Anean Union

Motto: "United we stand, for economic prosperity"

Members

Headquarters: Urbis, Miruma

Official Currency: Ane (Δ)

AU Grand Council: Urbis, Miruma

The Anean Union (AU) is a political and economic union of 14 member states that are located primarily in Anea. The AU has developed an internal single market through a standardised system of laws that apply in all member states in those matters, and only those matters, where members have agreed to act as one. AU policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services and capital within the internal market, enact legislation in justice and home affairs and maintain common policies on trade, agriculture, fisheries and regional development. Thus, the AU allows open borders between all member states and requires the use of the Ane (Δ).

It was established by Miruma to connect and strengthen economies of Anea through free trade. It seeks to connect nations towards regional and international peace through cooperation in trade, exchange, and commerce. Its system is based on that of the International Bank Federation, having three branches and a Grand Council.

The AU allows free trade for all members. To further streamline activities such as trade and tourism, the use of the Ane (Δ) is required for all members, but they are permitted to use their own currencies as well. It strives to remain unaligned, as it is simply a bloc that promotes trade and regional cooperation. It pays no attention to ideological differences, and strives to connect all members.

Three Branches:

Trade Council:

The Trade Council, the largest and most important branch of the AU, focuses on the economic side of the organization. It is headquartered in Moisen, Moisus. It consists one delegate per member state. It decides on opening new trade routes, closing routes, approving trade deals, hiring workers, and financing economic vessels. Also, it deals with all funding and accounting. It handles and safeguards the Treasury, which contains deposits of gold and banknotes from each member state. It has 1 total vote in overall voting against the other councils in the Grand Council.

The Council also assists regional corporations in maintaining stability as well as expansion. Several large corporations currently have offices in every member state thanks to the policies of the Trade Council. As such, it bolsters the economies of each member state and guarantees corporate satisfaction. It also regulates the stock exchanges of each country, allowing for streamlined stock trading as well as capping prices to prevent stock price manipulation schemes from happening.

Diplomacy Council:

The Diplomacy Council, the second-largest branch of the AU, focuses on the diplomatic side of the organization. It is bicameral, consisting of the Chamber of Delegates and the Chamber of Representatives. The Chamber of Delegates consists of one delegate per member state, while the Chamber of Representatives reflects the population of each country. The Council focuses on maintaining peaceful relations with each member, keeping a positive image to foreign powers, ensuring just laws for all member states, representing each member against foreign countries, and protecting the AU's standing amongst other economic unions. It handles internal issues within member states and also handles regional crises. Unlike other organizations, the AU is not concerned with the ideology of its member states, as it accepts all countries regardless of their ideology. Just like the Trade Council, the Diplomacy Council has 1 total vote in overall voting against the other councils in the Grand Council.

The Council strives to integrate trade unions across the world in order to create a global trade community that brings prosperity to economies worldwide. However, it does not get entangled in foreign affairs and is a neutral branch dedicated solely to diplomacy in the region and with other organizations.

Security Council:

The Security Council, the smallest branch of the AU, focuses on the defense side of the organization. Its headquarters are located in Cohorse, Minuda. Run by a delegation with one representative from each member state, it decides on funding of the branch, liability for any attacks, and overall defense of all AU assets. It protects trade aircraft and ships from threats such as pirates and ongoing wars. Just like both other Councils, the Security Council has 1 total vote in overall voting against the other councils in the Grand Council.

The Council is also responsible for inspecting cargo for potential threats such as explosives and other hazardous materials. All cargo goes through a speedy, streamlined screening process which detects any threats and makes sure recipient nations are safe. Also, all trade routes are fully protected by the Security Council. The Security Council's purpose is solely the defense of assets, and it will not get involved in any regional or international conflicts. Just like the Diplomacy Council, it is a neutral branch dedicated to only trade and regional cooperation.

Osiris-rex wrote:
Hello and thank you for joining us in our journey to see how the two nations join the TNP RMB RP community and learn how to calculate their military.

