegness for a week from 28th August.

But we will be going to stay with family in Ripon before that date, for a couple weeks, leaving 17 August.

This is so we can take care of my Uncle, who has dementia, and the Ripon lot can go to London to visit family there. :D

Went food shopping earlier and I managed to pick up this months copy of Hornby Magazine.

It's got information on all the British Railways standard class [steam] locomotives.

So I shall have a good read of that later. :D

*Following Katuda’s failure to abide by previous contingency commitments regarding the establishment of North Baban bases within their territory after the recent change of status for Camp Mendoza and PAFB Accantolago, the North Baban ministry of Defense (MOD) proposes the leasing of land from the TyGerrian government for use to replace both military bases. North Baba would occupy, use, and modify all agreed properties to fit the needs of PAFNB and PANB bases. TyGerria would retain ultimate sovereignty but, during the occupation, North Baba would exercise sole jurisdiction over the aforementioned areas. Therefore, it is to be understood that the North Baban government would have the right to acquire, by purchase or eminent domain, any land included therein*

SR RP

*The Democratic Republic of North Baba has officially leased land from the TyGerrian government for the establishment of Camp Vincent, a People's Army of North Baba (PANB) military complex, and PAFB Wensin, a People's Air Force of North Baba (PAFNB) base, both built in that nation after a sudden change of status with Camp Mendoza and PAFB Accantolago facilities*

*The North Baban government submitted a second proposal which stipulates payment methods, sets up a survey of the site, paid for by North Baba, and the marking of boundaries with fences. All private lands within the boundaries shall be acquired by TyGerria with a North Baban payment advance facilitating said purchases. Mutual extradition will be guaranteed as well as the prohibition of any commercial or other enterprise within the leased areas*

Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident while checking for speeding motorists on the A1 Great North Road.

One of the officers used a hand-held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was surprised when the speed was recorded at over 300 mph!

Their radar suddenly stopped working and the officers were not able to reset it.

Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact latched on to an RAF Tornado fighter jet which was engaged in a low-flying exercise over the Border district, approaching from the North Sea.

Back at police headquarters the chief constable fired off a stiff complaint to the RAF Liaison office.

Back came the reply in true laconic RAF style:

'Thank you for your message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident.

You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Tornado had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it.

Furthermore, an air-to-ground missile aboard the fully-armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment.

Fortunately the pilot flying the Tornado recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status, and was able to override the automated defence system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed.

Good Day...'
