Last afternoon, an intense match for the Nation's League Matchday 2 saw Malvekia and Anglostia clash in what has been dubbed 'The Sunshine Derby' by international audiences. The Malvekian National Football Team, affectionately dubbed the 'Flying Falcons' by fans, earned a hard-fought draw against home side Anglostia in what will be the first of many matches in the way of the Championship title, as the Malvekian side eagerly await to redeem themselves and their nation's glory after a disappointing performance last year.

Watched by a home crowd 59,000 strong, the match began with the Malvekian team kicking off in their iconic yellow and blue-striped jerseys, dominating possession early into the game with midfielders Laban Matteo and Maymun Razak orchestrating much of the play. However, the Anglostian team relented, expertly shutting out any attempted breakthroughs by the Malvekians before launching a vicious counterattack just past the 30-minute mark and catching the Malvekian side off-guard. Outpaced and outmaneuvered, the Anglostians made a play into the Malvekian penalty area only for their striker to ping the ball right off goalposts and safely into Malvekian goalkeeper George Allack's hands. George Allack would go on to perform superbly throughout the match, making multiple close-shaved saves that would earn him the title 'Man of The Match'. Right before halftime, an ill-timed tackle by the an Anglostian midfielder would see the match's first yellow card awarded and Malvekian center back Caleb Bintang carried out on a stretcher to be replaced by defensive substitute Leonard Fuller. Thankfully, Bintang is expected to recover fully before Malvekia's next international match. After another commendable effort on the Anglostian goal by the Malvekians that failed to yield results, the first half ended with neither side making it onto the scoreboard.

The second half saw a change in tempo as Anglostia coming out onto the field with more urgency, turning up the pressure on the Malvekians and dominating the midfield. As the match dragged on, the visitors began to falter under the overwhelming Anglostian assault. Anglostia created a series of chances during this time, with them coming close to breaking the deadlock with a header that was swiftly deflected away from the goal by goalkeeper Allack. Anglostia pressed on as the Malvekians looked out of steam by the 80-minute mark, requiring them to send in their last remaining substitutes to pump fresh blood into the Malvekian side. As the minutes ticked by, neither side seemed able to create the breakthrough needed to clinch the match when suddenly a surprise counteroffensive in the 87th minute saw Malvekian striker Christian Sterling taking matters into his own hands during a corner kick on the Malvekian side. With a dazzling long pass by fellow teammate Lucas Walkman, Sterling outpaced Anglostian defenders as he raced into the penalty box and took his shot, only to disappointingly whiz a few inches above the goalpost. After an uneventful 2 minutes of extra time, the match was declared over, with both sides coming to a draw.

Post-match, Malvekian manager Luca D'Agostino seemed quite pleased, commenting: "It’s always a little disappointing when you don’t convert chances into a victory, we made some good plays but Anglostia played very well, especially in the second half. I can see that we have improved considerably since our last Nation League tournament, but evidently there are things we need to work on before we can truly reach our full potential. Credit to the players for staying composed throughout the match. We didn’t get the win today, but we didn’t lose either, and that’s something we can build on."

Hello everyone. Just so you can get to know me. I hope you make a good choice!

Hey there! Yes, I am Atrocha, your capitalist nation, lover of tea, trade and piety. And I am nominated to be Cartographer of Valsora, our RMB map. I have been in Valsora for about the same time as I have been in NationStates: about 2 and a half years. It is a relatively recent time, but it has felt like a whole decade. I know that the task of cartographer is very crucial for the map, mainly when it comes to recent map updates, and updating the databases.

For Valsora, I plan to follow the line of realism that has been maintained over time. Also, to achieve harmony, mainly with the economic data of the nations. However, I think that fantasy can still have a place within Valsora, in well-described and explained cases. I also plan to push the use of ValsoraWiki, which when it launched we saw a lot of activity, but currently there isn't much development, so I'm going to do my best to push that part of our map. In fact, I am still writing my country's article on ValsoraWiki, which you can see Linkhere.

I have a fondness for cartography, which while not as much my forte as worldbuilding is, I try to improve that aspect every day. I've had a lot more free time, and I hope to continue that trend as long as I can. I've used Paint.Net, although not much, but I can hold my own, and I'm a fast learner, so it shouldn't be a problem when it comes to updates. If any nation has problems with numbers, history or any questions about the history of the map, I will be able to help you without any problems.

Basically, my goals are to make Valsora a place where you can develop your nation in all aspects, and for it to remain the map we all love and respect. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me in the RMB, TGs, or Discord. I've attached some work I've done here.

Atrocha wrote:I like your concept overall. However, I don't like to take for granted what "I want" to do with Valsora because it largely depends on the players. I conceive of the cartographer not as the OP who gives vertical orders, but takes a negotiating part based on how a nation wants to grow or develop. I like your idea, but idealizing how something you're going to do (or something the new cartographer should do) I don't consider it healthy in terms of rp players who might want that the CC not to get so involved in how they play. I would say that it were a concept that would be achieved by negotiation or until the Valsorans really want to.

Atrocha wrote:I add something:

Atrocha would be open to space rp being made in Valsora. Even if it only involves the Moon or space explorations. A planet with so many resources, 10 years in the future, should at least make a lunar war :P

Clearly, this would have to be discussed with the other Cartographers. But it is something that in most cases I would give it the "For".

Atrocha wrote:On the first one. I think so, to help nations not to exaggerate their numbers and to stay within the acceptable level of realism. I also think that despite being an MTRP and being 10 years in the future, we are lacking in accepting technology that could well be used in the war. It would be like nations seeking advice so that they can perform well in their conflict.

On the second one. Of course I will show Valsora's achievements. We have a lot of talent on the map, and I will do my best so that TEP and the rest of the site can learn about the wonder of the map. This would require giving more materials to the media that would promote this, the most accessible and most widely disseminated being the EPNS. I am aware that during these last months the EPNS has not published anything about Valsora, and I will make sure that at least two good works of our map appear, to motivate our RMBers.

Atrocha wrote:I'm generally more of a realist, but I'm willing to accept more fantasy, as long as it fits within reason.

I might be skeptical of fantasy elements that are potentially used for godmodding, for example. But if a nation puts forward its proposal for fantasy elements, intrinsically related to its lore, I can analyze it and accept it.

I'll also be against new sapient beings whose proposal is not sufficiently in line with the realism/fantasy balance. That is, that the fantasy can be explained in realistic terms, at least. Considering also those nations that refuse to accept fantasy. For example, if there is a non-thinking fairy in Volinovia that is able to modify the course of the little brooks, and if it explains it in a very detailed way, I'll be able to accept it.

I hope I've answered your question.

Atrocha wrote:It would depend mainly on the proposal. If you propose living, fire-breathing lizards that also speak and rule a country and are extremely good in battle, so much so that no one can defeat them, there is a problem. Mainly because I don't see a balance between reality and fantasy. Fantasy is inexplicable in itself, but it can be expressed in realistic terms.

So my feedback would be:

- Unsalvageable: the proposal has no place.
- Concept development: more details and deep corrections are needed.
- To improve: if it is improved a little, it is more likely to be approved.

The areas that I would invite to improve (depending on the proposal) would be in the composition of the proposed being, its skills, its powers, its reasoning capacity and its importance within the lore.

    Comrade Malvekia.

First, I took a screenshot of my sovereign territories from the map of Valsora. I made a sort of layered drawing, where I traced all my territories onto the blank field. After removing the base image, I began to subdivide territory by territory. The entire process took me 2 hours.