Once upon a time there were two Nations in the game of NationStates by the name of Jacktopia and Jillopia who stumbled upon the Regional Message Board of the North Pacific. There are many Regional Message Boards throughout NationStates but the North Pacific had the most liveliest, laid out and controlled Roleplay Scene of all the Regional Message Boards.
-
Jacktopia was a relatively new nation to NationStates, he had only been around for a month or two but he had grown the respectable population of 278 million by the time he stumbled upon the Roleplay Scene in the North Pacific's Regional Message Board.
Jillopia however had been around NationStates for a much longer time, hippity hopping region to region like a bunny looking for a region to call her own, during all this time her nation grew to a rather large 3.462 billion, a three with nine zeros! She eventually went to the North Pacific, the largest of all the regions!

-
Both read around the Regional Message board and read all the amazing Roleplay that could be found there, Jacktopia was immediately impressed by what he saw and Jilliopia decided she at last had found a region for her to settle down in permanently.
"But how to join?" was the question burning upon both their tongues, because how does one join such a community?
-
They were a bit afraid but soon found someone willing to reach out to them and help them.
First of all there was a set of rules they had to abide by written on several factbooks by the names of "Movebo Deus Modus et Solve Fasciculos" "Recte Vivere" and "Manifest Accusation Prohibet Seditiones", the words were hard to pronounce and hard to understand but it was mostly refered to as "the godmode treaty", "the Imperialism Treaty" and "the Rebellion treaty".
These factbooks laid out the rules they would have to follow to be part of the Roleplay Scene such as naming the things that could not be used as they were a threat to the quality of the Roleplay or that new people get a period of safety to settle in so they do not get attacked the second they show up. But one of the rules was that they would have to be on the map in order to be considered canon to it, this meaning that they could actually officially Roleplay! But what map do they have to get on? They have heard something about something called "Stra-nger-eal" and some other maps, but after asking around some they found out that the official canon map was The Strangereal Universe
-
After applying for a spot on the map they decide the size of their Roleplay Population that fit their spot and environment. after this they could now at last begin their journey into the Roleplay Scene! But... yet it felt they were missing something, they thought hard for a while and then came to the realisation they did not have a military yet! But how do they get one? They can just think of the numbers themselves can't they? Well no, they couldn't as it would create chaos and godmoding.
-
But then how do they calculate their military? Well it is quite simple!
They only needed a few things: A calculator, the first article in the godmode treaty, their Roleplay Population number, their NationStates Population Number found in their nations main tab, and their Defence Forces stat found by using this link and filling in their nation "https://www.nationstates.net/nation=[yournationhere]/detail=trend/censusid=46"
This was 78 million Roleplay Population, 278 million NationStates Population, and 8,937 Defence Force Stat for Jacktopia
And 81 million Roleplay Population, 3,462 Billion NationStates Population, and 31,594 Defence Force Stat for Jillopia
-
Now it was time to actually calculate their military!
They opened up the first section and looked at all the data they'd need to look at, the numbers all jumped and hopped around, but Jacktopia and Jillipia did not give up and focused on the task at hand. First went Jillopia, certain that despite her smaller Roleplay Population she would come out with a larger army due to her Defence Stat being over three times Jacktopia's Defence Stat. She kept her numbers in mind as she looked at the tab, she had rounded off 30k Military Stat which was much more than the 20k required for severely militarized at 1.5 Billion. Except... she was not between 1.5 and 2 billion, and as such she had to calculate onwards with 5k extra being required for every 500k population, this resulted in her requiring 35k at her NationStates Population number of between 3 and 3.5 billion, to her dismay this was higher than she had and thus had to look furhter.
She then calculated onwards from the very militarized branch requiring between 15k and 20k at 1.5 billion which also rose by 5k per 500k population. This caused the requirement to be between 30k and 35k at the 3 billion population level, her 31,594 fell in this bracket! And thus she knew she was very Militarized.
-
Now it was Jacktopia's turn, he looked at the severely militarized branch which required 7k Defence Stat at 250 million population, but, that was right on point! And so he knew that he was severely militarized.
They then looked at the chart which percentage they would get, Jillopia could use up to 7% of her Roleplay Population as her military!
Jacktopia was Severly Militarized which allowed him to use up to 10% of his Roleplay Population as his military!
-
But this still did not answer how big their militaries were!? But they had reached the final calculation.
Jacktopia took his 78 million population and calculated that 10% of 78 million is 7,800,000
Jillopia took her 81 million population and calculated that 7% of 81 million is 5,670,000
And so they have found their answer, Jacktopia is allowed up to 7.8 million troops and Jillopia up to 5.67 million troops, this shows that despite Jillopia being a much older nation with both more NationStates and Roleplay Population than Jacktopia she came out lower than him, this is due to the system making it more fair for everyone so older nations are not massively stronger than new ones!

