The North PacificBoard

A soldier sat in a metal folding chair outside his tent. His olive drab battle fatuiges where wrinkled and dirty. On the wood folding table in front of him was his 1911 and field cap. He bobbed his head to the tune of Oh,Pretty Woman as it came in over the radio. His fatuiges had the name Boyd sewn over his left breast pocket and on the other was U.S. Army on the other. He lifted his Coca cola up to his lips and took a deep sip from the glass bottle. In the hot weather of the base in the Cryobian, it was nessicary for him to roll up his sleeves. On which was his two chevrons pointing up, both gold. another soldier, reading a magazine sat next to Boyd. Boyd threw his head back in the sun beating down.

"My god Fitz, why does it have to be so hot over here. I'm perfectly happy with the nice tundra of home, back in Tanabon."

Fitzgerald chuckled "you got that, brother. I don't even know why we are here." He said, not taking his eyes off his magazine. His legs where crossed, sweat beading on his forehead. He whiped it off, and turned the page.
"So, how's your woman back home, eh?" He asked, looking over at Boyd. Smirking.

"Ah, shut up Fitz. I got a letter the other day and get this. She broke up with me and ran off with some random person who she met at the diner. Good news is that I get the house." Boyd said with little emotion in his voice.

"Well, that's unfortunate. If it helps, from what you've said, i never liked her." He chuckled and went back to the magazine.

Another olive drab wearing soldier walked over, but he was wearing two bars on his collar. He turned and looked over to the two.

"You two! Get up now! What the hell do you think your doing sitting around, we have a base to get operational!"

The two sprang to attention.

"Yes, sir!" They said.

"You two are to be sent to the west side, and start filling sandbags. NOW." He said, and put them at ease. Boyd and Fitz went over to the station and grabbed shovels to continue prepping the base.
