The Fengtian clique and the Beiyang Government were close to war with each other over the City of Beijing. With Zhang Zuolin, the leader of the Fengtian clique having been assassinated during the Japanese Occupation of Manchuria during the Siberian Intervention of Russia, the Fengtian was effectively a Japanese puppet Military State of 40,000 Soldiers, and with a population of 32 Million, it would easily be one of the most core parts of Japans war effort to seize China.
A Message was sent to the Beiyang government to join Japan as a dominion of it's empire, or face war on it's Doorstep. In preperation for the war, 150,000 Japanese soldiers were Mobilised to the Border of Beiyang. Armored Cars and Gas Artillery units were also deployed as 300,000 additional troops were deployed into Manchuria with the remaining 350,000 Japanese troops staying on the Japanese Home Islands and Korea.