-

And so we have come at the end of our journey, Jacktopia and Jillopia can now participate in the Roleplay Scene and have fun with everyone in our beloved TNP RMB RP.
We wish all of you a good night, and farewell.

"The fields of grain once charred are now golden and where their brethren once lie dead, cattle now roam freely"

With the Stratocracy's victory in the Sarko-Eripolisian War, the region of East Osea saw peace once again. However peace was not something to be taken for granted and the Marshal of all people understood that well.

The presence of the Eripolis which, while claiming to have left its bitterness in the past could very well still feel hopeful of one day retaking its lost territories, as well as the nation's now wider and more vulnerable coastline were two major issues which the Marshal hoped to rectify immediately.

Upon waters off the Sarkish coast a tremendous warship loomed, large waves breaking into ripples upon contact with its hull. It cast a shadow upon the smaller vessels which gathered around it, servants to a king. This was the SSN Leviathan-class Dreadnought, pride of the Sarkish navy. But one of many ships which would, starting today, patrol Sarkish waters.

"These fields of gold and cattle we cherish, but shall not take for granted."

Wow! Long post!
Anyway, I have two solutions to this issue, both of which would be beneficial to Alunyans.
1. Educate all Alunyans on conversion from base 10 to base 6 so that they can convert the notes themselves.

OR

2. Digitalize the Ane, making transactions across the continent easier.

1. Alunyans are already very familiar with conversions between senary and decimal, and vice versa, because being familiar with decimal is so vital to science and commerce in StrangeReal. They also are taught senary to hexadecimal, and vice versa, for understanding how computers function. But like everyone, it is always easier to use the number system you were taught as a child.

How many of us that were taught hexadecimal IRL can add 51416 + 2BC16 in our heads and quickly arrive at 7D016? My guess is none of us, even the proficient programmers amongst us, can do so easily. How many of us can add 1,300 + 700 in our heads and quickly arrive at 2,000? Just about everyone...

Now imagine the rest of the world used hexadecimal exclusively, and you had used decimal from you earliest childhood, along with all your fellow countrymen. How comfortable would you be using a currency from an economic union that insisted everyone convert to hexadecimal? How eager might you be to join? Would it help if the bank notes also had a decimal representation, or even came in familiar decimal denominations, to get you and your countrymen to buy in?

Anyway, the vigesimal (K, or base 20) representations would certainly help any Mayans, or Mayan-like nations. I’m inclined to introduce an alternate bank note series for those who still use Roman numerals, if that’s acceptable to you.

2. A local farmer who puts bottles of slivovitz in an open roadside stand operating on the honor system, and expects you to put your money in the slotted lock box, isn’t going to be accepting debit or credit cards. He’s got trees to prune, bees to move, hay to gather, and cows to milk. And if you’re a tourist with digital Ane, the only way left to you to get that plum brandy is to steal it.

Cold, hard cash still has its uses.

Anyway, I’m doing the legwork to make it plausible for Alunyans to join the Anean Union. Let’s make it such that if a subscript on a price is missing, it shall be the default position that it is a decimal price, providing the number doesn’t contain any letters. And as a bonus, you’re getting your currency values in powers of two, duodecimal, and vigesimal with no effort on your part.
