Through the crisp, cold, and heavy air, a group of Atheenian jet fighters soar through the Usonean sky. One of these planes, a standard F-16 Fighting Falcon, is ahead of the squadron and zooming over the forest below; the action below seems so insignificant to the pilots, but the consequences of those ants' sacrifices were known by all. In that lead plane, pilot Adam Derricks looks ahead through the fogging windshield. Pressing a few buttons and toggling a central trigger, he begins communicating with his other allies behind him. Through his helmet, he barks, "Red Hope Squadron, lookout for aggressors; we're in enemy territory and we need to be aware of our surroundings. Blue Hope Squadron, break away from us and survey the nearby area. If there's no activity, then act as a support to some Tanabonian or Arirangese fleets". After the radio cuts out, the pilots do as commanded. The blue painted jets drop a few hundred feet and shift towards an increasingly perpendicular direction. For the Red Hope Squadron, they move ahead and prepare for the forces against them.

Minutes pass with surprisingly no action. Out of confusion, one of the pilots happily tells Adam, "Either the path has already been cleared or the Lunteverians are sleeping!". Not appreciating the joke, the commander angrily responds, "Don't assume the best, Malcolm. We could easily be-" Suddenly, the sound barrier is heard being broken a relative distance from the allied group. Moments later, the nose of various fighters stick out of the grey and bleak clouds, preparing for combat. The two groups charge at each other with great velocity, but the enemies swerve out of the way. However, this move causes them to follow behind the Atheenians, placing them on the offensive. Realizing the situation, Adam commands the squadron to flank, maneuver, and break apart from the enemies. The air battle has begun.

The dogfight goes on for seemingly an eternity. Adam managed to dodge an attack and returned to a stable position. Chasing the Lunteverian with closing speed, he awaits for the perfect opportunity to strike. After mimicking the moves of the jet ahead, he successfully lines up his target and fires a missile toward it. A second passes and the the pilot's heart pauses; BAM! an orange ball of energy and death fills Adam's vision. The jet begins twirling down to the ground at a remote forest. Signaling his victory he tells the others, "One is down, I repeat one is down". The others congratulate Adam, but are also occupied with their own conflicts. Adam then turns his attention to another enemy. Seeing it pin an Atheenian F-16, he ambushes it and launches his second missile. Once more, it hits but nearly impacts his fellow comrade as well. Sighing, he moves onward.

The battle finishes the way of the Atheenians. Yet, with two unfortunate losses it feels bittersweet. To gain some morale for their victory, Adam says, "Good job, men. This'll clear the way for the foreseeable area. I also got word from the Blue Hope Squadron that they joined successful armadas of Haven League jets; They've been paving the way for even more arial dominance. Now that the air is cleared here, it's time for the Thunderbolt II and bomber planes to mow down the oncoming Lunteverian bases. Diamondbacks, firebomb all targets and strategic enemy zones".
