It seems most of DUFS will be on break, however I have been making small talk with their Foreign Affairs Director

New Jamiea so how has talks with the DUFS President going?

They're progressing. They said they'd like to discuss the reason for inviting us to join the DRO, as well as the effect of inviting us to the organisation, alongside what effect it'll have on the region. I'm now awaiting their response.

During my campaign for the Presidency, I promised to strengthen our democracy by coming up with & implementing regional strategies to increase public participation, openness and transparency. Here are the official regional strategies for this term:

- Increasing public participation:

  • Allowing citizens to vote on Govt legislation alongside legislators. This can be embedded into government procedures when they are created.

  • Allowing citizens of the region to make submissions on new legislation. This can also be implemented into govt. procedures.

  • Investigate other methods of increasing participation by examining policies used in other regions.

  • Explore the idea of policy crowd-sourcing, allowing the public to suggest policy ideas or changes.

  • Consider the establishment of an official regional forum.

- Openness & Transparency:

  • An independent entity (and other entities if required) will be established with an aim to increase & uphold openness and transparency within the regional govt. This entity (having trouble thinking of a name for it) will contain information newly passed legislation, government procedures, policies etc in dispatches. It will hold special legal status and will not be officially recognized as a citizen of the region, but instead as a legal govt. entity responsible for providing the public with readily accessible information on the government, acting as information hub. It will not have the ability to vote on legislation and will be statutorily independent from the regional govt.

  • A separate entity (The Great Region Dispatch Office) will be established to contain press releases on behalf on the govt to inform the public of new developments in the regional government. Like the entity mentioned above, it too will hold special legal status, be statutorily independent and will not be officially recognized as a citizen of the region.

To keep this plan we need activity. Therefore I am creating a regional activity survey poll,

Hi, yes we are :)

New Jamiea wrote:Hi, yes we are :)

Sweet, you guys have a map?

We do, but it's pretty out of date:

Here is an updated map of The Great Region, with all nations & unclaimed areas for nations to settle:

Read factbook

Areas of New Jamiea, The Quokka Isles (as New Jamiea's overseas territory) & The Great Youtube on the map are still valid however.
