Security Council Resolution - Repeal of TCN Resolution 019 - Condemnation of Sequoyah and Sanctions
Sponsored by the Constitutional Republic of Sequoyah

To vote, quote this post and clearly state your vote (In Favor, In Opposition, Abstaining), and have it be followed by a statement on why your delegation has chosen to vote in that manner (it can be brief or extensive, but include a statement). Debate between delegations is welcomed. The vote will be opened until a majority is reached, or until a time of 24 hours has passed since its opening.

Given that this a Security Council Resolution, it requires a simple majority to pass (without counting abstentions), but can be vetoed by members of the Big Three.

Sequuyah votes in favor of this resolution
Sequoyah hopes to enter into a new period of prosperity and peace as great changes are made. This vote was made with the approval of the various Tribal governments.

The New Gandorian Delegation votes AGAINST this resolution. Just because these actions are swept under the rug temporary, doesn't mean the problem has been dealt with fully. Only time will tell if Sequoyah truly means what it says.

Your government can claim that, Zion, but I'm going to void that any tribe not aligned with the government during the slavery era supposedly approved of this. This isn't like several generations passed, it's the same ones you enslaved, and the sanctions don't harm the tribes, as the sanctions only target products of slavery. Void, but you're free to claim IC that they did approve.

The Malgan delegations response:
Malgax has decided to vote against the resolution. Sequoyah (The constitutional republic of zion) has not proved it is willing to not only end slavery forever, nor to make it legally impossible for any such institution to be implemented again in the country. Until we are sure that Sequoyah is free from the taint of slavery will we consider lifting these just sanctions.

The Willdavisian delegation vote AGAINST Resolution 028. Even though the nation of Sequoyah said improvements were made, there is absolutely no proofs of this statement. Also, the country want us to forgive this fast that they legalized slavery in the past ? Sanctions are made for a reason, to change. And Sequoyah has not proven yet that they did.

Lyoan Delegation Vote

“The Delegation of the Republic of Lyoa will be voting AGAINST this resolution. Sequoyah has yet to prove to the world that they have changed. Simply because they may have instituted a new constitution does not mean they will follow it or that they intend to change their ways. Lyoa believes the maintenance of the sanctions is necessary as to force Sequoyah to follow their new constitution and to not return to their old ways. Once proof that Sequoyah intends to change itself is established, Lyoa will reconsider its stance on this matter. Until then, we are voting AGAINST.“

Due to our country's position on this issue we will abstain from voting on this matter. We are however, pleased with the efforts made thus far by the government of Sequoyah to repair the damage they caused to their people and move themselves forward. That being said, we feel it is too soon still to completely lift everything.

BOSTONIA, QUEBECSHIRE

The delegation of the esteemed and superior Serene State of Quebecshire votes in opposition, thus vetoing proposed Resolution 028. The delegation has delivered the below statement as the justification for this vote,

"This resolution, in its arguments and simply its writing, is a primitive and accurate representation of the Sequoyan state. It is vague and provides no substance in regards to its scrambled attempt to prohibit slavery whilst also giving Sequoyah a pass for its actions. It is entirely possible that under these stipulations a future government could bend this definition to continue the abuse Sequoyah has forced upon its natives.

If the Sequoyan state is so committed to its attempts to end its national shame, then the condemnation and sanctions should pose no problem at this moment. The condemnation is clearly directed at the institution of slavery, and the sanctions only target the products of that slavery. There is quite frankly, no reason to repeal these sanctions, and if this were to become an issue in another state, such a resolution to apply them there as well would only be reasonable.

This resolution, based on the premise that Sequoyah has somehow corrected a great sin of governance that spanned centuries has somehow been rectified in months, is delusional, nothing more than a feeble attempt to correct a disfigured reputation."

The Creeperian delegation votes strongly against this resolution.

The only reason the Sequoyan regime "outlawed" slavery was because it was an attempt to regain favor in the international community. TCN Resolution 019 punished Sequoyah for legalizing slavery in 2020 and economically crippled the nation. The regime sought for ways to fix the economy, and the only was was to proclaim to the world that it had "outlawed" slavery. Every nation's government saw the blatant lie that was put forth by the regime since slavery was still legal. Slavery was only illegal on paper but not in practice. Quote, "The slave trade was made de jure illegal on May 9th, 2020, although many were still kept in slave-like conditions through "debt slavery."" Curious. Even scholarly sources on the internet state that slavery wasn't truly made illegal.

The new Sequoyan regime is attempting to play the same game. They are proclaiming that they have made slavery illegal in an attempt to save their financial situation. They don't have any remorse or regret for what they did to human beings, they only have remorse and regret to what they did to their financial situation. If the Terraconserva Council of Nations never sanctioned Sequoyah, slavery would still be overtly supported by the regime, but because the Terraconserva Council of Nations cut their international source of income, they are desperate to put on an act to display themselves as remorseful and regretful of the human rights violations they committed. The regime has resorted to killing people and destroying property in a desperate attempt to portray themselves as civilized, except, killing people and destroying property is not civilized.

