Comrades Communism Shall Prevail
Arbitrary humans, Anarchist ionian islands, Democratic Communist Federation, and Benevolestan
You're welcome. I just submitted an issue myself. Apparently, I will receive a telegram if it is accepted.
Ideological defense and building socialism:
Since most of us live in non-socialist countries, I feel like this is the most necessary task of any socialist. Let's pool some common responses we encounter either from the propagandized masses or by anti-socialist intelligensia, businessmen, and politicians and discuss our responses. (If you want, you can draw sources found on NS from the forums.) I feel like without smashing the ideological boxes socialism has been put in, it's very hard to build a socialist movement.
I am constantly put in a position of defending communism/socialism to my students. Since I am very open about being a communist in my classes, the challenges come almost everyday. My general response is to explain that, here in the U.S. Bible belt, most people learn about Marxism from anti-Marxists. If you want to find out about chemistry, you would ask a chemist, not sociologist. Similarly, if you want to find out about Marxism, read what Marxists, from a variety of currents or tendencies, say about themselves.

What kinds of things do your students say? How do you normally respond?
Thanks everyone for the links. THe more I read some of the links (and Reddit posts), the more I realize the biggest gap in our armor (for Western and Chinese socialists) is Marxist philosophy and dialectical materialism. Many (online) defenders of Marxism lack proper understanding of this aspect, which makes their arguments easy targets for well-trained bourgeois academics and trolls who repeat propaganda intended to hit these weak points. One-liners might shut up reactionaries and "win" an argument, but quite often, it leaves newcomers to socialism bereft of a learning opportunity.
It`s my new GenSec
South cingalia and Democratic Communist Federation
Many of them assume that communism involves autocracy. I explain that communism is, simply, the establishment of cooperatives. In the first stage, the cooperatives would operate under a state. In the second stage, the state would be replaced by a federation (or something of the sort). I then sometimes distinguish between the faux democracy under capitalism and the proletarian democracy under communism. If I am in the mood, I will go on to offer a definition of freedom as personal and collective emancipation from capitalism.
i am also new to the internationale and NationStates. How do i change my ideology to left wing utopia?
Democratic Communist Federation and Tawwassen
also how do i get more citizens?
Welcome to TI! You can change your national ideology by answering issues. Look at the NS forum for more information, and if you have questions, feel free to ask on the NSLeft forum or on our Discord server - we keep the RMB clear for more in-depth conversations and not so much about NS issues.
You'll automatically get more citizens in your nation every day, it's not something you have to do anything to get.

ok thank you
The category of your nation is determined by a NationStates script. There is no way to change your category from the site settings. For instance, my category is currently left wing utopia, but it does not stay that way. It changes periodically with the daily questions. I generally just pick the position closest to a communist or socialist position.
Your citizens are just a part of the game. Again, it is determined by a script.
