so what are y'alls agenda if elected?

How efficient are you planning for the House to be this term?

Cerdenia wrote:so what are y'alls agenda if elected?

The first thing we will be doing is the reconfirmation of The Marconian State as Justice.
The ability of the Court to run smoothly is vital, especially as the Court is currently unable to accept the case as they say they are in a "split 1-1 decision". The ability for our Judiciary to run smoothly is vital to the region's function. I'd also like to look at any sort of Judicial reform as something we should be looking at later in term, if only to avoid this scenario again.

Afterwards I'd like to look at the Congressional Investigation and Accountability Act to provide much needed updates to our Congressional Investigations Act, which has never been used, in part due to it being rather poor. Hopefully with this new Act, we will be able to actually have Congress hold other branches of Government accountable instead of us simply threatening to do something then never doing it, which is unfortunately a recurring theme for the last three years in the region.

However I will be putting the Electoral Commission reform bill up as soon as it is available [after Marco, of course] because of the state of the last election. I welcome bills that reform the EC Act we have now, and I feel that whatever we go with, public elections, reforms staying in line with the status quo, or otherwise, must be debated as soon as we can. I have also heard that the bill will be bipartisan as well, and a big theme I have is putting up bills that are wanted. I don't feel that the Speaker should single handedly refuse to put up a bill that basically everyone else wants and force everyone to sponsor it- just a loser move imo. Provided the bill is well written I will be putting that up soon.

I would also like to pass the Law Registry Act reforms I proposed some terms ago, in order to clean up the LR as it is currently littered by one-time bills or repealed bills. Said bill would simply put them in a separate dispatch so we have them for history sake & we can make the current law easily viewable and accessable without confusing people, especially as the BB Code on LR 001 to LR 020's page especially is horrid right now (partially my fault; but the main issue lies in the repealed bills- they cause havoc because of some weird stuff with the striking on that page. The bill would resolve this).

Otherwise generally just whatever is best written, best needed, and best supported. No point in me putting up a bill that only I support. Generally, the agenda will be as above plus a healthy degree of common sense.

It is hard to properly answer this question, because no candidate is able to really give an answer other than "100%".

However I feel that it is important to say we have to be 110% efficient this term as we have already lost ten days. At top speed no debating, that's three bills- which is a lot.
At the same time it is important we don't sacrifice our debating and looking over laws in order to achieve a "we passed 10 laws"- but they're all rubbish.

As such as Speaker I will be pushing for everyone to input their thoughts on bills, both publicly and privately, so we can get a good overlook of bills and have efficiency. Despite the challenges this term is posed with, I'm confident we can put it down in history together as one of the best House terms.

Cerdenia wrote:so what are y'alls agenda if elected?

I don稚 plan on pushing a certain agenda while speaker. There痴 a few things that need to be done as soon as the speaker election is done, namely Marco痴 appointment to the high court. After the like two or three things I consider high priority we値l be doing a bit of catching up to the senate before we see anything new.

Sunipi wrote:How efficient are you planning for the House to be this term?

Efficient as we can, I知 not the type of person to wait for inactive MPs to vote before ending a vote. I plan on not letting any vote period last longer than two days, same with debate. (except when debate needs the extra time.)
Ideally we壇 keep to the constitutional minimum of 36 hours per bill, but realistically that will happen only a couple of times. I plan for 48 hours per bill, hopefully we get to keep to that plan.

To the candidates, what specific bills on the docket will you be prioritizing? What policy changes are you interested in seeing/bringing to the House/Thaecia?

New Ikesandria wrote:To the candidates, what specific bills on the docket will you be prioritizing? What policy changes are you interested in seeing/bringing to the House/Thaecia?

There痴 two things right now that I think should be top priority: Marco痴 appointment to the High Court, and the constitutional amendment for a new voting system. After that we値l do some other things that I can稚 remember at the moment, but I知 sure they池e important too. I am interested in bringing in some new policy changes, however, what I want to do and what I am going to do are two different things. I won稚 push for really any radical reforms and won稚 prioritize the things that I want to pass, instead I will prioritize things that will just objectively make the region better.

Can you specify what the new voting system would look like?

New Ikesandria wrote:To the candidates, what specific bills on the docket will you be prioritizing? What policy changes are you interested in seeing/bringing to the House/Thaecia?

I have mostly answered this already in my above response to Cerdenia so I will just simplify it a bit.

The first priority is Marco's confirmation in order to ensure the court can continue to function.
The second priority will be the Electoral Commission reform act, which has not been completed.
Otherwise the priority will be the Congressional Investigation and Accountability Act in order to give Congress some teeth that it has been claiming it has for years but has never actually used, like a dull blade in butter.

The changes we need to the House is to increase our speed and efficiency.
I want to use the best time of bills possible, which for me will be about 36 hours. The minimum is 12 hours, but I think that's frankly ridiculous.
Catching up on lost time is the problem this term and future terms will have to face, it is the responsibility of all MPs and a very good Speaker to step up and minimise Ashlawn's damage, whether he did it directly or indirectly.

Considering my past experience in the Senate I know it makes me the best candidate for the job at this time.

Also, Snalland mentioned something about overhauling the election process. Can you specify what Snall meant?

New Ikesandria wrote:Also, Snalland mentioned something about overhauling the election process. Can you specify what Snall meant?

Brototh wrote a constitutional amendment to make votes public, that痴 the thing I知 talking about. I don稚 support it, but it should be discussed while it is still relevant.

A better overall bill is being written to do a lot more edits to the election system. It's the one I mentioned in my posts. I believe the current suggestion is to have private ballots but have them + names be released once an election finishes.

I think perhaps this could be a good work around for the "people will be harassed to edit their vote" (which doesn't happen in other regions with good OOC moderation ftr!! it's a bad argument!!) and the "people's votes will be edited" cause it allows us to make sure the votes were a) counted up right & b) not changed.

Either way if it's kept the same or that system is introduced, or whatever, for me it will be a priority to go up ASAP. Looking forward to the finished product.