Let's look at the nation of Morova. Karamazov attempted to play games with the international community: endorse and support Deltino, kill his own people, attempt to play chicken with blockader forces and humanitarian workers, illegally infiltrate Quebecshire with a ship of "refugees," engage in battle with 8 nations, and commit terrorism in Bostonia. How did that end for Mr. Karamazov? It ended is his trial and execution. Sequoyah is already playing games with the international community by legalizing slavery, committing genocide against its native inhabitants, and attempting to blatantly lie to the international community to gain its international revenue back. How will this end for Mr. Adama and Mr. Stanford? We shall see.

Sequoyan Reponse
The Sequoyan government released a written response to the Freemont Expositor today.
With the ratification of the new constitution, all tribals are granted Sequoyan citizenship and the full rights that come with it. We have granted the tribals autonomous provinces, with Cheyenne, Arapaho, and New Samaria being governed entirely by tribal governments. The treaty of Freemont has made slavery illegal in Sequoyah, and the Deseret Rangers, under compliance of executive order 66, have freed thousands of illegally held slaves quickly and efficiently. Sequoyah is moving forward into the future. It is ignorant for foreign powers to believe we have made no progress when the tribes now have more political representation than they did before the passage of TCN resolution 019.

Any world leader is smart enough to see that the abolition (a lazy one, at that) of slavery in Sequoyah had one purpose - money.

It was only banned after buying the products of slavery from Sequoyah were banned, so Sequoyah attempted to save face for money for its ruling class.

The nation of Sequoyah has decided to bring yet another resolution to the table that has flawed principals and points and for the second time the Islamic Republic will have to use it's veto power. The nation's existence in this council is becoming incredibly troublesome and unruly. No matter what has happened in the six months since the Islamic Republic with the rest of Aurebeshia cut off trade with Sequoyah it is still too soon to say what actually goes on there. Leaders of Sequoyah, the members in the council are not to blame for the lack of development in your country. Your leadership is. The city of Nueva Vegas is fairly developed while the rest of the nation is stuck in the age of the Ayreoshubic Kingdom. The treatment of natives is cruel and the attempt to label the Confederacy of Southern Tribes as terrorists in this council further shows that this nation has not yet fully changed. More time should be given before this nation should be allowed back into the international market as for now the nation still is, in terms of social rights, backwards. I as delegation of the Islamic Republic applaud Quebecshire for also vetoing this and also encourage Eminople to do the same for even though one veto, two, or three makes no difference it will show that this council and the majority of the members on it are sick of this nation's government.

Terranilian Vote

Terranihil votes AGAINST this resolution.

Terranihil's line of reasoning is similar to the nation of Quebecshire's. The condemnation of Sequoyah should stand, even if the nation claims it has reformed its ways and abolished slavery; the regressiveness of Sequoyah's actions and its effects on the native people of the land will not be quickly forgotten or forgiven. The prohibition of purchasing Sequoyan goods only applies to goods produced via slaves; as long as Sequoyah does not practice slavery, the operative clauses of resolution 19 will not sanction or harm Sequoyah.

The negative retributions of Sequoyah's treatment of indigenous peoples cannot be completely mended by a new constitution. Furthermore, Sequoyah's attempted whitewashing of it's past actions before submitting this resolution proves that there reforms were made not for the oppressed people in the nation but to encourage foreign money to flow back into the Sequoyan economy. This is deeply saddening and despicable.

It's clear to see that Sequoyan government is the mother of foreigners, and the stepmother of Sequoyans.

Quebecshirite Government Speaks Out on Ernest Pyle

For the first time since the incident, the Quebecshirite government has spoken out on the disputes regarding Ernest Pyle, as the Administration of International Cooperation and Diplomacy has released the following statement.

Regardless of the varyingly corroborated allegations against the government of Terranihil, it is most appropriate that Ernest Pyle is subjected to judicial hearings for his actions at the minimum, impartial ones, at that.

The allegations can be screamed all they want, but it does not change this fact: Pyle was a foreign individual with zero investigative or journalistic credentials authorized by the Council of Nations nor the government of Terranihil - meaning he had no legal mandate to be an interloper in those locations. He trespassed on areas classified as sensitive and prohibited by the state he knowingly visited, and he knowingly attempted to gain information about those locations for his personal gain in regards to his writings.

The only reason Pyle is being defended by Aurebeshia, which includes itself undemocratic states, is because he trespassed against a member of the Terraconserva Economic Union. If the roles were reversed the Aurebeshian powers would be appealing to the international community claiming their sovereignty had been violated, yet they take no issue defending those who do it to the states which politically challnege their dominance both on the eastern continent and on the broader geopolitical scale.
