With the Stratocracy's victory in the Sarko-Eripolisian War, the region of East Osea saw peace once again. However peace was not something to be taken for granted and the Marshal of all people understood that well.
The presence of the Eripolis which, while claiming to have left its bitterness in the past could very well still feel hopeful of one day retaking its lost territories, as well as the nation's now wider and more vulnerable coastline were two major issues which the Marshal hoped to rectify immediately.
Upon waters off the Sarkish coast a tremendous warship loomed, large waves breaking into ripples upon contact with its hull. It cast a shadow upon the smaller vessels which gathered around it, servants to a king. This was the SSN Leviathan-class Dreadnought, pride of the Sarkish navy. But one of many ships which would, starting today, patrol Sarkish waters.

How many of us that were taught hexadecimal IRL can add 51416 + 2BC16 in our heads and quickly arrive at 7D016? My guess is none of us, even the proficient programmers amongst us, can do so easily. How many of us can add 1,300 + 700 in our heads and quickly arrive at 2,000? Just about everyone...
Now imagine the rest of the world used hexadecimal exclusively, and you had used decimal from you earliest childhood, along with all your fellow countrymen. How comfortable would you be using a currency from an economic union that insisted everyone convert to hexadecimal? How eager might you be to join? Would it help if the bank notes also had a decimal representation, or even came in familiar decimal denominations, to get you and your countrymen to buy in?
Anyway, the vigesimal (K, or base 20) representations would certainly help any Mayans, or Mayan-like nations. I’m inclined to introduce an alternate bank note series for those who still use Roman numerals, if that’s acceptable to you.
2. A local farmer who puts bottles of slivovitz in an open roadside stand operating on the honor system, and expects you to put your money in the slotted lock box, isn’t going to be accepting debit or credit cards. He’s got trees to prune, bees to move, hay to gather, and cows to milk. And if you’re a tourist with digital Ane, the only way left to you to get that plum brandy is to steal it.
Cold, hard cash still has its uses.
Anyway, I’m doing the legwork to make it plausible for Alunyans to join the Anean Union. Let’s make it such that if a subscript on a price is missing, it shall be the default position that it is a decimal price, providing the number doesn’t contain any letters. And as a bonus, you’re getting your currency values in powers of two, duodecimal, and vigesimal with no effort on your part.
Good idea.
